Shouting match at Brothers - Who were those old trouts?

If anyone who encourages dog/cat owners to be responsible for their pet is a 'Floridiot', what does that make the people who let their dogs/cats breed and run loose to be struck by cars or starve to death? Maybe we can come up for a derogatory name for those people. Not from Florida, just believe in taking responsibility. A dog is not a disposable commodity to be replaced when it runs off, with another who will suffer the same fate. There are people who care. Call them names if it makes you feel better about your own inadequacies.  (Nov 21, 2013 | post #7)

Ate at 'Main Street' today for lunch ....

If by questionable, you mean really good tasting, then I don't mind. Did you want to explain that comment or just leave it hanging, like you know something that others don't?  (May 31, 2013 | post #38)

what happened to moose hollow

I don't think that store could possibly survive in this town, the prices are way beyond what the average person could afford. Blue Ridge is more upscale, with a higher per capita income. I went in Moose Hollow when we first moved to Murphy, and was astounded by their high prices. That said, the items were beautiful but not priced for this area.  (Sep 23, 2012 | post #3)

Are you better off now than you were 4 years ago?

You are so correct. Those Obama haters, particularly those who cannot get past the fact that our President had a father who was not WHITE, have not made any attempt to learn the facts of the past 4 years, to learn and acknowledge the accomplishments that he has made in spite of being left an enormous mess by that Texas Twit. You will not change the minds of those who resent a (1/2) black president, he could balance the budget, bring peace to the world and make the US a utopia and the narrow minded would not be happy. He is the President, not a Vegas magician, how can you expect him to clean up 8 years of Bush in only 4 years, without any help or acceptance from the Republicans in congress and the senate. Haters are going to hate, and it's ironic since so many people here claim to be 'Christian' but certainly don't practice what they preach.  (Sep 23, 2012 | post #20)

Election Poll, June 2012 - Murphy, NC

Obama is doing a better job than people give him credit for, and I want him to serve another 4 years and Romney is a dilettante who caters to the rich.  (Sep 22, 2012 | post #5)

Murphy people are arrogant smartasses

Personally, I find your attitude very harsh. Did it occur to you that recycling and reusing items is a good thing. If you have items that you feel are usable, why not donate them to Logan's Run, or the Valley Humane Society thrift store, or Reach in town, or Pay it Forward so that people can benefit from your 'trash'. No, it's not your responsibility to leave 'poor people' items that they can reuse, but you could be a bit more altruistic and not such a scrooge about it.  (Sep 21, 2012 | post #79)

Murphy people are arrogant smartasses

I am relatively new to Murphy and am loving it here. I am a bit overwhelmed by the religious fervor that I've found here, finding most folks who are born & raised here are very Christian while people from other areas are a bit more understated and vocal in their beliefs. I have noticed that the economics of the area seems depressed, maybe vacationers and retirees are put off by the overly religious overtones you see everywhere, even the town's only movie-house is contemplating showing predominately Christian themed films soon. Other than that, it's great. I wish they'd recycle more items though. The recycling is kind of limited.  (Sep 21, 2012 | post #78)
