Just Found A Jazz/Funk Bassist That Sounds Like My Favorites

Just found a Jazz/ Funk bassist that sounds like my favorites Marcus Miller, Larry Graham, and Stanley Clarke. His name is Mitchell Coleman Jr. and man is he kickin it old school with his album Soul Searching! Hands down, my favorite track so far is “Flow”. Veteran Motown producer Michael B. Sutton helped produce the song and it definitely gives it that classic funk sound that I just love. Check it out on iTunes here: http://bit.ly/iTun es-Flow-MCJ and you’ll totally see what I mean. This guy is definitely going places; I mean his album “Soul Searching” has made it on to the Top Albums list on CD Baby this week! Mitchell has a Facebook at: http://bit.ly/Mitc hellColemanJr, Twitter at: https://twitter.co m/MitchOnTheBass and website www.MitchellColema nJr.com if anybody wants to look up more info about him  (5 hrs ago | post #1)

George Benson

I Just Found A Fantastic Jazz Song Paying Homage To Georg...

Hands down my favorite musician is George Benson, and I love that I found this great jazzy song written about him! Established musician Jimmy Dale is creating original Jazz compositions that are both emotional and creative. His latest single, “Dear Mr. Benson”, is Jimmy’s way of paying homage to his idol and famed guitarist George Benson. That’s just the sweetest! Dale has backed for notable bands such as The Drifters, The Coasters, The Chiffons, and Tommy Roe. The amount of phenomenal musicians he has be taught by, played with, and just jammed is astronomical. These relationships and talent have gotten Jimmy to where he is today. But, he attributes Don Schamber from Monterey Peninsula College, as the one who had the biggest influence on him. “He taught me the love of jazz and how to compose.” Experience the heartwarming “Dear Mr. Benson” for yourself on iTunes at: http://bit.ly/JD-i Tunes-Benson. Stay up to date with Jimmy Dale for upcoming tour dates and news on Facebook at: http://bit.ly/Jimm yD-Facebook, Reverbnation at: http://bit.ly/Jimm yD-Reverbnation, and his official website at www.JimmyDale.net.  (7 hrs ago | post #1)

Album Review of Listen To This by Jazz Singer Cheryl Barnes

Jazz singer and songwriter Cheryl Barnes’s new album “Listen To This”- which is her fourth studio album- was patiently rendered over a five year period and was released this past year. The album is comprised of originals and new renditions of old classics. The passion in Barnes’ voice is almost tangible; you can really feel the connection Barnes has to each track. “Listen To This” opens with “Like Jazz” that gets your foot tapping and hips swaying to the beat and then shortly follows with “Come With Me” that just invites you in to stay and wraps you in warm vocals. Upping the standards for cover songs, she hit the nail on the head with her renditions of Joni Mitchell’s epic “Come in From the Cold” and “When I Am Laid In Earth” from the opera Dido and Aeneas. They demonstrate her ability to take someone else’s song and truly make it her own. The refined talent of her husband Philip Cabasso on piano and L.A.’s finest saxophonists Rickey Woodard and Pete Christlieb, pianists John Hammond and Joel Scott, and trumpeter Nolan Shaheed will really help this album go down as a classic. “Soul Searching” is a smooth jazz fusion album from Mitchell Coleman Jr. that will funk you up. It’s a perfect mix of Funk and Jazz, that’ll get Funk on your Jazz and Jazz on your Funk … Mmmm sounds good!! This album has it all: heart, soul, and collaborations with Motown legends that bring his lifelong dream of sharing music with the world to life. Co-writing all but one of the songs on his album, Mitchell Coleman Jr. is a true smooth jazz musician. It allows him to showcase his virtuosity as a bass player who can hold his own, even among his idols. The album provides a funky jam that results from collaborating with Deron Johnsson, former Miles Davis’ keyboardist, and Jim Gilstrap to name a few. You can check out “Soul Searching” on Amazon at: http://bit.ly/Amaz on-SoulSearching. When he’s not creating smooth fusion funk jazz in the studio, Mitchell enjoys dishing out an occasional karate kick as part of his martial arts training, and building classic cars. Social Media Marketing

How Can Indie Artists Concentrate on Their Music?

Music Marketing activities take up a lot of time and require knowledge of how marketing works best. While that time, is crucial for an Indie Artist so are the marketing tasks that need be done. How do you stand out amongst the more than 28 million tracks on iTunes especially since there are approximately 100,000 being added every day? The most cost efficient method is to delve into a Music Marketing campaign. I bet some of the indie musicians reading this are saying “but that costs a lot of money”…but it doesn’t. What it costs is TIME to implement the campaign; and the knowledge to know what you are doing! Being talented and letting people know about your talent are two very different things! Getting your music exposed to the right listeners (that like your genre) will help you to grow your fan base, sell more tickets to shows where you can sell merchandise, etc. Being in touch regularly with your fans and potential fans is paramount for the future of your career. Not only does communicating regularly with them breed loyalty but also word-of-mouth and further exposure. Now, more than ever, it’s very important to have an email list of fans (at least 75% of your revenue will be from the people on your fan list), but also friends/fans/follo wers, etc. on social media as that is now the gauge for getting a booking agent, manager, getting signed to a label, etc. But, let’s face it. There are only so many hours in the day and you can’t be the best at everything you try to master. So if you are looking for an alternative to doing it yourself, check our www.MusicMarketing ByWebNRetail.com and Facebook here: http://bit.ly/WnR- Facebook.  (Jan 22, 2015 | post #1)
