Was the girl black or white?  (Tuesday Dec 15 | post #1)

Richmond Rape: Race WAS an issue at Richmond High School

Nobody will take you seriously if you use language that makes no sense to most people. I know it is the thing to do now to abbreviate words, not use capitol letters, etc. Whatever is easy is how kids both speak and write. Put as much effort into communicating as you do in trying to use trendy lingo and I might understand the points you try to make. I think you said you are mexican, but you also say you are italian and you are not white? See, it's kind of confusing to know what you are saying. I think I agree with some of your positions, but like I say, It's hard to get past how you use language.  (Friday Dec 11 | post #215)

Louisiana State Penitentiary

Sister Helen Prejean Demands Death to Capital Punishment

The Sister was not aware her story would become a pro-death penalty movie was she? The condemned inmate she counseled only accepted responsibility for his crimes because he was about to be executed. As someone involved in prison ministry I know it is my job to bring each person I meet to Christ. It is not to save his/her life. Had the man been sentenced to LWOP does anyone think he would have been motivated to change his ways? Of course not. Her success with him was ONLY possible BECAUSE he was on death row. She never told him he should not be executed, did she? She could have visited and counseled him until he died of old age as a LWOP inmate and would not have changed! I think it is clear he got the sentence he deserved and they both knew it. I'm kinda weary of listening to the standard objections to the death penalty. You know the ones (it's not a deterrent, racially imbalanced, innocents are executed, it's uncivilized, other developed nations outlawed it, people can be rehabilitated). There are more no doubt. For me it boils down to one reason: the punishment (death) fits the crime and criminal! For some crimes committed by some people execution is the only just sentence. Hey! You kidnap, torture and murder a child - YOU DIE. You rape and kill someone - YOU DIE. Etc. I don't care that there is no DP in France and I don't care if it takes 15 years to execute someone, and I don't care if the execution causes pain. I think it should!  (Friday Dec 4 | post #7)

Richmond Rape: Race WAS an issue at Richmond High School

I believe you are a liar. No way an attorney writes as poorly as do you. You don't begin a sentence with a capitol letter? Run-on sentences. Can't spell? "Man kind" is one word."atrocia ty" is atrocity. "im" is I'm. "There has been so many crimes" should read there HAVE been so many crimes. You must have a mental disorder, be a pathological liar or just be a long time lawyer wannabe! In any case nobody can take your comments seriously when we know you lie about who you are as you have plainly done. Race is an issue in this case. No, the crime would not be any more heinous if it was committed against a minority girl. That isn't the issue. The issue for me is that when crimes like this, that appear to qualify as a hate crime, are ignored by the mainstream media, and the crime is not prosecuted as a hate crime, then there is an awful hypocrisy present. It is only the liberal elements that cry for hate crime legislation, and yet when a crime is committed against a white person it is never labeled as such and is ignored for the most part by the mainstream media. Hate crime laws are nothing more than an effort to pacify minority groups, The crimes of rape and murder and other violent crimes already have punishments written into state and federal criminal codes. There is no need for additional classification or punishment! That didn't stop Congress, did it? You cannot continue to ignore racially motivated crimes against whites without starting a fight.  (Tuesday Dec 1 | post #207)

Sixth defendant in Richmond rape case facing lesser penalties

Good point. The poster DOES seem like the kind of guy who would watch and not help (and enjoy the experience). I wonder what sort of values he imparts to his children? Tragic that someone even entertains the notion that violent crime is excusable based on another person's innocence. The girl is innocent of wrongdoing even if (and I don't know this to be true) she used poor judgment to put herself in the wrong place at the wrong time. If a girl shows up naked and drunk it is STILL a crime to sexually assault her. The idea that 'she asked for it' is just so dumb it is hard to believe anyone thinks that way. Boys will be boys does not mean boys must break the law and God's commandments!!  (Nov 8, 2009 | post #4)

Sikhs fight for right to wear turbans, beards in military, law ...

The truth is the USA IS multicultural. Founding fathers did not intend for us to bend/yield to all minority religions, races, political bodies. Our tradition is as a Christian nation though we certainly have not acted like it with respect to slavery, violating countless treaties with American Indians. We have bent too far in accommodation and now we pay the price with cultural confusion. As far as the topic is concerned, the military is not a democratic institution. Everyone complies with the UCMJ. Everyone plays by the same rules, period. While inmates have successfully argued for permission to wear religious clothing in line with other-than-Christi an faiths, this is not anywhere near the same thing as military discipline. America's fighting forces have been formidable in part because of the sameness, the discipline. Military guidelines should not change to please a minority. You join the military you look like every one else. It's part of the experience. It was when I was a Marine in Vietnam in 68 and it should be NOW.  (Nov 8, 2009 | post #123)

Richmond Rape: Race WAS an issue at Richmond High School

This forum has deteriorated into petty disputes between two people who should consider how THEIR kids would view their comments. Think about it. Bowdie said something provocative I want to address. He wrote about smart people vs uneducated stupid people bearing children. Smart people being offset so to speak by stupid people diluting the gene pool as they breed early and often (my words). The outrage against the rape (yes that is why this thread was started) has nothing to do with intelligence, but rather morality. The notion that only really smart people know how to properly have and raise kids is just - well - stupid! Give me a moral person regardless of intelligence any day. In Vietnam none of us cared how smart the guy next to us was. We just cared he had our back. Do I care how smart my neighbor is or whether he is a good guy? Give me a good guy any day. Do I want a neighbor who made comments like "Yeah, the idea of family planning usually puzzles folks like you - who are so dim from inbreeding that they don't know where babies come from"? Not if I have a choice.  (Nov 8, 2009 | post #187)

"angie" "Most sexual perverts are Men. Most rapes are targeted at women,by men. Most if not all child molesters are Men." Sexual perverts may or may not commit crimes. I think there are plenty of women out there who quality as sex criminals. Don't think for a minute that "most if not all child molesters are Men.". While men do commit a large majority of sex crimes against children, women do so to a significant extent. As an example, go to the FL DOC or GA DOC website and do a search for females who are in prison on account of any kind of sex crime. http://www.dc.stat e.fl.us/ActiveInma tes/search.asp, http://www.dcor.st ate.ga.us/GDC/Offe nderQuery/jsp/OffQ ryForm.jsp. You will see just how prevalent female convicted sex offenders are. I'm not disputing the fact that we men are guilty far more often. I'm just saying it is also a serious problem for women.  (Nov 6, 2009 | post #165)

Hey Neicy, Doctors who treat inmates don't have access to details of their criminal histories. If a doctor made that statement based on his/her experience inside prison then he is foolish and relies on what inmates say about their sentences. I cannot envision an inmate walking into medical carrying his legal files for the doctor to review. Doctors in prison, like elsewhere, don't have time to do other than what is in their job description. I'm not saying that the statement about white inmates getting lighter sentences than minorities for equal crimes is not true. I'm just saying that information ought to come from someone who studies the court systems or has researched it. You cannot believe generalizations about doctors by inmates any more than you can believe generalizations made my inmates about doctors. Ten years of prison ministry has taught me who to believe and what to believe.  (Nov 6, 2009 | post #164)

Richmond outraged at gang rape

I doubt it is lawful to have a concealed weapon at a homecoming dance. Be serious. If the situation is that dangerous then your child doesn't go! Carrying a handgun to a school or school function is probably illegal. In South Carolina a concealed weapon permit holder can only have a handgun stowed safely and cannot either carry or display the weapon on school grounds. It would be foolish to have kids carrying weapons to any school function. Better to search each person, and if that means passing through a metal detector then so be it. I AM in favor of faculty members carrying weapons if they are so licensed, when armed security is not provided at the school function. These days we have to prepare for the worst case scenario. Think of how many lives could have been saved at Virginia Tech if there was an armed professor in the building! Of course if the school ignores the risks as apparently happened in Richmond, and any security is only for cosmetic purposes, then people will get hurt or die. The city of Richmond has to respond to this atrocity in an immediate and severe manner. They share responsiblity/blam e. Heads must roll. Fire them. Sue them. Prosecute them as well as the rapists and observers.  (Nov 5, 2009 | post #38)

Laos

US calls on Laos to investigate murder of 26 Hmong civilians

The Hmong people support our troops in Vietnam. We used them to gather intelligence and to get support among the Laotion people, some fighting along side American troops. We did what we have done too often in war. We used the people native to the battleground, promised continued support after the war and then left them high and dry. Thousands were murdered because when we left we left them defenseless in their own country. The Laotian government has been hostile to Hmongs ever since Vietnam. Hmong people come to this country and hope for a better life. We owe them a chance. We owe them more than a chance, having deserted them as we did the Iraqis in 1991 after liberating Kuwait. As we did after helping the Afgani's to boot the Russians out of their country in the 1980's. We are a proud nation, but we have much misplaced pride. I went to Vietnam as a Marine and ended up in a Navy hospital for 10 months from injuries sustained there. Nobody should save a country from it's enemies and then abandon those very people as the USA has done often in it's history. I honor the Hmong people for their help in Vietnam and hope they receive the understanding they are due. Of course anyone coming to this country must do his/her part to become part of the culture and Hmong must also do this.  (Nov 5, 2009 | post #32)

Paul White: Gang rape watchers a product of schools' moral void

I think schools reflect society and society is reflected in the moral compass of parents. Schools cannot teach in a few hours a day that which is antithetical to what kids see, believe and live the rest of their lives. As long as we have rampant teenage pregnancy, single parenthood, absent fathers, and gang role models our country will continue it's decline into a cesspool of moral decay. Parents who quit school, or came across the border illegally, or are criminals, or who refuse to work are ill equipped to produce 'good kids'. We can expect no different in the future for there is nothing that society can do to cleanse itself of this cancer when the cancer has spread so very far and deep inside of us. Making matters worse is the liberal attitude that todays kids just need a helping hand. Anyone who has spent time with hardcore criminals either in or out of prison knows that their allegiance runs as deep as the tattoos that cover their bodies. Some change their ways. Most do not. Liberals say we should not lock people up for non-violent crimes! Drugs account for more than 2/3 of all incarcerations in this country. Crimes committed by people in the name of drugs include robbery, theft, fraud, identity theft, drug sales, prostitution. Setting these felons free just means more criminals on the street and more crime. Someone breaks into my house to burglar it when I am home means his attempt at crime will become a violent crime one way or another. How may people are devastated by being the victim of any crime? Most I imagine. When someone breaks the law they earn a punishment, not a half way house and a voc rehab program in lieu of prison. Suffer your punishment and then see if you can benefit from rehab. You have to pay the piper first.  (Nov 3, 2009 | post #9)

Four of the Richmond, California, gang rape suspects expected i...

I don't think there is hope of change in some communities. Look at the widespread terror by gangs such as MS13! Some segments of our society will always be cancers and as long as we tolerate their behavior, don't enforce our borders, give acceptance to teenagers giving birth with no father figure and no sense of Christian morality our nation will inexorably continue to deteriorate. It makes sense to want to solve the root of the problem, but that means that we have to quit being nice to those who are dragging our country down. It means that kids have to finish high school and then go to college or get a job. It means parents must set good examples for their kids and discipline them when they continue to make poor judgment decisions. Parents must expect their kids to do well in school and help them with schoolwork. Now you see why we are in an impossible situation? Because many of the parents of these thugs are not capable of setting good examples. They are not capable of helping with schoolwork because they quit school. They are not capable or willing to discipline their children because they are undisciplined and unconcerned about the moral choices their children make. It is too late for these mostly single parents to change their own lives, and impossible therefore to effect a positive change in their children. Mostly at fault are the fathers of these kids compared to the mothers. These guys impregnate a girl and move on to another girl without providing financial support or being involved in the child's life. If this was just a single generation we had to deal with perhaps we could. But, it is much too late now. We are left with locking up these thugs and supporting the women with our welfare tax dollars. The USA is a nation where people are encouraged to become self-sufficient. The freeloaders (criminals, illegal aliens, some welfare families) will never become self-sufficient. They will never be anything but a moral cancer that needs to be cut out!  (Nov 3, 2009 | post #18)

Richmond Rape: Race WAS an issue at Richmond High School

Someone just HAD to bring up the white mans' crimes of the last two hundred or more years, as if that is relevant to this case. Maybe we should pay reparations to the thugs because of crimes committed 5 generations ago? None of the assailants was around a hundred years ago, and neither were their parents. Just look at the present day statistics. You cannot address a problem without first looking at it objectively. But today we can't look at the racial aspects of violent crime objectively because that would require everyone to come to the common conclusion that black males commit violent crimes in general to a much greater degree and frequency than to non-blacks and that with respect to interracial rape, black-on-white-rape accounts for all but a few cases,  (Nov 1, 2009 | post #106)

Richmond Rape: Race WAS an issue at Richmond High School

Where does the immorality come from? Ghetto mindset persists despite whatever laws exist. Laws won't stop rape since it is already a crime, just as hate crime legislation won't deter crime or help prosecute it. Rape is already punishable by severe prison sentences, including life in some states. Rape is not a black or white crime, but one element of it is a huge disproportion in interracial rape of white women. People interpret my comments, and me, as racist though I speak facts. You cannot ignore the reality that race is an issue in this country because we are a melting pot of races and because of our history of being a racist nation (slavery). Nobody wants to be treated badly by another race. I cannot speak for others of my race or other races. I do know that hate crimes against white victims is far less reported by the media than those committed against minorities and that is not fair. Call every crime what it is. Let's see justice done in every case, regardless of race. If that ever happens then I won't have this issue to talk about. It may not change the dynamics of the crime, but at least it will assure fair treatment by the press and the public.  (Nov 1, 2009 | post #93)
