GVSU shooting march at Sheriff's Dept.

the story says the officer is on "paid administrative leave", must be nice to get paid for screwing up when you shoot an unarmed man  (Mar 16, 2009 | post #4)

GVSU shooting march at Sheriff's Dept.

it's just my guess because I don't know the facts yet..... but I am guessing that the officer used rubber bullets instead of the standard bullet in order to stun the suspect... a standard bullet would have done a lot more damage or worse, death  (Mar 16, 2009 | post #3)

Low blood sugar fuels 'reckless driver'

when I read this story I was very surprised. I have one family member and also a very close friend outside of the family who both have a epileptic history and their licences have been pulled by the state because of the risk of seizures while driving. In the news story it states that an ambulance was called to the scene and the driver was treated and and then sent on his way, I know diabetes and epilepsy are two totally different problems, but don't they have very similar results when it happens, they both loose control of their bodies motor skills, Why was this driver sent on his way with no ticket for endangerment or any concern to public safety.  (Mar 15, 2009 | post #6)

Young man shot at Allendale apt complex

after reading all of these posts I am really amazed that nobody picked up on the one interesting fact in this news story......the Ottawa co. deputy shot an UN-armed man. drug related or not, the fact that he was NOT armed makes me want to know the rest of the story  (Mar 12, 2009 | post #69)

Gunshots reported at Craig's Cruisers

I still say this is an excellent reason to take the CCW class and be legally allowed to carry a firearm. If these punks would think for just one second that the person they shoot at may have a weapon and shoot back, I am confident a lot of these spoiled punks would think twice before they cause trouble. I for one do not go looking for trouble, but if trouble comes looking for me I am ready to defend myself and protect my family. It is really sad that this had to happen at a "FAMILY" fun center where upstanding law abiding citizens were at to enjoy a night out with their "FAMILY"  (Mar 7, 2009 | post #30)

Some Allegan Haworth jobs move to Miss.

well, look on the bright side.... at least they didnt move to Mexico or some place over seas. this is an unusual act for corporate CEOs to stay in the United States and not take advantage of NAFTA benefits.  (Feb 27, 2009 | post #4)

100+ jukebox jobs lost to Mexico

Walter, I am sorry to have to tell you, this is Not Grandmoles fault. You may want to thank Former President H.W.Bush and Clinton, for they are the ones that Started NAFTA, and the begging of the downfall of this country by allowing these corporate CEOs to save a buck or two by shifting there production to Mexico where labor costs greatly reduce their production overhead. I agree with those that say, boycot this product. But make sure you give credit where credit is due  (Feb 27, 2009 | post #43)

Loose tobacco taxes jump April 1

Not only will you have to pay the "FEDERAL " tax for any out of state sales... but also, The Federal government made it mandatory for ALL tobacco sales to be reported to federal and state governments for tax collections. By going on line and purchasing any of these products, you will be subject to taxes, even if it is an out of state purchase, then after that stupid **** in Lansing gets her way, her state tax will be imposed as well and any company you purchase from, whether it be from N.Y., OH, PA, you will have to pay any tax due to the state of Michigan, going on line looking for a cheaper deal will not help you. I am a smoker, and about 4 years ago I switched from buying factory rolled cigarettes to buying bulk tobacco and tubes and machines so that rolling my own was more economical; My savings were going from paying $50 per week on name brand cigarettes to roughly $40 per month to roll my own. After Grandmole gets her tax plan enforced I will be right back to spending roughly $130 to $150 per month. This is simply outrageous, it is called taxation without representation. Not only is she going to stomp out the tobacco industry in this state and cause people to give up this habit, but she is also going to cause the distributors like admiral and others to lay off more employee's because sales will go down and people will be spending less on a product.... This is good planning on her part, as if this sate does not have enough out of work employee's, lets make it even worse by shutting down more suppliers because they cant afford to stay in business.... no sales equals no revenue equals no tax income equals higher state recession. Go back to Canada you stupid C*NT  (Feb 24, 2009 | post #145)

Driver flees from police, flips vehicle

Your name says it all, you really are an IDIOT. How would you know what the law enforcement officers out there protecting us are paid and how much is being wasted. The fact that you think being a police officer is no more dangerous the being a construction worker or a cab driver, I think you should look back to about a year and half ago to the officer who was shot in the head while responding to a domestic violence call, who died and left behind his daughter and family.... I bet there is not one person on a construction site that leaves their home every morning wondering gee will I be shot today, could this be my last day on this earth, will I be killed by some crazy wacked out crane operator high on crack who shoots someone for no apparent reason. The fact that yes , they do volunteer for this kind of work, so that stupid people like you can have a better life  (Feb 15, 2009 | post #16)

Police impersonator storyteller charged

the fact that the economy and jobless rate has gotten so bad, that people need to fabricate stories like this to cover up loss of income or turn in fraudulent insurance claims just to get by in these hard times.... it is truly sad and I hope that we all can overcome these hard times very quickly, but to lie about a police impersonator and create a fear in the public about a potential danger, that is inexcusable and I hope they do give her some severe penalties  (Feb 12, 2009 | post #4)

Boy shot, uninjured, on way to school

Ottawa hills high school? shot but uninjured, does the school hand out bulletproof vests for their students instead of books?? Sorry I couldn't resist. It does seem like a very unusual news story, and I am sure there are a lot of details that have not been released or under a pending investigation  (Feb 12, 2009 | post #5)

Vehicles can't avoid East Paris pothole

Better yet Darin, they could sell tickets to the viewing as though it was a spectator event. I agree with you; To sit on the side and photograph or video the destruction, and do nothing to warn on coming traffic to the hazard ahead, really does seem irresponsible by the news crew. But like anything else in this world today, it is easier to take the stance : Its not my job, its not my responsibility, Welcome to Michigan in the winter time, pot holes have been an every year occurrence with the change in temperatures and this is somehow a up to date breaking news story that demands immediate coverage?  (Feb 12, 2009 | post #11)

Rain, wind, ice are weather concerns

guess that riverfront property with an excellent view was not such a good deal after all. If flooding seems to be an every year occurrence, like hurricanes in Florida and other coastal states, either find really good flood insurance or move the H E L L out. Welcome to Michigan in the WINTER time, it tends to get cold and ice may build on lakes and rivers......DDUHHHH  (Feb 12, 2009 | post #21)
