Review: Brookeville Animal Hospital - Marcie L Engel DVM

I have recently taken over as Practice Manager of Brookeville Animal Hospital. I have read the negative reviews listed on the site and would like to address them. I have been in veterinary hospital management for 10 years now and it is my experience that on occassion certain clients feel that they were not treated well or that the services they are charged for are too much and did not match value. When these things have been brought to my attention I have found that it was due to misunderstanding and miscommunication. It is my personal goal & commitment to see that my hospital and staff provide top quality service by educated professionals at all times. From all team members ( reception , technicians and doctors.) Although we strive to please everyone all of the time, it will happen that on occasion a certain issues will go unresolved as everyones expectation of vet care is different. There are some who would go to the ends of the earth to do anything necessary without limits of finanaces. There are some that do not place the same value on their pets health and prefer to only do what is absolutely necessary or required by law such as Rabies vaccinations. Then there are those who do not have the extra financial resources to do what is necessary .In such cases our medical staff is very compassionate and when this is communicated to us we then do our best to advise our clients as to what we can do for their pets based upon what they can afford. In extreme cases we have worked with our clients to extend certain courtesies. When new patients come through our doors we do require an exam to assure the patient is healthy. This is not only in the best interest of the patient but for my staff as well. This is policy with all doctors both human and veterinary. Once the veterinarian performs an exam they then provide the client with all options available for them to make an informed and educated decision as to what will be best for their pet. The clients then decide together with the vet and we always provide estimates for services for the clients to initial showing cost for services so they are aware. Our prices for services are comparible to other veterinarians in the area. We check this at least 4 times per year. Difference of cost for patient care may vary depending on technique and protocols in place at the hospital . All doctors in both human and veterinary medicine have different approaches to patient care. I would welcome these clients who have had negative experiences with us in the past to contact me at Brookville Animal Hospital. And for future and current clients, you may always contact me to make me aware of any experience good or bad. I will do my best to resolve any issues brought to my attention immediately. I am thankful to those of you that have posted such great comments and invite you to stop in and meet me whenever you are in the area. We will continue to provide best care possible and look forward to many years of service.  (Aug 22, 2012 | post #11)
