Tell us how you plan to attract jobs

Well building a Prison would be helpful because we are so close to VA. if they escape the prisoner's will be VA. problem and of course they have so many officers on this side of their state the prisoners will make WV I think you get my drift. As far as bring jobs it might bring 4-8. The rest are state jobs transfered in. I say let us look for companies that want distribution hubs this county is so central to most of all of the east coast central states. As restriction get tighter on 18 wheel drivers 10 hours one way can get you to 18 states and the D of C and postage from this local to these plus 12 more is less expensive then and other state So, that makes this location great for some large internet companies that want commercial warehousing and that would bring a lot of LOCAL jobs We have the trucking would possible add more We have the Fedex hub. We have low taxes. We have the land (space).  (Jan 16, 2009 | post #1)

Subject matter man left Christmas and had Police looking three days. When he was in hospital but hospital could not release in info. Should HIPA Hospital be charged for the costs of Police? Should there be a exception to the HIPA laws when a person is of dimenished capacity that the hospital can contact the authorities ? as this was broadcasted for three days  (Jan 3, 2009 | post #1)

Guns now allowed in Smokies, on Parkway

I have read some post talks about "nuts" well if their "nuts" do you really think they care about whether or not they need a permit or a concealed lic. I Don't Think So. So, I would rather have protection when and where I am legally able to.  (Jan 3, 2009 | post #149)

Freezing rain made for hazardous commute

I will have to say I do not understand DOT's reasoning behind not salting at least the bridge ways before -on- after that only would of cut the wreaks by 3/4 DOT screwed this one up but bad. Even the commuter bus had a hard time.  (Jan 3, 2009 | post #3)

Trooper slaying rocked region

This was a tragic and horrific act of violence. These Police Officers need our respect and assistance to Stop these and other Crimes. They do not need negative or harassment that some of the few feel singled out. Yes there are always a bad apple in the barrel but that does not mean we condemn ALL.  (Jan 3, 2009 | post #81)

Do you know why Colleges do not put weight on GPA's and put more on SAT scores from NC? Look at your schools SAT scores vs GPA's scores  (Jan 3, 2009 | post #1)

Traffic circles will replace stoplights, signs

I would think we would just need another traffic light at 52 N off ramp and Key Street I am sure some one could figure out the timing issue. even with the right hand turn at the bank and the left at McDonalds. I am guessing the DOT feels it will be cheaper in the long run without lights maintains ect.  (Jan 3, 2009 | post #3)

Mixed-drink referendums on May 6 ballot in Pilot Mountain...

Pilot Mountain needs revenue and if single glass drinks is a answer that is going to pay more then what it is worth then why not no one is forcing you to drink that is your choice. Mt. Airy did it so it sounds like it is paying off. and since folks like coming here from Mt, Airy they will have another choice.  (Jan 3, 2009 | post #5)

ban this bastard breed..killer pits

I use to live next to two pit bulls with two young children 2 & 9 years old with only a six foot fence between us. Th neighbor had them in a fenced yard and chained until they got use to the sounds around them he would bring one out side on a leash and my children would go one at a time and pet them and he would explain to never go to pet them unless he or his wife were there. His dogs were older and very set in their ways but we never had a problem even with our dogs. I know I was very fortunate. I would even go feed them while they went on vacation. It is true they can be unpredictable but so can so many other breeds.  (Jan 3, 2009 | post #439)

Surry schools will limit bus routes

some county school districts have adopted if you are in a rural area and basically the only one out there the school district will pay you to drive your child back and forth to school both win that way the county saves enough of a % and you get enough to cover your expense. One QUESTION I would like to bring up some middle schools and HS students ride the same bus. I would like to know the number of incidents that happen on these buses a 11th or 12th grader typically are a lot bigger then a 6th or 7th grader and the main job of the bus driver is to pay attention to the road to get our kids safe from one place to another. The school board could and should have either parents/volunteers ride on the trouble buses to make sure this does not happen. Or, a senior and allow gas money, extra credit diver could sign a sheet showing she/he was there. What do you think?  (Jan 1, 2009 | post #13)
