Effort, improvement mean more than wins for rebuilding team

I register and post a picture so no one can impersonate me. I can see I pegged you perfectly as one who steals his employer's time. Now that you're on your own time, you 'gotta run.' As I surmised, you have no retort to the football points I make but specialize in puerile ad hominem attacks - when not spewing non-sequiturs. It's not your spelling that needs checking, my friend, it's your character, soul and humanity  (Oct 10, 2007 | post #126)

I can spend as much time here as I wish because I'm retired and am a Dolphin fan. I don't have to 'multitask' (steal time from my employer at work to flood a sports comment site with my inanities.) I know you don't own your own business because the vast majority of people who are owners are too busy to waste time the way you do. REPEATEDLY misspelling or misusing the same word or name is not considered a typo - it's ignorance. I feel free to point these things out to morons who call other folks morons. I AM sticking to the topic by repeatedly pointing out that your perceived knowledge of the situation is wrong. Go over to MiamiDohins.com and read Andy Kent's article from yesterday. Here is a person who has covered the Fins for longer than you've been alive, probably - since 1980. But, of course, YOU know everything so I won't hold my breath for you to gain anything from his knowledge or his assessment. I'm glad you like my picture. It's real. Put yours up, if you can figure out how. We'll all be waiting.  (Oct 10, 2007 | post #123)

Why don't you and your main squeeze, pats fan, meet in Alabama and start a family of maroons? You keep threatening to stop being a Fins fan and yet you are here more than anyone else. Grow up and settle down with the patsie. You can both cheer for the cheaters.  (Oct 10, 2007 | post #118)

Let's not talk about stupidity until you master the language, first. Secondly, we are experiencing change now, genius. We have 23 players on the roster who weren't here last year - not to mention a new head coach. I'd say that's change. Thirdly, why is a patsie fan who knows zero about football spending all his time on a Dolphins site?  (Oct 10, 2007 | post #117)

M13 took a potential 16-0 space and turned it into a 0-16 slough of despond with his misplaced intellect. Enough said.  (Oct 9, 2007 | post #109)

Well, genius, I certainly don't draw the line after 5 games. Personally, though I am probably much older than you, I am willing to wait for Cameron to have a three year run to see what happens. I think he is a man of such high character that he would resign after four (the length of his contract) if he failed to improve this team significantly  (Oct 9, 2007 | post #98)

If you were able to read and comprehend, you would see that I have not criticized Belichick (by the way, if you're such a fan of his, you might want to learn how to spell his name,) rather, I have pointed out the facts that his first three seasons as a head coach were not that great and that he was hysterically criticized (just as you choose to criticize Cameron). And yet, he rebuilt a team in the face of that fierce criticism - and it took him four years to get to the playoffs. It takes time to rebuild and you, the genius ex-fan, feel driven to criticize a man whose jock YOU are not fit to sniff, much less hold  (Oct 9, 2007 | post #91)

Oh, you're STILL here? Belichick as a rookie head coach in Cleveland, went 6-10, 7-9, 7-9 his first three years. If you had been a Brownie 'fan', I'm sure you'd have hated him and deserted the scene. As a matter of fact, the fans and media DID hate him for being a guy who made all the wrong moves - cut their favorite players and drafted poorly, etc. etc. - same feces we're hearing today from know-nothings about Cameron whom you've given 5 games to rebuild the team. PLEASE make that 'soon to be ex-fan' disappear SOONER. Bu Bye  (Oct 9, 2007 | post #84)

It's easy to be a fan - you root for your team. What's hard is to be as stultifyingly ignorant as you seem to be. In every game, there is a winner and a loser (ties are extremely rare, these days.) If you promise to give your full effort and do so, what more can you do? If you give your full effort and still lose, are you supposed to quit and refuse to play the next game? No, you once again give the next game your full effort. You seem to think that a big paycheck and a guarantee that you will win is all it takes. What a load. Go have Mum change your diapers.  (Oct 9, 2007 | post #68)

Who the heck does this Michael Cunningham guy think he is? He can't just sit down and write a well-reasoned article that doesn't include a search for everyting negative tbat can be found. This sounds suspiciously like accurate reportage rather than opinion. Fire this guy right away. We don't need any positive, or even neutral, views about the Dolphins. Let us delight in our misery and negativity.  (Oct 9, 2007 | post #20)

Best to let Beck develop naturally

In regards to your political comments, I'll be briefer than you. This is a football blog. Petraeus was confirmed for his present role by an 81-0 vote of the Senate. He recently presented HIS version of what he saw transpiring in Iraq. There were positive points, cautiously put forward. Mustering more expertise and knowledge in politics than you display in football, I'll repeat my claim that the surge is working. Because you are a full-fledged victim of 'Bush Derangement Syndrome', you choose to attack Bush's daughter Jenna because her interviewer asked about her upcoming wedding. As the underhanded spinmeister you are, you fail to mention that the majority of the interview revolved around the wonderful humanitarian work that the young Ms. Bush is doing with UNICEF in the Carribean and Jamaica, her teaching career and her book about a young black girl who is suffering with HIV. You're a real class act, Hooker. As for my family - one of immigrants to this great country - my brother and I both served in the military. I joined the Navy and served during the Vietnam era on an aircraft carrier. My brother made a career of the Army, serving in Vietnam (two tours) and continued working as a civil servant after retirement. I am too old to re-enlist, so it is a moot point to discuss what I should do for my belief in the 'surge'. Although you claim to be an Independent who once voted for Bush, why are all your views so steeped in leftist cant? I will tell you that I believe this is the greatest, most decent, most generous, most well-intentioned country on the face of the earth. I believe we have been suckered into a war against evil religious fanatics who are bent on forcing their ideas upon the whole world. I believe they should be opposed rather than surrendered to.  (Sep 30, 2007 | post #189)

Hooker, thanks for taking all that time to display, quite dramatically, how your concise, pinpoint reasoning arrives at logical conclusions - NOT. I would doubt that you worked professionally as a spinmeister were it not for the egregious exaggerations that indicate you probably did on some small scale. You have set yourself up as judge and jury of Cameron on the basis of an offseason, preseason and less than a quarter of the real season. You have convicted him of incompetence based on your expertise in football gained from what experience? If the truth is on your side, why does one need to invent spin? A few of your spins to invent your points: You have accused Cameron of 'firing shots' at Ronnie Brown. Show us where he has said anything other than he is a player 'in ascendancy'. You say Cameron 'is getting near the end of his life.' He is 46 years old. How old are you to think this the end? Having lived the extraordinary life you tell us about, you must be over 26 yourself. Enjoy your last 20 years, Hooker. You accuse Cam of purposely destroying and denigrating the team so he can have job security by taking longer to rebuild..."is he trying to tell us and Wayne H.. that he needs 9 years to rebuild because his running back is no good either." Cameron has told Huizenga that he doesn't consider what he is doing rebuilding and Huizenga has repeated that to the press. We all know that some rebuilding is necessary and underway. Cameron prefers to call his team 'a work in progress.' So he is demonstrably NOT trying to fool Wayne. You say Trent Green is a '38 years old man.' Why exaggerate when 37 is old enough? You think Beck will not start playing until "well into his thirties." The man just turned 26 and is expected to start in a year, two at most. Why 'spin' unless your case is weak? You again insist that this team is so weak - this is THREE games into the season, mind you - that the rookies MUST start. I repeat what I said in an earlier response to you, "The bottom line in this league is WINNING. You will NOT find coaches who forfeit games just so their rookies can gain game experience. Your assessment of the team's capabilities this season (2-4 wins, if lucky) may prove correct (I see them winning more) but allow the men who see these guys in practice every day to make the decisions." Again, what experience in your spin career gives you the expertise to second guess the experienced football minds? I will grant you that talent evaluators make many mistakes - NO ONE hits all the draft picks. But, again, what gives YOU the right to call Cam ans Mueller's choices failures at such an early stage? You accuse Green of having 6 turnovers in the Cowboy game. Not true - look it up. Again why spin if the truth is in your court? All in all, in a long-winded rant, you present nothing but inaccuracy and spin to rebut my original response to your first rant.  (Sep 30, 2007 | post #188)

I love it when people who have no idea what thay are talking about tell a veteran coach what he needs to do. I realize these forums are for folks to spout off, but... If you had listened to any of Cameron's news briefings, you would be aware that he has been asked about this very thing. His quite reasonable response is that each situation is unique. Some rookies are able to play right away and fill a need (Satele, Mauia), others play on special teams until the game slows down for them and they can fill the role for which they were drafted. There is a learning curve and until they can prove they will perform at the same level as the player they replace, it makes no sense to rush them. These situations are where the experience of the coaches enter into making the decisions that put the players on the field. The bottom line in this league is WINNING. You will NOT find coaches who forfeit games just so their rookies can gain game experience. Your assessment of the team's capabilities this season (2-4 wins, if lucky) may prove correct (I see them winning more) but allow the men who see these guys in practice every day to make the decisions. Have they made mistakes in the past? Of course. Ron Wolfe saw something in B. Lorenzo Favre that Jerry Glanville didn't. Does that make a hooker a genius? I don't think so. P.S. General Petraeus' surge is working  (Sep 29, 2007 | post #182)
