It's a waste of time talking to you. You are still under their cult brainwashing.  (Jan 9, 2011 | post #126)

I am not afraid of anything. I refuse to let them control my life any longer so no need to be private. Besides what has been done has been done.. There is nothing more they will do. There are no secrets.  (Jan 9, 2011 | post #122)

I'm sorry I trained them to be witnesses in their early years. I am thrilled to have had my eyes opened to the truth and out from under their brainwashing  (Jan 9, 2011 | post #121)

Impartial advice please

no.. I do believe still that the Holy Spirit is God's Active Force.. however.. I have not come to terms with how I feel about Jesus as the almighty God. The scriptures say he was his son. He said he referred to his Father.. so I have yet to have someone explain to me clearly enough how they can be one and the same.  (Jan 9, 2011 | post #1008)

Merry Christmas!!

my husbands (when we were only dating) said he never saw anyone do Christmas as big as I do.. its a passion I think... but then he was raised (since 5 .. how ironic the same age as my mother's conversion to JW).. he was raised as a Muslim. When we were first together I thought how not cool was this.. I finally can celebrate Christmas and I am with a man who does not celebrate Christmas! Thankfully he converted 1 1/2 yrs ago.. so we both celebrate now!  (Jan 9, 2011 | post #629)

I am very happy with the non denominational church we attend. Some of them do witnessing of sorts. I have told them I did enough preaching as a witness.. and that it was a traumatic thing for me.. Thankfully the response was.. we all service in different ways.. no pressure.  (Jan 9, 2011 | post #978)

and actually the congregations I attended after age 19.. between 1978 and 2002 (my last years was a congregation in California).. they were the same as well.  (Jan 9, 2011 | post #114)

omg.. how horrific. AS I mentioned in my reply above, I sincerely believed that it was as I said.. I attended three congregations between my mothers conversion (I was 5) and age 19. They were all the same.. as well near by congregations I visited. So I never thought parents did that. I guess I lived in a better area. Pretty ironic if I can count my blessings... when in many ways I think of those years as traumatic. I still drive by neighborhoods and envision a sidewalk and how it might be to walk up to this strangers door to knock on it.. although it is getting better.. but its been since 2003 when I was in. I hope the day comes when that never crosses my mind! I can't believe your experience with the gun. HOw horrifying! The worst I had was a mean dog. I remember knocking at a door with another young girl. I was probably 15 and she 12. We knocked and knocked.. no answer.. then I noticed this rope all curled up in a circle on the lawn. I realized a dog must be attached to that rope. Something told me to run. I told her so.. we ran to the car. The dog can barreling out at us.. and attempting to bite us the entire way. I could see out of the corner of my eye... his teeth at our feet. My heart was pounding and when we finally reached the car (no.. they didnt' move the car closer!) he ran out of rope... and they were laughing in the car. THey actually thought it was funny. I was so angry. (My mother was not in the car btw.. it wasn't family)  (Jan 9, 2011 | post #113)

my apologies if it seemed I was condescending. I did not mean to be at all and I was only speaking from my experience. My mistake if not all behaved the same elsewhere. That was the way it was in the congregations I attended in the upper midwest (northern MN and WI, as well as northern IN) I assumed (perhaps my mistake) that all witnesses behaved the same. I wouldn't understand if all are brainwashed the same, why all parents in all states or countries would not have felt the need under the way they think to not only go door to door but train their children to do so. I am far from above anyone. and I sincerely apologize for any thing I may have inferred. I think perhaps I defend the individuals when I think about it.. because it is easier to believe no harm was meant.. that they were just as brainwashed as I was for many years. I brought my children in the field service too.. although to be honest I don't remember forcing them to give their own presentation. I only asked them to walk to the door with me. I was always fearful at the doors. I ONLY went because of pressure. And I never pressured my children into baptism. I am soooooo glad I never did. Even after we all left (my children as well even though their dad is still baptized) it took years for my children to be ok with the holidays. This is something I will hold against myself forever. I feel I robbed them. Funny.. I don't hold that against my mother. I guess because to this day she is still brainwashed.. but my eyes were opened.. long after my children where minors and I wish I could give them back the years they should have had holidays. Thank God (and I mean that) I didn't push them to baptism.... any way.. I am rambling... I was only speaking on behalf of my experiences.  (Jan 9, 2011 | post #112)

Is topix an apostate website?

One does not have to do anything to build a case against the Society... note I did not say JWs.. because they are people who I do not have issue with. but the GB.. they build it all by themselves.  (Jan 9, 2011 | post #107)
