Santa Cruz teen badly beaten on Westside beach; no arrest...

One was a black man, another attacker was a white teenager, third attacker was a man, fourth was a Latino teenager. At least it was a diverse group. The westside is showing that young men of all races can come together for a good beat down.  (Jun 15, 2010 | post #9)

Laird, Blakeslee campaigns go on the attack in high-stake...

Wow, based on the comments here I don't want to vote for either one. Hmmm, maybe I will just have to do a little studying myself and decide who I think is best for the job. Wow, imagine if more people thought for themselves and didn't listen to the extremists that always exist on both sides of an issue or politician. Maybe then huge amounts of money wouldn't be spent on smear campaigns that seems to be so widespread amongst all the candidates.  (Jun 12, 2010 | post #22)

Police, DEA bust methamphetamine distributor at seedy San...

It sure appears that law enforcement all over the county have been stepping up over the past couple of weeks. Keep it up men and women of law enforcement. Most residents are fully supportive of your actions and calling in whatever help is needed to make a difference. And to all of the county politicians, this is what is needed. All of you should and need to fully support the efforts of ridding the county of criminals. We are for the first time in a very long time gaining momentum in arresting the sources of so many of our problems. Yes, there's a long way to go, but at least something is finally happening.  (Jun 11, 2010 | post #34)

Suspect in rock-throwing vandalism cases across the count...

On the other hand, in this day and age, their names and photos are instantly posted all over the internet and will forever be available to anyone who's interested. Of course the suspects that are later found to be perfectly innocent of any crime also have to be forever accused.  (Jun 10, 2010 | post #15)

Two women and 3-year-old child were held at gunpoint for ...

I have to love the Sentinel and how on top of everything they are. Amazing, just amazing. A horiible and scary crime for 2 woman and a child to go through. Can't help but wonder if it was somehow drug related. Even if this property was clean, it's always possible the punks were looking for a previous tenant or just had the wrong house. Sounds like it was fairly well planned and don't think an armed takeover with 3 men would have been random. I hope they got enough ivedence to catch them before they strike again.  (Jun 10, 2010 | post #16)

Suspect in rock-throwing vandalism cases across the count...

Good to hear that he's off the street's. Surprised to hear he's 22. I really hope he goes away for a long time and that he takes his 2 friends with him. Interesting to note that just this morning I heard on the scanner that SCPD was responding to a vehicle that had it's window smashed with a rock during the night. I also heard last night that both SCPD and sheriffs responded to a number of calls of rocks thrown out of a pick up truck at people as it drove by. Appears that we have plenty of others out there still getting their kicks doing really stupid and dangerous acts. Maybe this arrest will at least scare these others into hiding and stop their actions... though I would like nothing more then for them to be caught.  (Jun 10, 2010 | post #5)

Suspected meth house raided near Santa Cruz elementary sc...

Since you seem to know so much about this, I'm sure you have properly notified law enforcement with all the details. This meth house was busted thanks to concerned citizens and I'm sure your also an upstanding citizen.  (Jun 8, 2010 | post #24)

Nice bust. I'm glad they have these 2 off the streets and behind bars where the belong. I can't help but feel so sorry for the 2 kids, they have had such an awful and traumatic life so far. I hope that they are provided the help they need to get past the tragedies that their parents have caused.  (Jun 8, 2010 | post #22)

Investigation leads to arrest at Maple Street home

I hope the SC in your name stands for Southern California or South Carolina or anything except Santa Cruz. You disgust me and don't represent a true Santa Cruzen.  (Jun 5, 2010 | post #18)

Police release video clip of suspected Santa Cruz vandals

Where was this video taken? Did a crime happen here? It almost looks like at least one of them is carrying a couple of rocks. If I remember correctly, some of the first cases happened in Scotts Valley including someone having rocks stolen from their yard there. Have they checked known trouble makers? Have any window bashings happened in the last few weeks. It's possible that the window bashing punks have recently been busted for something else and are out of action.  (Jun 3, 2010 | post #2)

Ben Lomond teen missing for several days

Lol, my thoughts exactly. Not only do I agree with lol here, but I agreed with a post Becky made yesterday! Maybe if everyone can find a bit of common ground, we can all make progress improving what everyone agrees are serious problems going in Santa Cruz today.  (Jun 3, 2010 | post #31)

Scotts Valley approves environmental study for unknown re...

It's interesting how most of the arguments that opponents of a target or large retail going in there can be turned around to make a case for building it there. I have heard the same people mention that it would negatively impact traffic and that a better location would be one of the vacant properties along SV drive. I just don't get that. A location right next to freeway on and off ramps seems like the best place from a traffic perspective. Definitely better then the middle of SV drive and removed from the freeway. Plus if it's around vacant properties on SV drive, it would attract other big box stores that would group around it. The La Madrona property would not allow any other large stores to be build next to a Target. We need a strong well rounded tax base in SV. Target or a like business should be part of that. As for the argument that it would drive all the local mom and pops out of business, hog wash. Yeah maybe one or two that are already failing would use a new store as an excuse when they close. Chain stores coming into Santa Cruz have shown time and time again that competition is a good thing, and the local small stores should only gain from it if they know what there doing. Business's big and small have to constantly change and improve themselves so that they can suceed. Besides, I think there's plenty of people, young and old, that would jump at a chance to get a job there. Maybe keep a few of them out of trouble.  (Jun 3, 2010 | post #9)

Kelly's French Bakery opens new ice cream shop

If your a fan of ice cream and like trying different brands, you need to check out Scotts Valley Market. They have the largest selection I have ever seen and must have close to 2 dozen different brands.  (Jun 2, 2010 | post #9)

Gang dropout, niece attacked by teen

I congratulate the young man on leaving the gang and working on a fresh start. However, I'm sure he knows the code of gangs and he probably should not have been walking the streets of his old haunts... especially with his young niece.  (Jun 2, 2010 | post #9)
