Ex-Navy SEAL launches Senate bid

There have been 16 republican presidents who have served in the military in some form or fashion, there have been 8 Democrats. . . there were 3 Whigs a party that later fractured with a majority joining the republican party and 1 independent with military service, (George Washington). funny how that works out isn't it?  (Feb 13, 2013 | post #52)

Bergen: New story of bin Laden's death

He will be able to get a job, people like him will land on thier feet more times than not and when he turns 60 he will get a pension for his military service. He gets five years of medical care for any reason that could be remotely tied to military service from the VA no questions asked because he is a OIF/OEF veteran and he will probably qualify for a higher tier than 6, probably a 3 or more. He also understood all of this before he got out and had to sign papers saying that he did.  (Feb 12, 2013 | post #1)

LA Cops Dismiss Claims in Alleged Killer Chris Dorner's '...

Funny how the biggest man hunt in southern California only gets a passing mention on Topix. Could it be that Chris Dorner is an avowed lib, supports draconian gun control and lauds everything on the liberal agenda? Probably. The LAPD have a huge problem. This guy was fired in 2009, in the Navy he was an intelligence officer. He has had four years of training by the LAPD, over a decade of training from the Navy Intelligence community. This guy is no joke and should not be dismissed by the LAPD as being irrelevant. Chris Dorner has had four years since he was fired to use all of his intelligence training to plan and execute the plan he has had ample time to put into place. He has had four years to make caches, rally points, stock his rally points with supplies and sustenance. The Sheriff today said they were concentrating their search around the area where they found his truck. Really? He is long gone, surely he has taken weather and terrain into consideration in his four years of planning. This guy has planned his executions and his escape. Hopefully he is taken soon, no one deserves to die by thisdickhead's hand. Two to the head, as he is probably wearing body armor.  (Feb 8, 2013 | post #3)

Taking Note: Arpaio to Arm Volunteers With Assault Rifles

Cherry pick, Cherry pick, there were more Guard used in WW2, than WW1, or Vietnam, or Desert Sotrm, most of the soldiers in WW2 were Guard. 80% of the first Ranger units in WW32 were Guard. Vietnam not so much. I think you are obsessed with my saying that every major conflict had more Guard than regular Army, you are right Vietnam and Desert Storm had less. Every other conflict had more Guard, because that is what there was, a small standing Army and the Guard, Revolutionary War, militia, the forerrunner to the Guard, War of 1812, militia; Civil War, milita, War of 1812, militia; WW1 National Guard, I know Wikipedia says that only 40% of the soldiers in WW1 were Guard but that doesn't coinside with the National guard history. The regular army only had eight divisions deployed, the National Guard had 35 divisions deployed to Europe, most of them in France, WW2 National Guard; Korea, National Guard; Vietnam, Regular Army and Reserves, Desert Storm, Regular Army and Reserves, Iraq and Afghanistan, Again I know that as of the writing of the Wikipedia page only around 300,000 Guardsmen had deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, to date the National Guard has provided a minimum of 55,000-100,000 soldiers and airmen a year to deployments overseas since 9/11 over 600,000- 1.3 million troops in 13 years, (active force is only held at 550,000)the difference between National guard and active being that Active duty has way more attrition than the Guard, as Guardsmen tend to go back to work, (if they can find it) between deployments, while Active Duty soldiers end to do four years and out. Seems to me that the Guard has been an integral part and provided most of the troops in ALMOST every major engagement the United States has been in. Just because you refuse to be part of the less than 1% to ever serve your country doesn't mean you have to get mad. You ought to be happy that others are doing the job you don't or wouldn't want. Look at how much of a better life you have had for your non service!  (Feb 5, 2013 | post #143)
