Child-safety issues in focus at two-day conference

This conference sounds like a good plan. Hopefully topics on how to keep children safe while they are participating in physical activities like hiking, swimming, and sports will be touched on. There is so much that children have to face, adults and parents should not let something simple like a dip in the pool be one more danger. The Department of Boating and Waterways has some helpful information on their website: http://bit.ly/uZ3Z A  (Sep 23, 2009 | post #3)

Giusti to head Invasive Species Council

From the Great Lakes to Clear Lake, these mussels are making a home here in the states. And it seems like it’s a small problem, but from the information available these mussels are making big trouble especially with water delivery systems. Hopefully boaters and anglers will take the warnings seriously and check their boats every time they pull their boats out of the lake. This video clip explains the problem pretty well: http://bit.ly/X0XK F.  (Sep 17, 2009 | post #1)

Gun shop aims to educate

Ed Tubbs makes an excellent point about education being the first tool used to eliminate fear. That’s what Cal Boating’s Safety Team has being working on. Like gun safety, water safety is key in keeping people alive while enjoying boats and the water. When used safely, guns can make for enjoyable sports and boats are the same way. Good luck to Ed and his pursuit of safety education. If you are looking for some tips on water safety you can find some at: http://bit.ly/3yJN B7.  (Sep 17, 2009 | post #20)

San Bernardino police arrest seven during DUI patrols

Thumbs up to law enforcement for making this a priority. It’s good to see them working to keep the community a little safer. Hopefully they will be able to keep an eye on boaters as well. Driving a boat and drinking is just as common as driving a car under the influence and just as dangerous (maybe more so). The Department of Boating and Waterways has more information on their website: http://bit.ly/uZ3Z A. Don’t drink and drive; don’t boat and drive!  (Sep 17, 2009 | post #4)

Injuries avoided in 101 crash

It’s amazing that no one was seriously injured. It pays to go a little slower and take a little extra time to be careful. Whether it’s on the road or on the water, there is no replacement for taking safety seriously and driving carefully. Cal Boating’s Safety Team has some helpful information for boaters who want to be more careful on the water: http://bit.ly/3yJN B7.  (Sep 11, 2009 | post #9)

Silverwood will float your boat

It’s true. These little invasive mussels are becoming an issue all over California and the Pacific Northwest. It’s hard to tell their full impact on our waterways, but we do know that they don’t belong here and we can all do something to stop them from spreading even farther. The Department of Boating and Waterways is offering information on their website: http://bit.ly/uZ3Z A.  (Sep 9, 2009 | post #1)

Yorkville boy killed in crash on Highway 128

Sometimes life it just tragic without any real reason, so that’s why it’s important to not add to it with our own mistakes, like drinking and driving, or boating and driving. Taking safety seriously will help make life a little easier and a little less tragic. For anyone going out on the water, stop by the Department of Boating and Waterway’s website for safety information: http://bit.ly/uZ3Z A. Have fun! Be safe!  (Sep 4, 2009 | post #1)

CHP urges safety this holiday weekend

It’s encouraging to see that Law Enforcement is taking public safety seriously. By being a little more careful and keeping alcohol out of the driver’s seat, more people will make it home safely. California’s Department of Boating and Waterways is doing the same. Their Safety Team’s website has more information: http://bit.ly/3yJN B7. Coast Guard gearing up for influx of boats - Redwood Times

Safety should be the top priority of any boater or angler out on the water. Everyone can do the small things to keep California’s waterways safe and enjoyable. Just take an extra look around the boat or take an extra second to put on a life jacket. That extra effort will mean a lot if something goes wrong.
