Pre_Launch Drive Test

1. Frequency Lock Test: This test should be conducted on all sectors in the site. • Stay about 70-100m away from the test sector. • Be sure that the MS camp on this sector on idle mode. • Lock the MS on the BCCH frequency of the cell to be tested; usually M900 for Co-BCCH cell. If it’s a separate BCCH cell, each band (M900 & M1800) would have to be tested separately. MS prefers to camp on M900 BCCH carrier in idle mode and M900 BCCH carrier TCH while setting up call. After call Set-up, MS prefers to camp on M1800 TCH carriers. • Run a series of short calls of 30 seconds on all the TRX/Carriers of each sector observing the Rx-level on each carrier. Based on the Site/cell configuration, ensure the MS camps on each of the TCH Carrier in dedicated mode paying attention to MS hopping from one TCH carrier to another. 2. Coverage/Handover Test: This test should be conducted on all sectors in the site. • Stay directly underneath the test sector. • Be sure that the MS camp on test sector on idle mode. • Run a long call from underneath the test sector till it Hands Over to a neighboring cell of another site. If there is no neighboring cell to handover to or availability issue with the target cell, watch how far the call can be sustained on the test sector until the call drop due to low Rx level 3. Sector Handover/Shake down DT (Clockwise and Anti-Clockwise): This test should be conducted in both clockwise and anticlockwise direction. • Stay 300m away from the site in front of sector 1. • Run a long call from Sector 1 to Sector 3 in clockwise direction. Do the same from Sector 3 to Sector 1 in the anti-clockwise direction. Ensure the sectors are handing over to each other in both clockwise and anti-clockwise direction.  (Nov 27, 2010 | post #1)
