The night they drove old Dixie down

Those from the 60's well remember "the night they drove old Dixie down" by the "Band." I had forgotten even the name of Levon Helm of the "Band," but the song, in its day, was as well known as Dick Clark. The loss of two greats in the music industry within as many days reminds us of a fact that we don't like to think of--the mortality of each of us, who in our youth never worried about climbing that mountain called old age; however much we wish, the only way to return to the bottom are the memories of the road we took.  (Apr 19, 2012 | post #1)

Early Sutton

If only yesterday were here. Life is like a cloud--it's never clear; it's here; it's there; and then it's gone.  (Apr 2, 2012 | post #1)

Yes, Bob has probably bought himself out of trouble more than once. As long as he engages his identity with those of his own gender of legal age and of mutual consent, I don't see a problem. WE ARE THE PROBLEM. We all live in glass houses, so who wants to throw the first stone. Shakespear said that "life is a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more." He also said "that the evil that men do, live after them." If you believe in God, then death is the leveler of all men, rich and poor, great and not so great. Bob is not the problem. The problem is how we use that hour upon the stage; if you want to strut and fret, then encourage all the poor to vote. You cannot make right all the wrongs in the world. Jesus tried and we nailed him to a cross. But you can make a difference. There's more poor than rich in the world. There's strength in numbers. Remember that lawyers, judges and other purveyors of justice DO NOT PRACTICE JUSTICE--THEY PRACTICE LAW. And sometimes the law is an ass.YOU KNOW THE TREE BY ITS FRUIT--SEND THE BAD ONES PREMATURILY OFF THE STAGE. It's sometimes a life-long battle but at the end it seems but just an hour. Your little town is a microicism of the world at large and it's man burden to possess an innate nature to do both good and bad. How we spend our hour is what's important. You can make a difference!  (Mar 14, 2012 | post #57)
