It doesn't really matter what you see, honey babe. The simple fact of the matter is there are more people like US than there are people like YOU. I work for a large research university in San Francisco and am surrounded by liberals on a daily basis. I was also a Political Science undergrad before I became a technology professional...and I'm going to tell you the same thing I tell these people here. It's not the United States of northern California, Hawaii and the west coast, the upper midwest, the mid Atlantic, Maryland and the northeast. It's the United States of AMERICA...and in that country there are tons and tons of people who like the Palins and sympathize with them and connect with them. That's the rub. That's how it is. Frankly, I think the time has come for the Democratic party to split in half. What's happening to the party right now is precisely what happened to it in 1968, 1972, 1980 and 1988. It isn't one party, it's two: the centrist DLC and the hard left, and the hard left is once again in control just as it was in 1972. That was the year McGovern lost forty nine states. If nothing changes, right now Obama is shaping up to be not another McGovern but more likely another Kerry. You need to fix your party if you don't want this kind of thing to happen again and again and again. It's your party. It's your problem. (Sep 8, 2008 | post #63)
Yes, it would. But it'll never happen as long as there's a possibility of the UAW getting their hands on it. (Sep 3, 2008 | post #3)
This just showed up about an hour ago: http://www.msnbc.m sn.com/id/26511875 / There's another guy who couldn't stop smoking. What a shame. (Sep 2, 2008 | post #5)
That was the first name that came to mind when I heard the news. Ernie Anderson was a great guy but he couldn't give up his cigarettes. That's what killed him. (Sep 2, 2008 | post #4)
Hear, Hear... They're saying Obama's aggregate polls took a hit after he nominated Biden. I don't think I've ever seen that happen before. The country is in a real mess. (Aug 26, 2008 | post #4)
Yes, I knew Dawn and Wendy also. We're supposed to be a nation of laws and the law says he gets the needle. Hopefully it'll be sooner rather than later. But he SHOULD hang. (Aug 25, 2008 | post #76)
Self loathing or not, I knew those two girls and I know what he did to them. They should hang him with a long drop, just like they do in the Middle East. (snap) (Aug 25, 2008 | post #1)
http://www.capital punishmentuk.org/o verview.html Hanging is surprisingly popular these days. Even the Japanese use it. (Aug 25, 2008 | post #62)
Can you imagine the crowd's reaction when they'd put the hood over his head and the rope around his neck? THAT is how it should be. That's still how it is in many of the Asian countries. (Aug 25, 2008 | post #61)
I believe Utah still offers firing squad as an option. Personally, I like the idea of hanging a little better. (Aug 25, 2008 | post #41)
You're wrong. http://www.cumberl ink.com/articles/2 008/07/20/opinion/ editorial/doc487f4 3a7ba2cd206068923. txt Act 44 is settled law. A few Congressmen are trying to get a judge to hold it back but it's gonna happen. (Aug 17, 2008 | post #15)
Look, this kind of thing is already common in southern states. It's been spreading across Texas and Florida for a number of years. The infrastructure needs in that part of the country are significant and that costs money. Trucks aren't going to use US 322 or US 22 or US 6 or I-68 because it doesn't make sense. This should happen and I think it will happen. (Aug 17, 2008 | post #14)
The Erie and Niagara sections of the NYS Thruway are very nice roads that require A LOT of care due to the severe winters that part of the country experiences. (Aug 15, 2008 | post #5)
It isn't old, it's prehistoric. There has been talk about tolling I-80 across Pennsylvania for over twenty years. The Federal waiver to allow it already exists. It was in an infrastructure bill several years ago. That's why so many people in Pennsylvania are up in arms about it. They know it's gonna happen. I've traveled that road so often in my life that I could almost navigate it with my eyes closed and one night about twenty years ago, I almost did. If having a toll means the road can receive the badly needed upgrades it requires, more power to them. (Aug 15, 2008 | post #4)
It'll be kind of hard to have Obama as president when he has to carry two states in the general election (Ohio and Pennsylvania) which he could not carry in the primary. He's also not doing very well in Virginia and Colorado within the past several weeks due to all the stuff that's happening with the Russians coming into Georgia to take control of those oil pipelines. The combination of failing to carry those four states would be the ballgame for him. You can put his picture on the wall right next to Mondale and Dukakis and Gore and Kerry.
