Public schools like most other government run entities have no incentive to strive for excellence. They get the money no matter how well they perform and the children whose parents can't afford independent or private school get the shaft. The answer is vouchers and parental choice!  (Monday Apr 25 | post #3)

Adrian Miller's Folly

The basis for all your posts under all of your user names is your opposition to alcohol. How refreshing it would be if you would show us the courage of your convictions by using your real name!  (Thursday Apr 21 | post #5)

Adrian Miller's Folly

First, most buildings are eye sores while under construction. Second, Mr. Miller is a city employee not an elected official.  (Wednesday Apr 20 | post #2)

Sorry, friend, that's a fuel oil tank for an oil furnace. There were three gasoline tanks which were much bigger.  (Mar 31, 2016 | post #14)

BTW, I also witnessed the tanks being removed since the station was across the street from my office.  (Feb 25, 2016 | post #9)

There are no records. That was the point in removing the tanks before the rule went into effect.  (Feb 25, 2016 | post #8)

As usual, Don, you can't refute me so you get personal.  (Sep 2, 2015 | post #30)

A vibrant central business district that is the envy of neighboring towns. Restaurants. Better grocery stores because they can sell beer and wine. Young natives who stay here or return after college. More young families. There was plenty of drinking in Belmont before legal alcohol sales. A lot of it was done illegally including in cars and associations which I won't name. As I said in a previous post, anti-alcohol forces never let the truth get in the way of their narrative.  (Sep 2, 2015 | post #28)

Doubt if Curious lives anywhere near Belmont. If he did he wouldn't be that uninformed.  (Aug 21, 2015 | post #21)

If Belmont world have stayed away from selling alcohol

I was born in Belmont, lived in Charlotte for eight years after college, and moved back in 1984. At that time textile industry was still fairly strong here but downtown was dying a slow death. Even after much building renovation and the city's downtown improvements, downtown was still declining. Only after alcohol sales passed did downtown really become vibrant. Our young people used to go off to college and never return. Now they are coming home and many more young people are choosing to rear their families here. Since Belmont doesn't have an ABC store, direct revenues go to Cramerton or Mount Holly. You may not like them but those are the facts.  (Aug 21, 2015 | post #8)
