I deny that Metroparks takes precedence over the Model Airplane Club. . . . . . . This editorial is biased . . . . . . I wouldn't mind if the editorial writer got clobbered by an errant model airplane. . . . . . . hec2buck's comment is excellent . . . (I wish that there were a real name attached to the comment; it would make the comment more forceful) Who is Keith Shy to question whether or not the Model Airplane Club even belongs at the fairgrounds? . . . . . What a weak, trumped-up objection that is. Sincerely Robert M Kraus Akron (Jun 25, 2008 | post #3)
Carlin leaves behind society still struggling with words
Caro and Jeffers said you won't see the 'seven words' in this newspaper. Are they stating a policy of the Tribune? or are they making fun of it? (Jun 24, 2008 | post #10)
Model airplane group looks for new home
Model airplanes flying over MetroParks land must be an extremely important issue . . . with the MetroParks, that is. They brought in both big guns of the MetroParks to talk to the Summit County Council on Monday. Ms Curtis said "planes are incompatible with the park district and will pose a safety risk for visitors". That is all that was reported in the newspaper article. I think that there should be a more precise explanation by MetroParks people about incompatibility and safety. How about it Ms Curtis and Mr Shy? R M Kraus . . . Akron (Jun 23, 2008 | post #4)

Everything is going so orderly in Iraq and Afghanistan . . . . an attack here, ten are killed . . . . . an attack there, three US soldiers are killed . . . all of this is categorized and duly reported to Congress and the Pentagon and to US citizens. . . . and not a damned thing is being done to bring the troops home r m kraus, akron ohio (Jun 23, 2008 | post #97)
George Carlin mourned as a counterculture hero
I think that Carlin had a perverted view of mankind. He delighted in shocking people with his deliberately foul mouth. It takes all kinds to make a world. I pray that he has achieved eternal salvation. (Jun 23, 2008 | post #6)

Where did the herpetologist come from? Herpetologists are rare animals; it takes a lot of study and research to be a herpetologist. (Jun 21, 2008 | post #2)

He pushed limits of architecture
Mr Netsch got around. He had a connection at Miami University in Oxford Ohio; he designed a small library building at the Western College branch of Miami. In 1979 our oldest daughter graduated from Miami, and Netsch delivered the commencement address. In 1980 our next daughter graduated from Northwestern University, and, lo and behold, Netsch delivered the commencement address. I am an architect, and, frankly, I think that he was a better speaker than architect. However, I deem the Air Force Academy chapel to be a masterpiece, and I expect that it will have a long life. And worse, there are always wmoen around who seek and use the services of these butchers. Robert M Kraus Akron (Jun 12, 2008 | post #126)

Chapter `comes to an end': Bentley leaves Browns
Clay Mathews . . . . now there was a football player! He loved to play. He was all over the place. Nothing could stop him. I wish that someone like Mathews would show up for the Browns. (Jun 11, 2008 | post #13)
Ex-ref Tim Donaghy details NBA improprieties
Isn't this fascinating? Another little tidbit has been added to the soup (NBA). Stern is just too serious about these things. The NBA is just packed full with spellbinding stories. Talking about shenanigans, the Van Horn caper is a dandy. Zillionaire Van Horn sits on the Nets' bench and collects four mil for that. Cuban says Keith is a guy of high integrity. A lot of shady stuff goes on, and that's fascinating. R M Kraus Akron (Jun 11, 2008 | post #4)
