Vatican: excommunication for female priests -- Christianity

How can the Vatican take such strong stance against woman priests, but yet have such a weak stance against pedophile priests. The Pope really needs to get his priorities straight.  (May 31, 2008 | post #1)

Yea, I agree. How can the Vatican take such strong stance against woman priests, but yet have such a weak stance against pedophile priests. The Pope really needs to get his priorities straight.  (May 30, 2008 | post #2)

2 Amish men back in court over outhouse dispute

I might be wrong, but I don't think that one flushes at all in an outhouse. Therefore, the Amish are already even more "low-flush " than you are, and therefore are actually exceeding the legal requirements limiting water usage.  (May 28, 2008 | post #36)

As gas prices pinch government, can tax hikes be near?

Raising taxes? No way! They all need to cut back, just like the rest of us. Screw the government employees who drive around, by themselves, in GIANT SUV's like Suburbans.  (May 28, 2008 | post #21)

Boy Scouts sue city of Philadelphia over rent, gay rights

I was a scout leader for many, many years. My experience is quite different. I have personally witnessed just how district level execs treat boys they "think" might be gay. It isn't a pretty sight. I have even, myself, attempt to step up and defend these fine boys, and was told by the district execs, I better be VERY CAREFUL. That if I continued to support or speak on the behalf of these assumed-gay boys, I WOULD BE DISMISSED as a scout leader. I quit.  (May 27, 2008 | post #72)

Boy Scouts sue city of Philadelphia over rent, gay rights

Well said. BSA just can't enjoy a highly subsidized rental by the city. BSA just has to find another, non-government, place to rent as its local headquarters, and pay what they landload ask. If BSA has a much support as they claim, I am sure they can find a private landload that would be willing to offer them the same $1/year lease deal.  (May 27, 2008 | post #71)

2008 Presidential Election

The pros and cons of an Obama-Clinton ticket

Let me remind you of the great "legacy" of Bill Clinton's free trade agreements. If it wasn't for those, we would be paying at least $10/gal for gas right now. You seem to conveniently forget that part of Clinton's NAFTA agreements, is the part that locks Canada into selling us oil, and at greatly under today's market price. Because of NAFTA, we import more oil from Canada than any other country in the world(18%); more than all of the Middle East combined(11%). And, again, at far less than the current market price. While I, like must people, is shocked at today's $4.00/gal gas prices, I am so very thankful to Clinton that they aren't over $10.00/gal! You should be more thankful too!  (May 26, 2008 | post #419)

2008 Presidential Election

The pros and cons of an Obama-Clinton ticket

Lingering? IMHO, it is exciting. We have a real race with the Democrats, and their delegates have a real reason to vote. In contrast there is the Republican. Is there any doubt who will be their choice? What a total waste of time for the Republican delegates to go to their convention. The Republican delegates have no real choice. No reason to vote. Other than for some odd sense of completion.  (May 26, 2008 | post #293)

PPL chief gets earful on coming rate hikes

No it is not. It is a state controlled utility. A state controlled monopoly. It is tightly control to ensure it does make a profit, but only a reasonable profit. My concern is that PPL portrays itself as being on the verge of bankruptcy with today's rates, when reporting to the PUC. Simultaneously, PPL portrays itself as making more profit than ever with today's rates, when reporting to "Wall Street" and thus the SEC. Well, which is it? It is lying to the PUC or to the SEC? It can't be both! Common sense makes that very clear.  (May 26, 2008 | post #36)

List of Freddys Winners

You bring up a very valid point. "School" productions which use adults (except for the usual faculty advisor), should be disqualified. IMHO, it is plagiarism to present a school's theater production as "student work", when in fact, it isn't 100% student work. Not that it is wrong for schools to do this. It just wrong for them to then complete in the Freddy Awards. It reflects BAD on the State Theatre. And it reflects bad on all the high school principals who permit such plagiarism to go unchecked.  (May 25, 2008 | post #10)

Cheers for job at Yocco's

My son is similarly handicapped. I am quite happy that your daughter was able to find an employer who was willing to accommodate her. My son tried to work at Denny's off of Airport Road. He was fired. Afterward, we ran into an older woman who ate at Denny's reguarly. She told us about how the manager regularly made jokes about my son's handicap in from of both customers and in front of other employees. Basically, the manager was intentionally making for a hostel work environment for my handicapped son. One were he just could not handle the ridicule and constant harassment. Denny's is one VERY BAD employer.  (May 25, 2008 | post #7)
