Man killed while hanging holiday lights

Tragedy, yes. But to say this is part of some "plan" is absurd.  (Dec 1, 2008 | post #6)

Senators track calls over bailout

Oh please...like there weren't any republicans responsible for any of this mess. Many people on both sides failed. Your bias lowers your credibility.  (Oct 2, 2008 | post #30)

Hoosiers have mixed reviews on McCain/Obama

Embryonic stem cells are NOT from aborted babies. Don't fall for the propaganda. They are cells that are from a very early stage of development that occurs during the first two weeks after fertilization before implantation into the uterus. So, the term "embryonic stem cells" is a misnomer. They should be called "pre-embryoni c stem cells". Both adult and "pre-embryoni c" stem cells are vital right now in the early stages of research. Not using both hampers and delays research. Restricting research like this makes me think of the dark ages. This dull thinking goes right along with teaching creationism as science.  (Sep 8, 2008 | post #43)

Small government...I doubt it. The Republican stance of small government is long gone. Probably have to go Libertarian for that. Tax and Spend or Spend and Pay Later seem to be the choices now. McCain might not be too bad, but his choice for VP is. She is against stem cell research and anyone who wants to teach creationism as science is a total goof who has no business running this country. If McCain dies, Palin might actually do more harm to the Constitution than Bush has; which would be tough to do.  (Sep 8, 2008 | post #39)

Support needed for theme park

Drove 12 hours and went to Hard Rock Park over labor day weekend and thought it was GREAT! I'm a big fan of amusement parks and rock music, so this park was a perfect match. Even with two of the five coasters not operating over the weekend, I thought the admission price was reasonable compared to other parks throughout the US. The park was very clean and had many subtle "items" that most people probably overlook (or overhear). If I lived closer I would definitely get a season pass. The Moody Blues Trip ride is awesome and the fireworks show is the best one I've ever seen coordinated to music. Reading through some of the posts, it seems the "locals" want favored treatment. To me, that's what a season pass is for. And it sounds like many people are blaming HRP for the Pavilion Park shutting down, which I don't think was the case. I went to Pavilion Park in its last year and there is no comparison between it and HRP. HRP is 10x the park (just no memories yet). I hope the park survives. To have as many rides (and some top quality ones at that) as it does in its opening year is a major accomplishment. There are many other parks charging more for less and I'd really like to go back.  (Sep 2, 2008 | post #194)

Nasa's Phoenix Lander Discovers Water on Mars

We could also just stick our heads in the sand and then stagnate to a grinding halt. Let's just stop all scientific research. We already know enough so we don't need to expand our knowledge any more. Maybe you need to educate yourself on current science. There have been so many side benefits of the space program that the piddly budget it gets is well worth it.  (Aug 1, 2008 | post #52)

Nasa's Phoenix Lander Discovers Water on Mars

I'm all for it. I'd much rather my taxes pay for sex education and birth control than to pay for a kid for 18+ years. Condoms and pills are much cheaper; and teaching abstinence just isn't working. I personally don't have a problem with abortion, but I think it's up to the people involved to make that decision (i.e. NOT government). And although it would be cheaper to have an abortion, I don't think taxes should go to that either. If one is going to screw around, they need to take responsibility on the outcome (so to speak).  (Jul 31, 2008 | post #43)

I'd much rather spend money on this science that could lead to unknown discoveries than social programs for the inept who can't seem to stop getting pregnant and then can't raise their own kids. Google "Benefits of the Space Program".  (Jul 31, 2008 | post #11)

Officer shot in the head hits milestone

Offering a valid counterpoint might be more useful than just calling me stupid. Pointing out the two misspellings in your wonderful post makes me feel better, but it does nothing for the discussion. If you don't see the value of keeping religion out of public schools and government, then you aren't seeing the big picture if and when your religion isn't the most popular anymore and your fighting to keep "their" religion out of your schools.  (Jul 31, 2008 | post #18)

Because it makes no sense to believe. The separation from church and state is needed so you can believe what you want to, I can believe what I want to, and John Doe can believe what he wants to and as long as the public schools and government stay out of it everybody should get along. This fine officer and his family have proven no miracle. Recovering from a successful surgery happens every day.  (Jul 30, 2008 | post #14)

If he were truly 'blessed', wouldn't he have not been shot in the first place? I find it curious how people find this a blessing. I do wish him well and hope long-term effects are minimal.  (Jul 30, 2008 | post #7)
