Garden thread.

Congratulations Teresa (or whatever your real name is), you just convinced me that there is absolutely no hope of Ripley's Topix forum of being anything other than a complete waste of my time.  (Jan 27, 2013 | post #6)

felony on record

Hello MissMe, While a criminal record definately does not look good on a resume I am sure that there are a few businesses that will hire a convited felon, but I think it would depend heavily on what the felony conviction was & what the position they are hiring for is, for instance any sort of conviction involving the theft of money will probably disqualify you for a position handling money, etc. If you don't mind me asking, what is your felony conviction for? & what sort of educational background & job skill sets do you possess?  (Jan 27, 2013 | post #5)

Thank you for the suggestion Anon, however I was attempting to start "a safe topic" that Ripley folks could possibly participate in without resorting to name calling, muckraking or harrassing each other. On my previous hometown's online forum the gardening thread was very popular, ie: it was one of those those types of threads that once got started had continued to be active for many years, with tens of thousands of posts worth of great information availible to anyone who enjoyed or was interested in learning about gardening.  (Jan 27, 2013 | post #3)

Garden thread.

I am getting ready to start "breaking ground" on my garden & was wondering if anyone else here on the Ripley Topix forum does any gardening. Being from up north I am sure that what works well up there might not work as well down here so if anyone has any advice, suggestions, tips or tricks that they have found that works well in their garden I would really appreciate hearing them. Keep in mind that I am a vegetable gardener & that my cool weather spring crop will consist of beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, both head & leaf lettuce's, onions, sugar snap peas, and maybe, just maybe I will try some red potatoes (I have never had any luck with potatoes though).  (Jan 26, 2013 | post #1)

pooper _ 126 is what ?

You are right, I do not know anything about Pepper. But this isn't just about Pepper, it is about Tennessee Code Annotated 39-17-315 & the folks who get their jollies by repeatedly violating it. Listen, all I want is to be able to use these forums without having to sift through a seemingly endless stream of taunts & teasings from "cyber-bullie s".  (Jan 25, 2013 | post #16)

Outside the Box

Someone correct me if I am wrong but I believe the name of the store across from the Ripley Post Office is called "Almost Anything".  (Jan 25, 2013 | post #49)

Red wolves in lauderdale co,,Have you heard them, could be

Cheesus, Very informative post, thanks for sharing it, but I have to respectfully disagree with the "coyote's & wolves are not dangerous to people or pets" part of your post, I have had several encounters with coyotes, coydogs, feral dogs & even an occasional wolf over the years. Granted you are correct that in the majority of the encounters they were very "skittish " & tried to avoid any sort of human interaction, however (for what ever reason) they became very aggressive, maybe I had gotten to close to a den or maybe their fear of humans was simply overcome by sheer hunger, I can't say for certain. So they most certainly have the ability to be dangerous to people &/or pets, even if they only rarely have the desire to do so. I am not calling you out or anything Cheesus, I just always excersize caution when I encounter any *potentially* dangerous animal while out on my wilderness adventures & I want folks to stay safe by reminding them that those animals are wild animals & as such their behavior can be unpredictable at best.  (Jan 25, 2013 | post #17)

The Brown Hole

Well Brad you do have to admit that, that silly television show & it's cartoonish cast of characters did do a lot of harm to the public's preception of bond enforcement agents & the serious work that they do. I haven't traced a skip in a lot of years but I for one know how difficult & dangerous it can be, good luck to you & be safe man.  (Jan 24, 2013 | post #59)

Well as a Topix newbie I am unaware of the silly games people play on here, but I certainly don't see any reason for anyone to be mean or nasty towards anyone else just to get their jollies.  (Jan 24, 2013 | post #12)

Slim Mustache in Maroon Truck

I am realitively open minded & I am certainly no prude, but I guess I just don't understand why anyone would "knowingly " pursue a short-term relationship that will most likely end badly, producing a lot of drama for all of those directly involved, as well as those indirectly involved. I know that you didn't ask for my advice but I would really like you to consider all of the potential long-term ramifications of such a short-term tryst.  (Jan 24, 2013 | post #19)

who thinks this site needs shut down

My old hometown's local online forum was very similar to that Guest, it was a great local resource & I made a lot of good friends participating in not only the forum discussions but also by participating in all of the various volunteer projects, fund raisers, social meet ups, cookouts, etc, organized on & by the folks on that forum. Not only did we all become very good friends & much better neighbors towards each other, we also did a lot of good for the community at large.  (Jan 24, 2013 | post #22)

I have never understood why some folks feel the need/desire to "bully" other folks.  (Jan 23, 2013 | post #9)

Single guys

Relationships based soley on physical appearence, rarely if ever work out. Best advice I can give is to make a lot of friends, hangout with those you are interested in dating but refrain from "getting serious" until you really get to know the other person. And I am not talking about "the image that they project" but the real person underneath their public facade, that is when you will know whether or not a relationship has a chance of lasting.  (Jan 23, 2013 | post #3)

How to track a phone using gps ?

I'd suggest simply asking, after 7 years together you should be able to tell if they are being truthful or not.  (Jan 22, 2013 | post #8)
