Tomlin knows what the Steelers need

I don't know--I guess it depends on how much faith they have in the little CFL guy, but I'm thinking they'll want insurance at the position. I like the Pat White pick, too, though that would mean probably mean taking him in the 2nd, or trying to move up in the 3rd. Very intriguing.  (Mar 3, 2009 | post #2695)

So Nate Washington signed with the Titans. Good for him. It was his time to cash in, and god knows they need receivers over there. I guess we either pick up somebody immediately useful in the draft and or count on Baker AND Sweed. I think they'll draft a burner as an isurance WR and to return, and eventually cut Baker.  (Mar 2, 2009 | post #2680)

You're just being sensible. I'm being such a geek this year, I think I was scanning mock drafts sites the Tuesday after the big game.  (Mar 2, 2009 | post #2662)

Pittsburgh is 2 Times Better than New England

Making ridiculous statements with out any argument at all to back them up--it's kind of your hobby, isn't it? Why don't you take up recreating Civil War battles with little action figures, or embroidering kitten-themed potholders? You'll embarrass yourself less.  (Mar 1, 2009 | post #68)

I was honestly thinking more about the coaching change. Who's the new guy?  (Mar 1, 2009 | post #1366)

I don't know, Bill. Most drafts have all the blue-chip, ready-out-of-the-box tackles gone by pick #30, but some really good guards still available. If they move Colon, they don't have a tackle, unless Colbert has some FA magic plan up his sleeve, or Tony Hills is miraculously ready to go. Personally, I'm hoping they go DL with pick 1. The Sporting News has them taking DT Paul Kruger out of Utah, and that sounds like a good pick to me.  (Mar 1, 2009 | post #2659)

McFadden would have been a much better signing than Foxworth. The Steelers have always tortured that guy. But he's a local boy, so that's the way they went.  (Feb 28, 2009 | post #1353)

I take it you've all heard that Jeff Satruday signed with the Colts for big money. I guess the Steelers talk was all a ploy to open Indy's wallet, and it worked. Too bad--having that kind of experience and talent anchoring the line was a nice dream while it lasted. Looks like now we're going to have build the thing the old-fashioned way.  (Feb 27, 2009 | post #2637)

I think it's hopeless, UI. This is his big-bucks year, and some team is going to pay him more than we can. Sweed was pretty enigmatic this year (to put it nicely), but one could argue that he simply didn't get enough playing time to let him develop as fast as he should. I think they're going to have to bite the bullet and go with him as number three, unless there's a reasonably-priced veteran they can bring in to ease his transition.  (Feb 27, 2009 | post #2636)

You're not going to find any argument here. The size of T.O.'s ego is conversely proportional to his receiver skills: one balloons as the other shrinks. The Eagles, for one year, had a chance with him because ego and skill were kind of meeting in the middle. Now he's a half-assed receiver and pure diva locker-room cancer, and NO TEAM with him on it will ever be successful, whether they add Ray-Ray or not. Jerry Jones would realize this if he wasn't so profoundly stupid (and didn't have an ego even bigger than T.O.s).  (Feb 26, 2009 | post #1317)

I wasn't being serious about the draft picks. Starks would be crazy to consider playing anywhere else, considering the Steelers seem determined to pay him more than he's worth, and he's won two SB rings here. He's going to sign a long-term deal this summer. Kemo has been a bit of a disappointment, but he still seems like their best option at the moment, unless they draft a blue-chipper who could step in right away (and that might happen--it seems like there are a lot of good guards in this draft). Tackle is more problematic. I think anyone good enough to play as a rookie is going to be long gone by pick #30. I've never really liked Colon, either, but I think we'd better get used to him in that position for another year.  (Feb 23, 2009 | post #2590)

Steelers' conduct 'disgraceful'

I'm not sure he's really a Giants fan. These weasely little pud-pounders from AOL like to flit from thread to thread, never daring to claim a team as their own because they know they're incapable of defending an attack on them.  (Feb 20, 2009 | post #170)

Yeah, Bill's a character and a great guy, and he keeps the smack-talking gentlemanly--something I'm not always willing to do!  (Feb 20, 2009 | post #1270)
