New Harley slogan: 'So screw it, let's ride'
Harley's new slogan "Screw it, let's ride" came from the age-old biker slogan "F__k it! Let's ride!" It was created by one or more guys who, like everybody else, had some bad days, months, or years. It was around in generally simpler, easier, better times, and was, and is, an expression of wanting freedom from life's complications and problems. However, Harley made a mistake by presenting it now, when there are major problems worldwide that need understanding and cooperation from all of us. Also, by replacing "F__k" with "Screw", it lost its funk and power - it sounds adolescent and stupid. They should drop it, read the forums more, talk to Harley owners/riders more, and stay in touch with how we think and feel TODAY. Man! Typos, typos, typos! Lookin' forward to typing being replaced with a better system of writing! Regarding Ducati merging with Harley - NO. Way too many differences in EVERYTHING, especially cultures and lifestyles. Sure, Ducati has generally better tech and engineering. So what? Where's their blues, soul, funk, R&B, and back street? Ray, my advice - ignore the angry, neurotic, anti-Harley morons who plague our forums. Why are they even here? To vent the frustrations and anger of their lives at others. They should be seeing psychologists and psychiatrists, and be on medications, but since most won't, just ignore them. They especially don't like the fact that we enjoy our Harleys, shops, clubs, shows, events, and runs - despite the fact that we know Jap bikes and other foreign bikes have better design, tech, engineering, and reliability. Tito, you have me and the other guys in this forum ROARIN' with laughter! What planet do angry psychos like Galt come from? Typically, people like that have bio-chemical problems and/or unresolved psychological issues, and should be in therapy and on medication. It's riotously funny that he doesn't like us enjoying our Harleys, clubs, runs, and camaraderie, despite the fact that we know and state that rice burners have better technology, engineering, and reliability in many ways. Stupid, ignorant, neurotic, phony, incompetent Bush and his criminal corporate cronies put us into the biggest deficit in American history, did massive damage nationally and internationally, and created more hatred of America than ever. Financially, without foreign money being invested in America (though foreigners are pulling back now), especially from China and Arab countries, we'd all be in the street. It's a bizarre, dangerous, stressful situation politically, economically, and socially. Of course WWIII looms, too. Russia, China, Japan, India, Pakistan, southeast Asia, the Arab countries, and most of Europe and Latin America would love to see America nuked off the map. Humans are such a crazy, neurotic, threatening, warmongering, destructive species that we should probably have a nuclear war every few decades to thin out the population and have peace for a while - though those of us who survived would have to get used to being radioactive and sick (!) Theory - humans were created as an experiment by another species, which was limited in science and wisdom, and the experiment is going increasingly bad. Overpopulation, pollution, global warming, decreasing oxygen, increasing carbon dioxide, melting icecaps, rising oceans, species extinctions, super viruses, etc. - crisis points are occurring. Let's make things clear to the rice riders. We buy and ride Harleys because we LIKE Harley history, tradition, style, soul, funk, culture, and lifestyle - and the fact that they're American motorcycles. Jap bike companies and bikes don't have soul, funk, and back street. A Jap bike can never be called a ride. SO WHAT if Jap bikes have better tech and engineering, as of now. SO WHAT if Jap bikes are faster, as of now? SO WHAT. You couldn't GIVE us a Jap bike. Also, keep in mind that the Japs were fanatical, vicious warmongers who attacked America. They were so crazy and militant, they even attacked China. Now they're buying up American companies and real estate, and cursing us behind our backs. Regarding motorcycles, they COPIED Harley ideas and designs - look at their cruisers. The Japs copied MANY American ideas and designs. Rice riders - stop wasting your time and energy bashing Harley and other American motorcycle companies. We don't care what you think or say. Stay away from us. Hey, psychotic, you're right on. I wrote about these concepts, too. I'd love to see Harley develop a 2,000-3,000cc high-tech, precision-built, liquid-and-air-coo led, 4 valves/cylinder, DOHC, high-compression, fuel-injected V-4 or V-8. It could put out 150-300HP and 150-300 lbs. of torque. Also, offer a lower compression model with a turbo option. THAT'S what we're talkin' about. (Feb 22, 2008 | post #4)
