2 Kings 18:27, " ...that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own piss with you?" (10 hrs ago | post #678098)
I am not assuming anything RR. God is alleged to be an eternal being that changes not. And if we are made in the image of God, and many plans are in a man's heart but it is the lord's purpose that prevails, then clearly if there was this God we'd all be in total agreement about it, what it wants and what we should be doing and instead of all this petty bickering we'd all be helping one another do the right thing. There is no God and human beings will not prefect themselves so the wars and the petty bickering will continue. What is up to you RR? Have you started packing for Hell yet, since you called me a fool. (10 hrs ago | post #678097)
The ears and eyes of God are in everyplace, how do you hide your tears from a being that is alleged to be everywhere? (10 hrs ago | post #678096)
Tell me if anyone has seen God's face and lived. John 1:18 "No man hath seen God at any time;..." Exodus 33:20, And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live. John 6:46 "Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father." 1 John 4:12 "No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us." Versus Gen. 32:30 "And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved." Exod. 33:11 "And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend." Num. 14:14 "...that thou LORD art seen face to face,..." Job 42:5 "I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee." Deut. 34:10 "And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face,..." Deut. 5:4 "The LORD talked with you face to face...." (10 hrs ago | post #678095)
You are trying to find a distinction where none exists. You know your God is really your Bible and that is all God is; a bunch of silly stories you do not understand. And you know there are 233 Bibles in English because I told you there are. (10 hrs ago | post #678094)
I imply nothing! I quote the Bible: Punishment of children is one thing; child abuse is another. And, unfortunately, many biblical verses can be easily used to justify the former by means of the latter: Prov. 23:13-14 ("Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell"), Prov. 22:15 RSV ("Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline drives it far from him"), Prov. 20:30 RSV ("Blows that wound cleanse away evil; strokes make clean the innermost parts"), Prov. 13:24 RSV ("He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is diligent to discipline him"), Prov. 19:19 ("Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying"), Prov. 29:15 ("Thy rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left to himself brings shame to his mother"), Prov. 26:3 ("A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ass, and a rod for the fool's back <children are often foolish>") , and Deut. 21:18-21 ("If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son, who will not obey the voice of his father or the voice of his mother, and, though they chastise him, will not give heed to them, then his father and his mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his city...and they shall say to the elders of his city, 'This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton and a drunkard. Then all the men of the city shall stone him to death with stones; so you shall purge the evil from the midst"). And, then, there are those verses which demean and degrade children by looking upon them as little more than beings to be punished for the misdeeds of others: Ex. 20:5 ("I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me"), Lev. 26:22 ("I will also send wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children...." ), Hosea 13:16 ("Samaria shall become desolate: for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword; their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up"), and Isa. 13:16-18 ("Their infants will be dashed in pieces before their eyes; their houses will be plundered and their wives ravished.... Their bows will slaughter the young men; they will have no mercy on the first of the womb; their eyes will not pity children"). (10 hrs ago | post #678093)
Whoa, hold on there Mr. Grumpy. I asked you for several things you have yet to deliver on. (10 hrs ago | post #678092)
Finally a Christian admits that God accepted Hitler just the way he was. (10 hrs ago | post #678090)
Nicely said and exactly right. How can there be a God when Christians kill each other for believing differently from each other about it? (10 hrs ago | post #678087)
Dave, if you have some evidence to support intelligent design please share it with us. (10 hrs ago | post #678086)
If there was a God, we'd all be in agreement about what it wanted and how we should behave. There would be no war. There would be no petty bickering; we'd all be helping one another do the right thing. Christians had to invent free will to explain why there is antisocial behaviour or what you call sin, and the 33,000 different, opposed to one another, Christian sects. But church inventions are just that, inventions having nothing to do with biblical teachings. Christians can not even get along with each other so how does that prove there is a God?
