Way to go ANDY

Sorry my mistake. I was taking the one vote from the pocket five the Mayor had and forgot to add it to the responsible four. I bad. There is a bright side after all.  (Apr 9, 2008 | post #14)

Congratulations councilman Podleski!!! You are an example to the people of Florissant what hard work and dedication can accomplish. You had a taste of Florissant politics when you ran for Mayor, now you are about to get the first hand look that everyone has been talking about. It's sad Greg didn't also win because the Mayor still holds the tie breaking vote. Good luck and keep a positive attitude. You have a lot of support behind you.  (Apr 9, 2008 | post #8)

Vote for Schmidt and Sullivan

The rank and file employee (classified employee) may not take part in the campaign but Department heads, appointed by the Mayor can take part. You can be sure amost if not all department heads are working the polls today.  (Apr 8, 2008 | post #32)

Vote for Schmidt and Sullivan

I spent 33 years working for the PEOPLE of Florissant. What have you done for Florissant besides possibly living there at some time? I, like many employees of the city, saw first hand a lot of issues that were never addressed by the administration. Speaking up for employment improvements was viewed with contempt and threats. As I said in my previous post - don't take my word or anyone's word without trying to obtain the FACTS.  (Apr 8, 2008 | post #24)

Vote for Schmidt and Sullivan

What in the hell are you smoking? It can't be legal. This election has nothing to do with hating anyone. It has to do with incompetance and lack of support for the people living in their wards and the lack of support for city employees. Dan seems like a nice guy but that is not the sole trait of a good council person. Neither Dan or Mark have supported the city employees in the past. Before you get on here spouting BS ask people who actually know what is taking place on the council and do some research. An uneducated voter is worse than the person who doesn't vote. Although I no longer live in the city I did for over 20 years and worked for the city for 33 years. I did, and do still like the city very much. There is nothing cowardly about my posts, I made it know who I was when I started posting. If you believe in your feelings, as I do, try posting with your name.  (Apr 8, 2008 | post #21)

Make a Difference

As I have posted before, I worked for the police department for 33 years before retiring, and I have seen the good and bad with Florissant politics. My only reason for my posting on topix is that I still have many friends working there. Although I can't vote in the upcoming election I want to send my support. For anyone not sure how they are voting in the Tuesday election I can tell you for a fact that Sullivan and Schmidt have never supported the men and women at the police department. If you support these officers PLEASE VOTE for Andy and Greg. I have personally met Andy and he does care about the officers and the city of Florissant. I have never personally met Greg but everyone I have talked to support him as well. The city government needs back, a system where there are checks and balances and no more rubber stamping without consideration for employees and the citizens of Florissant. The citizens in wards 6 and 8 have the opportunity to make a positive change for their wards and the entire city. Don't let this opportunity pass you by. While you still have time, talk to your friends, family, and neighbors. Don't wait for someone else to do it. Ask them to vote for Andy and Greg and tell them the reasons why. I wish Andy, Greg, and the entire city the best of luck in the coming election.  (Apr 7, 2008 | post #1)

Ward 8 Wish List

You have to remember Elliot Davis is, and has been a campaign contributor of the Mayor's for many years.  (Apr 5, 2008 | post #19)

Ford Plant

Thank you for supporting the police officers and city employees. You failed to inform the good citizens of Florissant that the personnel commission is a RUBBER STAMP for the Mayor. The Mayor makes the appointments to the commission.  (Apr 5, 2008 | post #18)

Who has your vote in Ward 6?

If the chief says Sullivan is a supporter of the officers he is again speaking for the Mayor or is greatly mistaken. He has NEVER supported the officers in the LAST THREE BUDGET WORK SHOPS. If the citizens of Florissant support their police officers there is NO WAY they can vote for Sullivan. SUPPORT YOUR FLORISSANT POLICE OFFICERS AND VOTE FOR ANDY !!!!!  (Apr 4, 2008 | post #156)

Who has your vote in Ward 6?

The Mayors "bodyguard " is a full time city employee and barred by ordinance from taking part in city politics.  (Apr 1, 2008 | post #88)

It's a shame politics have to get dirty but I guess that's the only thing SOME people know. The BEST compaign tool is word of mouth. Talk to your friends and get them out to vote. I wish Andy and Greg the best but they'll have their work cut out for them  (Apr 1, 2008 | post #83)

Who has your vote in Ward 6?

I lived in Florissant for 18 years and worked for the city for 33 years. I never thought it was a good idea for any city employees to get involved in city politics, be they full time, part-time, or department heads. You have to remember, if you back the wrong person for Mayor or city council with a sign in your yard and the wrong person wins, everyone knows who you supported. These people control your job security and future wages and benefits. If, as a city employee, you're approached by a current Mayor or city council person to put a sign in your yard, how can you say no? City employees should not have to be put in that situation. Why when asked, should part-time employees be pressured into putting signs in their yard by the current administration. How demeaning is it to see the Chief of police driving around in a pick-up truck with bill boards reading "vote for Lowery." I realize department heads are appointed by the Mayor but again I feel ALL city employees should be kept free of political preasure. Yes, city employees should have a right to support whom they wish but I feel the ramifications are too great in local elections.  (Apr 1, 2008 | post #80)

Who has your vote in Ward 6?

He my be a nice guy but has NEVER SUPPORTED THE POLICE OFFICERS. During the last budget workshop he sat with his eyes closed, arms folded, legs crossed with his shoes untied. He gave the impression the officers were wasting his time. If the officers could speak openly and without reprisals Andy would have their full support. Good luck Andy.  (Mar 30, 2008 | post #50)
