First of all, I'm not gay idiot. I'm a married mother of three. Secondly what would my sexuality have to do with what I said even if I were gay? You're typical of the kind of poster that I'm speaking of. You can't even put together a decent sentence so I'm not going to allow myself to be upset by your misspelled rantings and ignorance. Get a life, loser! Furthermore, sadly the white kids who are addicts just get into their parents medicine cabinets and get their fixes this way. They're also enabled and coddled by those who love them who bail them out of trouble, give them money for the drugs and keep them protected from life on the streets. This is the only thing that these kids have going for them, but in all honesty...is this the best thing for them? Ever watch an episode of intervention moron? I watch with my KIDS every week because I want them to know what's waiting for them out there if they don't follow and stay on the right path. Cultural differences aside, soon you will see that drug abuse is NOT just a black thing and it's beginning to get out of control in the suburbs too...it's just that up until now it has been a HUGE secret that parents, siblings and grandparents of these heroin addicted, oxycontin popping, meth heads have lived with in shame for a long time until it could no longer be concealed. Why must everyone who posts on this blog always act like whites don't commit crimes? Even in Akron...they do. I'm no fool, I know what I have and I am grateful for it. I have a great job and an education was required to get it. This and common sense is what keeps me here. Where do you work? You still don't use the spell check do you? Excuse me, but MORE of our tax dollars go to feed white families on welfare than black families. This is a fact that people tend to want to overlook. If I don't complain because I'm black and feed the poor whites, why do you complain because you're white and have to feed the poor blacks? Lol, you probably work for minimum wage anyway so suck it up like the rest of us. It's a part of living in America, like it or not--we take care of our own...of course, you can always move away :) Besides, with all of the tax dollars that this country is blowing on war and other things, I'd rather see my tax dollars going to ensure that no child goes hungry. The situation that a child is born into is never their fault. Of course the mother is to blame for having so many children but if more fathers, black AND white (I see both colors on the billboards) took care of their children instead of sitting here and talking down about the mothers of the children, there wouldn't be situations like this to blog about now would there? Bravo Katie! College changes the outlook that most people have on race relations. For the first time in the lives of many of the students that attend college, they are around people who are unlike them but they still have something in common--they want something better and most of them are intelligent! At some point you begin to realize that although you may be of different races and/or backgrounds that you may not really be all that different afterall. It makes a difference, I'm living proof of it. It prepares you to live life in the REAL world--the world where the people in your office may be black, white, brown, or yellow. If someone has never escaped a world where everyone looks like them, then I don't expect that individual to have much tolerance AT ALL for anyone who isn't like them and it shows especially in OHIO where there are so many racist and uneducated people. I should have known that the previous comment would come back to haunt me! What I meant and should have said is that maybe if we didn't have the injuries and the trade so late in the season, maybe everyone would have had more time to come together that we could have beaten Boston. The Cavs certainly deserved to be there! Yet people still refuse to give them the credit that they deserve for having gone up against the greatest teams in the NBA and making it very far in the playoffs for the last few years. There are some things that the Cavs have yet to figure out but like all good teams, I'm sure they will get it together. True fans will hang in there...I am! (Jun 9, 2008 | post #6)

I'm just raising them to be as "normal" as can be. They are still grounded in who they are and where they come from, they just know that my husband and I are no nonsense parents and that we expect them to be respectful and make something of themselves. So no, we're not really raising them like "white kids" because there are many black parents who are raising their kids this way, we're just doing what we think is best for them...I think when it comes to concerned parents--black or white, these sentiments are across the board. I think we're raising them like "right kids", yes...I think that's a better description, because they are kids not so much of color (black or white) but more kids of core values and common sense. :) (May 22, 2008 | post #217)
