Lake Chilika on the Barkul side !!!

Hi... Hello everybody, Last week our family did a short trip to Chilika Lake. This is going to be short description of the trip. We were going from Cuttack and went to Barkul and Rambha the two nodes of tourism in Chilika. The third node for Chilika visits is from Satpada, which is some 20 km from Puri (thats in another direction). Satpada is the place if you want take boats to go see Irrawaddy dolphins, and see the mouth of Chilika. Barkul and Rambha are the nodal points if you want to go to Kalijai temple (on an island - fairly famous in Oriya culture because of associated myths and important pilgrimage for the people in the surrounding areas), and to go the migratory bird nesting islands, and lots of other small dotted islands. Business Hotels in Bhubaneswar???

Hello, There are a number of excellent luxurious hotels in far more interesting areas of the Bhubaneswar city, just a quick cab ride from your convention. I would seriously consider TheCrown Hotel deal you have outlined - it is an excellent property with spectacular service located in the heart of the temple city. I think perhaps of staying 4 nights at Hotel TheCrown, Bhubaneswar when attending the conference, and perhaps 3 nights at Puri Beach Hotels, when staying for sightseeing. Both Hotels would therefore be booked through the online - both hotels are considered to be city's best preferred hotels. While in India: Tales of Travel and Life

Hi folks, In 1980 at the age of 25, I left my job and country and set off on a journey with vague plans and no real time limit. Some months later I flew into Kolkata and immediately fell in love with India. Thirty years later I had the pleasure of spending over a year working in India as an Organization Development Advisor and, with a fair amount of spare time on my hands took to writing short stories about my Indian experiences, then and in the past. These stories are a collation of that writing experiment. I can claim that 99% of their content is absolutely true to what occurred along the way, with some flight to creative imagination in a few stories to gain effect and emphasis. A couple are written from another’s point of view gleaned from either my assumptions of their experience with me or (in the case of ‘India Remembered’) the use of the notes of a friend. The stories are arranged in chronological order according to the context of the event, however they were all written between July 2010 and April 2011 whilst living in Bhubaneswar, Orissa. thanks, Reid Wilson  (Oct 21, 2011 | post #1)

Hotel The Crown of Bhubaneswar, India

Hello folks, Haven't stayed at The Crown ( but heard from many sources. It's in a nice location just across the bridge from the village with good views of the surrounding temples. Suggest you ask to see the room and then decide. There are a couple of cheap hotels in the main street leading to so many temples but they are pretty basic, if not downright depressing. We spent a night in one of them, then moved to a friends Bungalow which although a bit basic also, has the neccessary amenties and a great location. Thanks, Reid Wilson  (Oct 14, 2011 | post #1)
