IN Property Tax Cap Amendment, Public Question 1

Unbelievable idiots. Taxes are how societies function. Without taxes you have no government, and without government you have anarchy. People will cry about the lack of police and good schools, and bad roads and crumbling infrastructure, but try to raise the money to pay for all of that, and they bitch about it and throw people out of government that try to fix these things. These people must think there is a magical fix-it fairy that goes around fixing public things without the need for public financing. WHY?? Why would you want to limit something like taxes that might need to be raised in the future? Are you people that myopic and selfish? And these same people whine about helping poor people that they say are living beyond their means, and yet they aren't willing to sacrifice for the betterment of what in the end, is themselves, because they love their precious money. Ask people in Europe that have clean streets, sound infrastructure and free medical care about how they feel about paying taxes. I've talked to many over the Internet, and while they don't say it's perfect, most can't imagine a better life, and yet we piss and moan at the slightest mention of taxes. Mark these words, you're going to face the consequences of these idiotic amendments when the government that you depend on is broke. GOD I live in a stupid damn country!  (Nov 2, 2010 | post #209)

"The Call to Conscience" Funny, I was thinking a better name would be "A Day to Celebrate Bigotry, Hate, and Fear".  (Sep 21, 2010 | post #997)

From a christian view, are we animals?

Hello, dear, and thanks. I was always fond of you. I've never had a problem with folks like you, but only those that would condone the damage of others for the sake of their own ideology. I hope you are doing well too. :~)  (Sep 7, 2010 | post #246)

I will only ask this: why, why must you do this? We are alone on this pale blue dot in the void and blackness of space. All we have is each other. Please, I beg you to please consider your fellow creatures that feel persecuted by acts like this. My brother is gay, and I can assure you from the depths of my being that he was born gay, as sure as you were born heterosexual. Please consider the harm you are doing to those that are in many instances already dealing with the rejection of their families. If you truly believe in a loving god that will not punish you for loving those that suffer for who they are, and often take their own lives because of the rejection and isolation, you will love them instead of only making their lives even more difficult. Please, please look to your humanity for what is right. Surely your god will forgive you for this.  (Sep 7, 2010 | post #526)

Now I remember why i stopped posting on this forum. I see the religious nutters haven't got any smarter since the last time I posted. I can't believe some of my compatriots are still arguing with these poor misguided ignoramuses. I wish I had that kind of patience.  (Sep 7, 2010 | post #228)

Really? Then why are you trying to escape that responsibilty for what you do? What part of letting someone else be tortured and murdered on your behalf sounds good to youReally? Seriously? I'm not forced to believe? Really?? What's my door prize for not believing in your loving god and his demented plan? Hey Kensey, I have a bazooka pointed right between your eyes. Now, you don't have to do what I say, but there will be a problem if you don't. That's some free will I've given you, isn't itEmpty threats and tautologies are less than meaningless to me. What I believe will in fact change the outcome of something, if I can provide evidence to back it up. Can you back up your statement, or do you just assume that everyone is frightened by the same things you are, and no one will call you on itI get it, your god can do whatever it wants, when it wants, how it wants, and why it wants. Good and evil, right and wrong, they are what your god says they are at any given moment. If your god slaughters an entire world of people, then it must be good, right? It's all subjective and arbitrary. What's moral about that? What would you think of a father that told his son not to do something because it's wrong, and then did the very same thing? Of course you must believe this to justify in your mind the cruelties of the Old Testament, and why life seems so random and often cruel -- not to mention your own prejudices. But concomitant with that is what I said above that. Life is utterly meaningless if your god can take it away at a whim and/or change the rules. The lack of evidence for the existence of your god, and the nonsensical and illogical things that you must dance around to believe in such a creature, is more than enough to convince me that it doesn't exist. However, even if it was somehow real, why the fuck would I want to worship such a capricious and cruel being? Your infantile nonsense only goes to show how far humans will go to convince themselves that they can escape death. Their morals go out the door, and they will justify anything when they are facing the reality of the end of their existence.  (Oct 4, 2009 | post #90)

I wouldn't; I would stop it. And then I'd tell him "No thanks, I'm a full grown MAN, I don't need some crazy dude with a messiah complex being tortured and murdered so that I can avoid answering for my "sin." If I have something to answer for, I'll take responsibility for it, like a man is supposed to do." Because you know, I'm a man. Not a sniveling little mouse afraid of it's own shadow that's trying to avoid death. But you would. Otherwise, according to your beliefs, you would go to hell. You would probably tell yourself that you were doing something holy to justify murdering someone on your behalf.  (Oct 1, 2009 | post #78)

Is God Cruel?

Pain isn't an emotion. It's a debilitating condition that makes many people wish they were dead, and in fact makes many people choose death because of it. How do you figure that starving children in Africa are at fault for their pain? How do you figure that little children deserve to get leukemia, you stupid, stupid child? How do you figure that people are responsible for being born with debilitating pain, you fucking twerp? And how do you figure that you have the capacity to reason with adults? Stick to your pie-in-the-sky Sunday School fairy tales, and leave the adult discussions to the adults.  (Sep 27, 2009 | post #98)

He's insane, Nettie, you shouldn't expect him to make any sense. I'm sure in his deluded mind everything is as it should be.  (Sep 27, 2009 | post #96)
