Trail in Francis Mine

Well how many of you have been nearly run off the road by the large trucks flying through Francis Mine? Need an alignment again for having to drive off the 6 inch drop off on the black top?  (Apr 22, 2013 | post #16)

Who do you support for Governor in Pennsylvania in 2010?

The bottom line is, this is your money, you paid into it (your pension)and this guy says it's too much and I'm going to take it? If it's too much then why take the 6-8% out of our pay. Why enroll anyone in this program. Why have a union? Who's it protecting or working for? Why pay dues and watch them line the pockets of politicians. All I'm saying is I'm working and paying into my retirement and it should be there!  (Mar 27, 2013 | post #48651)

I'm so sick of how poor people think FM is. Yes there are some old houses up here but keep in mind, these are the original 99+ year old original mining homes that this town was built on. Renevations are expensive and there are many elderly folks up here that can't do the work and are on a fixed income and can't afford to hire out. But hey, if your so danged worried about it, drag your butt up here and offer to help. The Lillards and the Browns and a few other people have been trying to buy up these run down houses and either fix them up or tear them down. This is no easy task. No one is rich up here as you so love to point out. LET THIS BE UNDERSTOOD. This area is in the shape it's in because good people give up hope. In the summer our kids are at risk of being run down by speeding semis who fly down this road, carrying supplies not meant to fix our roads. In winter we're lucky to get salt on one side of the road and forget it if you live on Colony RD. If it wasn't for the school bus route, we'd never see a plow. Now is that because "we're the armpit of society?" or the township forces that assumption and you are ever so brilliant to nod your empty head.  (Mar 26, 2013 | post #10)

Tax us to death? No he's just stealing my pension and every other PSEA member in Pennsylvania. Maybe he needs to dip into his own pocket and stay the heck out of mine. Every two faced politician rides the "education first" train then when in office, we're the first to get cuts. We've taken pay freezes to help keep good people employed and he's doing everything he can to cut funding and ultimately, jobs. These are teachers and custodians who earn a meager, modest wage and to try to steal the hard earned money that they've payed into all these years is a true crime. Let's not forget there is a law protecting your pension that "Good ole Tom" seems content to sweep under his rug right in front of all your faces.  (Mar 26, 2013 | post #48641)
