If you're only looking in West Tennessee, time to move. Dead area.  (Sep 1, 2013 | post #19)

CITY & COUNTY Property Tax

Guardian's right. Franklin/Williamson Co is absolutely high-dollar. Even little Nolensville's a hotbed for real estate right now.  (Sep 1, 2013 | post #23)

And your union stance has worked wonderfully for Detroit, and in more local spots, Spring Hill TN who went years without jobs.  (Sep 1, 2013 | post #70)

From what I know of Mary, she hasn't exactly lived an easy life. It's easy to point fingers and act jealous of the Pill Hill lifestyle her parents have provided, but I know there's been some deep down troubling stuff there as well. You'll generally discover that the front you see is insecurity hiding something deeper. Ease up.  (Aug 25, 2013 | post #6)

How's he eating twinkies if they were off the shelf for so long? Wait, knowing the shelf life of a Twinkie, don't answer that.... probably bought 'em off eBay.  (Aug 25, 2013 | post #21)

Here's the problem, management could fire every single one of them and replace the workers with people out of a job. Some other high school part-timer or community college student needing extra cash, or GED graduate will waltz right in and take the job. You can't "walk off" a job that's not a skilled position, Tennessee's a "fire at will" state, and these workers aren't unionized. Good luck with that. Also, if minimum wage keeps going up, when do the rest of us earning a living get a raise? No? Not happening? huh...  (Aug 25, 2013 | post #62)

CITY & COUNTY Property Tax

Believe it or not, Dyersburg City Schools is one of the highest paying school districts in Tennessee, which is how they're able to keep teachers and attract them from other schools in the area. There's one explanation on where your money's going. Like the roads you drive on around town? Especially the ones that have been resurfaced or expanded the past few years? There's another. Police, Fire, the water you drink, the water that carries your disease-ridden poop out of your house, all loops back to tax money. Meth labs in town, someone's gotta pay for those to get cleaned up.. yep, tax money. It's not just a few commissioners sitting at the courthouse getting paid fat stacks (did you know, alderman and other civil servants get little to nothing for doing that job? Even in Nashville a councilperson gets a whopping $14k for doing the job.) So, before the "Woe is me" tax paying whining that everyone loves to do.. take into account things you take for granted and never assess who or how those things are paid for. The cost of living in Dyer County (and even Dyersburg) is dirt cheap.. there's nothing to complain about at all.  (Aug 25, 2013 | post #19)

What blows me away reading all of this, is that it seems some of you have never been to a Cracker Barrel before. And if that's the case, get the hell out of Northwest Tennessee once in a while. The absolute stupidity on these boards baffles me beyond comprehension.  (Aug 25, 2013 | post #58)
