He doesn't need a license to push a cart of ice cream in Evanston It's hard work to walk all day long and sell overpriced ice cream.  (Thursday Jul 3 | post #4)

Despite move, woman stuck with ticket over city sticker

If you are visiting the city, you do not need a city sticker. However, if you park in a neighborhood with permit parking, you will get a ticket no matter where you live. The lady should have taken the expired sticker out of her windshield. Is the car still registered in Chicago? If so...your fault. Most of the cities and towns use vehicle stickers not the counties.  (Tuesday Jul 1 | post #26)

Pedestrian: remove expired vehicle stickers, please

Because they don't just peel off. It takes awhile to get the whole thing off and when you do then you have to clean the glass because the sticky residue is left behind.  (Tuesday Jul 1 | post #1)

Safety courses for scooter riders

In Illinois, if you want to ride a scooter larger then 50cc you must take classes and upgrade your license to an M. 49cc scooters are just right for the city. They go no more then 30 for heavier riders and 35 for lightweights. They usually are 1 passenger automatic and perfect for the inner city.  (Tuesday Jul 1 | post #1)

New vaccines reduce the ouches for kids

either vaccinate your kids or go through a horrible disease like the measles or mumps. Whooping cough another one. Keep the vaccines to a minimum...chicken pox is a mild childhood disease... no vaccine needed. Hepatitis Vaccine? only of the child is going overseas, otherwise not needed.  (Friday Jun 27 | post #8)

Teens' responses show profound lack of respect

LW1...the girl should have walked away after her apology for hitting the boys eye. That would have been the end of it. Then the name calling would have never happened. LW2....the neighbor was wrong to confront like that but if a gift receipt wasn't included what other avenue did she have? I bet it was all misinterpreted wrong. Once a gift is passed on, there should be no strings attached anyway.  (Friday Jun 27 | post #70)

House to rise in 7 days

Way to go H2H and Willowcreek. Totally unrealistic to have a safe room in every house. I wouldn't call this a death trap either. The percentage of tornados is very low compared to other Midwest states.  (Friday Jun 27 | post #2)

Tolerate weeds

Don't use chemicals....pull them yourself. Why spend money for a company to put chemicals on your lawn when it's so much cheaper to do it yourself?  (Thursday Jun 26 | post #3)

Chicago schools make gains in hiring better grade of teachers

my daughter graduated with an MAT degree from National Louis University and received her Illinois certification and can't find a job in the CPS system. No one wants young teachers....and she wants to teach in the CPS system because she believes in it.  (Thursday Jun 26 | post #12)

Third husband is no charmer when he puts down his wife

Seven years to stay married to an abuser. Yes, that's what he is an abuser. Verbal abuse is quite damaging and should not be tolerated. AS for the youthful corporate worker, grow up,..."The Man" is your boss, and no matter what, he deserves respect. Show respect and then maybe he will in turn show you respect. As for the single lady who likes to party, ignore the insults and party to your hearts content.  (Thursday Jun 26 | post #15)

too bad the editors don't delete non issues like the silly cat and dog diary that has nothing to do with the issues at hand. These people need to get a life!  (Thursday Jun 26 | post #27)

Fox River currents capsize boat near McHenry

This accident happened before the official closing of the Chain O'Lakes and boat traffic on the Fox River. The guy was an experienced fisherman. He just didn't heed the advice of those on shore. Hislife jacket was jst around his neck....it wasn't the jacket kind, it was the orange that goes over your head and if it isn't strapped it won't help you.  (Tuesday Jun 17 | post #19)
