Facts about the Santa Fe bond

There is much more than cleaning and painting needed. The structure has been poorly remodeled by God knows whom. Maintenance has been neglected. The city fathers are not interested in anything but a new building. All those in the decision making process are of one mind. George Orwell was right but a little ahead of his time. Can you say "groupthink "? Bob  (May 14, 2012 | post #21)

25% Tax Increase to Build the New SF Police Department

Now that he (Stenzel) has gone down in flames for the third time we need to get together to formulate a viable solution to the problem. The numbers changed to 45-55 after the early voting numbers were added. Questions: 1. Who was to profit from the proposed structure? 2. What are the alternatives? 3. Can a facilities upgrade be accomplished from current revenue without a tax increase? 4. When the new firehouse is complete can we remodel the old firehouse to become Po-Po station. It has been done before. Thanks to all who participated in this debacle's defeat....especial ly the Saturday voters who put us well over the top. Bob  (May 14, 2012 | post #6)

25% Tax Increase to Build the New SF Police Department

Early indications are that the bond lost 41-59. Thank you Santa Fe for a fine turnout. Let's continue to keep "groupthink " in check.  (May 12, 2012 | post #4)

Facts about the Santa Fe bond

I toured the PD the other day. I saw a gross lack of maintenance, poorly executed remodeling, and inadequacy for the size of the department. By rescinding the "brickface " rule, eliminating the fluff, and reducing the size of the building to a reasonable footprint a new facility can be built for less than a million.  (May 1, 2012 | post #11)

Facts about the Santa Fe bond

Between the lines facts: $200/square foot - 3 times going rate $500,000 consulting fees - To whom? $500,000 set aside for cost overruns - What value is the consultant? $124,000 moving expenses - Really? Who's the mover? 25% tax increase. 40 year term Undefined interest rate. This bond was hastily written the day of the deadline to get it on the ballot. The wording is so vague that it amounts to a blank check to spend as the council pleases and to borrow for the next 40 years.  (Apr 30, 2012 | post #4)

stenzel needs to go

Stenzel is addicted to OPM as is the rest of the council. (Other People's Money) The $6,000,000 bond would require a 25% tax increase or a drastic cut in city budget. Is this a back door effort to reduce the size of the police force? Building a hay barn the size of the Astrodome will not make the grass grow.  (Apr 30, 2012 | post #5)
