See, that is exactly where you and I disagree. You seem to think that because you believe the documents have "nothing of real significance" , I see it differently. The facts were not changed by Mr. Harris' visit to the Secretary. Only the punishment was changed. You don't believe that the Board should take separate action on his application for employment, because you feel he should still be the superintendent. We see it as, if he has been proven to have lied, he needs to go so that we can get someone in the position who will be honest. (4 hrs ago | post #477)
Page 1, paragraph 2 of the original Decision and Order "I, the Secretary, hereby adopt as my own and in its entirety, the Proposed Findings of Fact and Conclusions of Law..." Findings of Fact: Number 28. Mr. Harris lied in answering Question No. 4 in the Character and Fitness portion of his application for New Mexico licensure. Amended Decision and Order: 6. All other provisions in the Decision and Order dated November 13, 2009 shall remain in force. With all of your legal knowledge, I would assume that plain English may not be complicated enough for you - but for the rest of us.... The Secretary only changed the PUNISHMENT - not the decision. Of course you will hang your hat thing outside of the FACTS of this case. Mr. Harris lied on his application for licensure with the State. Mr. Harris lied on his application for employment. Dr. Garcia has found that he DID lie, and revoked his licenses for 10 days, she subsequently suspended his licenses for 90 days. The Board of Education has taken NO ACTION on the fact that he has lied on the employment application for APS. These, my friend, are the facts. (11 hrs ago | post #469)

I couldn't agree with you more. This is a tragic situation and should not have been publicized like this. These types of articles are the exact reason why so many young girls do not report abuse. It's hard enough to tell your family what happened to you - but to have it all over town is horrific. (Saturday | post #16)

You are not the only woman to ever be victimized by a man. I understand that it takes courage to speak out, but I think your post would be better served in the community that he lives in NOW - not the one he left. You know nothing about me, so please don't assume that you do. My commentary was based only on the fact that you have posted this in the New Mexico threads and he is gone. You have successfully ran him out of this state and thereby protected the women in New Mexico. Please take my comments as only a suggestion that you warn the right people. If you were truly trying to help others, you should consider doing so without naming names. You can still tell the story of your personal hell without making it seem like a personal vendetta. Please do not e-mail me again. You know nothing about me; nor what I have been through. But I can tell you this: I use my story to actually help others, not to push a personal vendetta against one specific individual. You can spin this any way that you want. The Secretary of Education DID NOT dismiss the Decision and Order - she only changed the punishment. And I quote: 6. All other provisions in the Decision and Order dated November 13, 2009 shall remain in force. Number 17 of the Order dated 13 Nov. "...I hereby DECIDE and ORDER - that good and just cause have been established by a preponderance of the evidence to warrant suspension or revocation of Respondent's licensure," Once again, she only changed it from revocation to suspension - BUT HE IS STILL GUILTY Since he has been found guilty of lying on the PED application and has been reprimanded, I ask you this - what will the school board do with the fact that he also lied on his application here? I don't care what he personally told them - for all I know he could have told them that his hair was spun of gold. The truth was NOT put in his job application for Superintendent of APS and therefore he also LIED to the district. (Saturday | post #447)
Sorry, I did not catch it the first go-around. Thanks for the clarification. I was at the Nate Cote meeting earlier this week and the city council member that was there talked to Mr. Cote about the lame excuses the state is giving them regarding the liquor licenses. He stated that the community would like to have another grocery store and maybe a "Red Lobster" or "Olive Garden" but that these businesses will not open here without a liquor license. He further stated that the State told him that it's because of Alamogordo's DWI rate for population size. I asked him after the meeting to find out how many DUI's there are on 70 coming back from Cruces, which is where we have to go for these other chain restaurants. I think the state is just being mean - (silly foot stomping inserted here) - I want an Olive Garden!!!! (Saturday | post #13)
unfortunately none of this is over, period. The facts haven't changed. Mr. Harris was found to have LIED on his application to the state AND this district. Now it's in the hands of the board members' to require Mr. Harris to answer for his lies here. Let's see if they require this, or if they just want to pretend it didn't happen and continue to allow him to run this district into the ground. (Saturday | post #442)
