American plans deep cuts at O'Hare
Again, oil was below $60/barrel when the Dems took over. Drilling, tax incentives, etc. are set by the Congress. In case you didn't know, congress is the one that initiates the laws, not the president. THEY could have worked to expand local supply. Didn't the democrats block local drill a decade ago, saying it would take 10yrs for something to come of it. Well, we could sure use some of that friendly crude now. Funny thing is, they are still saying the same thing - it will take 8-10yrs. Well, what will they say in teh next decade. I am not saying the republicans are saints in the matter, far from it, but the president doesn't make the laws and the Dems have had control as oil has skyrocketed from $60 to over $130. American plans deep cuts at O'Hare
The only problem I have with the ORD expansion is that Chicago is TAKING from the surrounding suburbs for the expansion, but is not willing to share in the increased revenues. Surrounding burbs are loosing out on tax generating industrial properties - who is going to compensate them in the long run? Who is going to help pay for their schools and services. I agree with the expansion of O'Hare, but take it away from Chicago and share the revenues with the communities that are impacted by the airport. As a side not, it is interesting that Daley would NOT take homes and such (in Chicago) to expand Midway for safety reasons, but is more than willing to take from the burbs to enrich his pocketbook. Wife still in love, but husband's health issues have hurt sex life
The strange thing is, these columns always seem to blame the man. When the columns were the other way (wife no longer wanting/able to have sex), the man was told to deal with it and to be more understanding of his wife. In this case, since it is the woman that is "suffering ", it is ok to have an affair. All I can ask is that people at least be consistent in their views, all Cheryl is consistent with is that everything is the man's problem and women can get a pass for any behavior they want. So much for "equality ". (Jun 23, 2008 | post #18)
Questioning 'conservative values'
That CANNOT be true - everything was peaches and cream. The USS Cole wasn't attacked, the WTC wasn't bombed for the 1st time, the barracks in Saudi weren't attacked...everyth ing was just great. The Dems have controlled congress for over a year, and boy have they done a lot. They spouted their message to get elected and their sheep followed suit, but once in power, they could not do what they promised. The KNEW they could not do it, but played politics to get control, just as they are playing politics now vs. trying to solve some of these financial problems. Paying extra money to farmers and farm corps during sky high food prices was CERTAINLY a good Democrat idea. Hate to break it to you delusional Dems, but they are just as corrupt as the Republicans. Look what they have done in Illinois since they have had complete control. Good job, no? All politicians are bought and paid for.... (Jun 17, 2008 | post #44)
Congressman Kirk urges reform in Washington
Typical liberal, its not my fault, you should support me response..... If 5 months was a good enough requirement during the Clinton administration to receive extended benefits, it is good enough now. The person who only worked two weeks would still have SIX months of unemployment benefits to find another job. You liberals are upset that someone must drag their butt out and work for 2 weeks ever six months to get a handout, which is what it is if a person only worked a couple of weeks. A different story if someone has worked for years and is now having trouble finding a job, but support the folks that have earned it. (Jun 17, 2008 | post #2)
Family of cyclist sues drivers in fatal crash
The family is in pain and they are suing everyone. It is not right, but it is what is happening. (Jun 17, 2008 | post #30)
Whispers get loud around Michelle Obama
The real difference would be if McCain's wife is out in the spotlight like Michelle, or if she stays secluded. Has McCains wife said horid things about America, or are you just jealous because she is wealthy? (Jun 12, 2008 | post #274)
Poverty gets the blame, not racism
I am pretty sure the OP was referring to Byrd and his prior KKK membership. The issue is, no amount of appologies would have been adequate if the person was a Republican. It is a true double standard used of the media and the Democrats in general. What President Bill Clinton did was completely acceptable to NOW and the Democrats, as is what Byrd did in the past as well, whereas Lott makes one comment and Strom Thurman's (sp?) birthday, just to make ST feel good, and the Dems and the media were after his head. He appologized for any misunderstanding, and clarified what he meant, but that did not matter. Republicans do the same thing with pork-barrel spending, blasting the Dem's, but doing the same thing themselves. The only difference is, they don't have the media support behind them. Poverty gets the blame, not racism
Using raw numbers like you are trying to do is altering reality. While whites may make up a greater number of persons on welfare, as a PERCENTAGE of the white people paying into the system, they are a much smaller group. (Jun 5, 2008 | post #191)
Poverty gets the blame, not racism
While the welfare to work requires some effort to be made to work, not actual work being done. In addition, as previously stated, the money is not repaid. In the case of student loans, those MUST be repaid and cannot even be discharged in bancruptcy. As for the subprime loans, those were initially made to get the regulators off their backs due to "redlining " and not offering enough loans to minorities. (Jun 5, 2008 | post #190)

Don't go putting out statistics that go against what the liberal media has been spoon feeding the sheep. They are suffering, even thought things have gotten WORSE since the DEMs took over congress. I guess it is the Presidents fault since he initiates all spending bills and such...oh wait, he doesn't. The DEMOCRATIC house does. They sure have been busy _helping_ all of us....especially that porked up farm bill. They could not just help the people with food stamps and such, they had to give all the handouts to the rich farmers and farming corps. You know those corn farmers aren't making enough with ethanol driving prices through the roof...Pork brought straight to you by the Democrat party. (Jun 5, 2008 | post #188)
Poverty gets the blame, not racism
The act was only passed because of the GREAT support of the Republicans in Congress. They supported the act in much greater numbers than the Dems and without them, the Southern DEMOCRATS would have stalled/killed it. They already had it bottled up in committee and it would never have gone to the floor without the great support of the Republican party. Know a bit about the history before you blather on so.... The lock-step following of the Democrat party is the reason that blacks are not approached. If the sheep will never leave the flock. The Dems know that they will ALWAYS get 90%+ of the black vote, so they don't have to campaign too hard or do much for them. Kind of like businesses giving their best deals to new customers, not the ones that have stayed with them through the years. (Jun 5, 2008 | post #186)
