Good things not happening in the next 4 years of Trump is not what worries me. What does is the bad things that WILL happen.  (Wednesday Dec 7 | post #284)

And their Furher hasn't even been elevated to power yet! If this is any indication of what is going to be happening, with no word from him to stop, I can only imagine what the next 4 years will be like. Shades of 1930's Germany.  (Tuesday Nov 29 | post #2)

Trump Supporter Shouting 'Straight White Men Rule' Attack...

The trend of non-white births is up and the trend of white births is down. These births are to mothers already in the U.S. The babies are citizens. Trying to turn the tide at this point is like bailing water back into the ocean with a bucket. Non-white births already exceed white births. Seems the whites in this country just don't want to have kids in the numbers they used to. I wish I could be around in 2043 or thereabouts in order to tell you "told you so", but I will be gone by that time. If you are still here, and retain any mental faculties, I hope you remember you were told.  (Tuesday Nov 29 | post #9)

You appear to be an example of the following quote, "Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it." The quote is most likely due to George Santayana, and in its original form it read, 'Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.' The phrasing itself certainly is catchy. Trump Supporter Shouting 'Straight White Men Rule' Attack...

That statement about "white men rule" may seem the case at the moment. However, in the not too distant future the white race in the U.S. will be a minority. The minorities of today will be in the majority about 2043 according to official statistics. The "white men" who are supposedly in power at the moment should give a tremendous amount of thought to how they treat the minorities of today. Those "white men" may not be alive in 2043, but their children and grandchildren probably will be, and they will be the ones who must face whatever backlash there may be. Hopefully, the majority will be kinder to the minorities when that time comes, after having learned from the mistakes of the white man. Only time will tell.  (Tuesday Nov 29 | post #2)

My father taught me two very important rules about investing in the stock market. 1. When we have a Democrat in power, be fully invested. 2. When we have Republican in power, pull back on investments, and be in cash as much as possible. This is mostly based on the stock market averages over the time of Hoover to present. When democrats are in power the market usually goes up. When republicans are in power, it usually goes down. I have an Excel worksheet that proves this has been the rule of thumb over that time period. Under Obama, my wealth has increased 124% ( I won't know the exact figure til later in January). Oh yeah, one other suggestion (rather than a rule)......keep your investments shielded from taxes. A good place for that is a Roth IRA and/or muni funds. There are other ways, but usually more complicated.  (Monday Nov 28 | post #254)

You are giving it one last chance, huh? And what is the "or else" that is implied in you statement. What exactly will you do if it doesn't live up to your expectations?  (Wednesday Nov 23 | post #152)

During the Obama administration I let my portfolio sit, and I did nothing. It went up 124%. I truthfully cannot imagine Trump presiding over anything coming close to that. In fact, I expect it to go down. That is the history (at least since Hoover) that I have found during my research. Democrats preside over an expansion in the Market, and Republicans preside over a decline. If you don't believe me, all you have to do is look at the market figures from one Inauguration date to another. And I am referring to a totality of the years, not just individual administrations.  (Wednesday Nov 23 | post #1)

Mediocre??? All I had to do was sit and do nothing with my portfolio, and it went up 124% during the Obama Presidency. I wouldn't call that mediocre. Oh yeah, and by the way, I actually paid less taxes, since my entire portfolio is sheltered.  (Wednesday Nov 23 | post #142)
