In the 70's and 80's when the World Wrestling Federation was still a regional East Coast promotion a lot of guys would rent homes here for reasons of convenience. They worked the East Coast corridor mainly NY, NJ, Philly, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Boston, and all the small cities in the region. The TV tapings were done in Allentown at Agricultural Hall and the Fieldhouse in Hamburg Pa. It was easy for the boys to make 2-3 hrs treks and then drive home. The shows out in Pittsburgh and up in New England may have required lodging or the need to fly but mostly they were able to drive home each night. When Vince Mcmahon went national Afa Anoia, Salvatore Bellomo, and Rocky Johnson were at the end of their runs and they decided to stay in the area. (19 hrs ago | post #21)

Afa Anoia relocated and settled in the Lehigh Valley in the 1980's. He retired and opened up his wrestling school at Jordan Lanes in the late 80's-early 90's. Later on he moved the school to the Hamilton Parkway area near the Allentown Bust terminal. I think it is still there. Afa has trained many wrestlers but 2 from this area who have gone on to National acclaim include Billy Kidman from Allentown and Gene Snitsky from the Pocono region. Sika did not settle in this area. He is in Florida but of course will visit Afa and family on a fairly regular basis. (19 hrs ago | post #14)
