Yeah, that's the ticket! Sterilize them. Then they won't be able to produce any more like them. Because we all know that is how it is done.  (Dec 13, 2013 | post #48)

Read the decision. Then get back to us about how his "vested interest" shows (hint: it does not). Many persons are perfectly capable of examining an issue and coming to a well-reasoned conclusion, regardless of their own personal interest. Judges in particular need this ability. There, I just saved you from having to read hundreds of pages. You're welcome.  (Dec 12, 2013 | post #40)

What a shame. Equality advocates in Australia should make use of the Proposition 8 trial decision from California, which was ultimately upheld by the US Supreme Court over the objections and legal wranglings of anti-gay (i.e. religious) groups. There are many parallels, and Judge Walker's decision was very well-written and even inspiring.  (Dec 11, 2013 | post #1)

Group that led charge against gay marriage changes tack.

Funny (or sad) how the word "family" has morphed into a kind of dog whistle meaning "anti-gay. "  (Nov 22, 2013 | post #2)

Pa. pastor unrepentant over son's gay wedding

Ha, good reply! But isn't it reassuring to know that we have people like Cordwainer to tell us exactly what god thinks? Otherwise, how would we know the mind of this invisible imaginary being?  (Nov 19, 2013 | post #14)

Hawaii House Hears From Public on Gay Marriage

Based on the experience of the state senate here in Delaware, they listened to the crackpots, then all voted as they had originally decided. Not one senator changed their mind.  (Nov 4, 2013 | post #38)

I agree. He should run for president. That would show even more people how absurd and outright crazy these christianists are.  (Nov 1, 2013 | post #7)

Hawaii House Hears From Public on Gay Marriage

I listened to the same things when marriage equality was before the Delaware legislature, thankfully it was not a free for all for anyone who wanted to chime in (it lasted about 2 hours). I cannot imagine how 4000+ different people can have that many different thoughts to share. And although it passed, it was painful to listen to the outright bigotry being spouted by those who were against the proposal. And the one state senator who was leading the charge against the bill, recognizing that the votes were not on his side, proposed postponing the vote - a proposal which was defeated by the same senators (majority)who subsequently voted for marriage equality.  (Nov 1, 2013 | post #5)

Conservative Radio Host Fights With Gay Caller

Here's the rub. Per Bryan, "...if an individual doesn’t have a legitimate way to satisfy their sexual impulses then the path God designed for them is the path of abstinence, and chastity and celibacy." So who decides what is a "legitimate way"? Is it you, Bryan? Is it a nomadic desert tribe from 2000-plus years ago, whose "legitimate ways" included a requirement that rape victims had to marry their rapists? Whose kings had hundreds of both wives and concubines? Neither Bryan Fischer nor an ancient tribe can claim to be the arbiters of what is legitimate.  (Oct 29, 2013 | post #4)

Out of the closet - the new martyrs

Victim envy" - love it! I can't help but wonder how many of the poor, victimized christianists have a fantasy life that revolves around being tortured for jeebus. Frankly (shamefully) it was one of my deepest fantasies as a youngster (and Christian), so I can't help but think it's probably common to other people, too. Unfortunately for them, the refusal to sell a cake, or being charged with a civil rights violation, just doesn't have the resonance of the actual torture that many have heaped upon gays in the past. And now, I've recently read that the actual, physical persecution of Christians (e.g. eaten by lions in the Coliseum) may have been made up, too!  (Jul 16, 2013 | post #9)

Gotta hand it to Mr. Shrimsley - an English version of a scolding to those who are now claiming persecution for being anti-gay. He gave me some smiles.  (Jul 16, 2013 | post #6)

Mugabe says no to whites, gays

Homophobia in Africa was an import from the Europeans (look it up). Unfortunately, this particular tenet of the "christian " west still holds sway. So Mugabe can rant and rave all he wants against gays - all he is doing is reinforcing the lessons the "white masters" taught his people a few hundred years ago.  (Jul 14, 2013 | post #7)

Larry, perhaps you'd like to share your vast knowledge of all these people who changed. Like a name or two, or a thousand since the ex-gay movement has been SO successful. Try not to pick one of the ones who have since recanted, like Chambers or Paulk, two former poster-boys for being ex-gay, who have since reversed their story and now say they are still gay.  (Jul 13, 2013 | post #58)

Hey, you can give up your bigoted religious beliefs too buddy. Your religious beliefs are certainly a lot more of a choice than my being gay.  (Jul 11, 2013 | post #6)

Family Research Council's Tony Perkins Throws Embarrassin...

Those poor, persecuted christianists. Forced by threat of law to treat customers equally. The poor baker may be FORCED to bake a cake for a gay wedding. The poor persecuted photographer may be FORCED to take pictures. The poor, poor things. Compare and contrast their persecution to that of the boy in Chile who is losing his leg due to a crowd of homo-hating thugs. Or any of the numerous examples of gay-bashing in this country. Mr. Perkins, please get back to us when one of your poor persecuted listeners actually suffers physical assault because of their beliefs and their failure to follow the law.  (Jul 11, 2013 | post #5)
