Dogs going missing in Boyd County

Did you ever think that what I meant was that her dog could have been let loose and if this dog hadn't been let loose he would never had ended up in Staten Island. Some people are so touchy or rather some people involved with AARF are so touchy. It sounds like this touched a sore spot on someone's nerves. Could it be that YOU are a member or AARF?  (Jun 21, 2012 | post #63)

Louie's Legacy Animal Rescue needs to return dog to his f...

Jack was finally returned to his owners and the rescues finally admitted that they had Jack. I think they just figured if they made it hard enough on her to get him back that she would just give up. They were wrong and she finally got him back.  (Apr 14, 2012 | post #4)

just noticed you don't even have to copy and paste it so it should be easy Staten Island for you to look up the laws. If I was Jack's owner, Louies would be getting sued.  (Apr 5, 2012 | post #269)

Dear Amazed maybe sinc eyou know so much about the laws in the State of NEW yORK MAYBE YOU NEED TO READ THIS. I assume you know how to copy and paste but that may be beyond you. As soon as Louies was notified that they had this dog they only had ten days to return it to her and dogs are considered property in Kentucky and New York. Ruffin it Grooming

I had my dog groomed there last week and she did a wonderful job and it was clean and there was absolutely no odor. That was the first time that I had taken her there but it won't be the last time either.  (Apr 2, 2012 | post #105)

Ruffin it Grooming

I had a expensive vet bill as a result of a bad grooming experience with Premier Pet Salon. My dog came out of there not able to raise her tail. My vet said that they had pinched her near the base of her tail probably to make her hold still and damaged the nerves. thankfully meds cleared it up but she will never ever go back in that place again.  (Apr 2, 2012 | post #104)

I don't know Amy so can't say if she isn't or is a good person or not. I do find it interesting that you say that they only go from cage to cage and if that is true, that is really really sad. If she knew it was Lauren's dog and was aware of the situation, then she should have stepped in and helped her get her dog back. I was hoping that since Louie's returned the dog to AARF that that was the case and that AARF had stepped up to the plate to right the wrong but if what you are saying is true, that wasn't the case and that is a shame.  (Apr 2, 2012 | post #267)

I don't know why you are taking offense because I posted that labs won't take pets that are microchipped or tattooed. I was commenting on a post that someone else made about people stealing the dogs to sell to labs to let people know that they can do this and they won't take them. If you can't afford to tattoo or microchip the dogs, then just watch them but hopefully the idiots stealing these dogs have left our area. Its your business what you do or don't do for your pets but please make sure you give them their rabies shots. They should start having rabies clinics before long so that you can get the rabies shots fairly cheap and some states offer clinics and give the shot to them for free. Unfortunately Kentucky is not one of those states. You can also buy shots fairly cheaply at Tractor Supply and give them yourself. In Kentucky though the state doesn't recognize you giving them the rabies shots yourself. That only means that if your pet bites or scratches someone that they will be impounded if the person reports it. For years pets were only fed scraps instead of pet food and survived so I guess your pets will too.  (Mar 29, 2012 | post #50)

If your dog is microchipped or tattooed, then the research facilities will not use your dog and has to notify the owners of where the dog is at. http://www.animals microchipping.com/ microchipping/inde x.php  (Mar 28, 2012 | post #48)

Some of the may be coyotes getting a hold of them but what the article said was that there were people going to houses claiming to be either connected with the animal shelter and/or aspca and then saying the dog(s) were being mistreated and telling the owner(s) that if the dog(s) are not turned over they will be back with a warrant. They are advising pet owners who are approached by people like this to call the police and the animal shelter to report it.  (Mar 21, 2012 | post #15)

I don't know if AARF is involved or not. I just know that a lot of dogs are going missing in our area and wanted to warn people of it.  (Mar 20, 2012 | post #8)

I don't know if they are purebreds or not. The dog that was mentioned in the article was a boxer puppy. The dog named jack was a lab mix.  (Mar 20, 2012 | post #6)

Dogs going missing in Boyd County

Came across this article in The Independent http://dailyindepe ndent.com/local/x1 862283685/Dogs-go- missing-in-Boyd and it seems dogs are going missing in Boyd County and mainly in the area neighborhoods of 13th Street and Blackburn Avenue. The article states that people are approaching people who have their dogs out and alleging that dog owner(s) are in violation of dog laws and mistreating the animals and that they can either choose to voluntarily hand their dog(s) over or they are going to get warrants for them. They claim to either be with the Animal Shelter or the ASPCA. This makes me wonder if this isn't tied in with the Jack aka Mister that Ashland Animal Rescue Fund had for a while and who ended up with Louie's Legacy Animal Rescue. According to the article that there have been a lot of missing dogs in our area and they are not turning up at the shelter. They recommend calling the Boyd County Animal Shelter and the police to file reports.  (Mar 20, 2012 | post #1)
