United Airlines closes record-breaking, on-time November
They found away to fudge the ACARS, or at least the numbers (call it mechanical delays, they don't count against you) All aboard the on time bandwagon. Everyone will follow suit soon (17 hrs ago | post #1)
American, TPG offer $1.1 billion to JAL to block Delta
Do I hear 1.2 billion. AMR learned from the best, the US govt. There is a ton of money for projects and aid around the world, but somehow none for the folks at home. I mean that literally. AA can't afford to give it's unions any raises, but the is plenty of bonus money and aid for other carriers around. Next AMR will buy AS to enhance the west coast ala Air Cal and Reno Air. Southwest will rejoice as AA then drops the routes, and more competition is gone at no cost to SWA. I now step down from the soapbox (17 hrs ago | post #2)
Bombardier Says American Eagle Orders 22 Jets
The way AA uses it's Eagle arm, it's more than ferrying pax to hubs from small cities. They need the extra planes to cover all the service they have taken from AA, and plan to in the future (17 hrs ago | post #1)

Southwest Airlines strikes out in airline food survey; Continen...
Southwest has never had food, and doubtfull they will any time soon. It's not thier thing. They have thier customer base that knows they won't be fed. Putting SWA on a list of airlines with buy on board snacks and meals is like putting Mc Donalds up agains Donovans and Ruth Chris' (Sunday Nov 29 | post #2)
Continental Fined in Tarmac Stranding
Good for them. They would have been in a sterile area in the concourse. Chances are the TSA checkpoint was closed, so they would have been contained. Sure no food, but lavs and presumably water fountains as well as the ability to stretch out. Some of the employees of these little airlines, especially at night, just lack the basic knowledge. UAL Attendants Honor (Mock) Picket Lines At American
They supported a mock strike. So the pretended not to cross a line for a strkie that wasn't really happening. I bet in the event of an actual strike they neither march with, or refuse to cross the line. (Sunday Nov 22 | post #5)

Emergency landing in Kan. after plane loses engine
Sounds like Alliegent. If I can fill a S-80 (most likely MB83) with people who will fly cuz it's cheap why not. Look how far the legacy carriers fly thier "regional " jets (Thursday Nov 19 | post #2)

Not too much unless they leave the business model of an all 737 fleet. Unless like routes SWA has been known to fly they go to London with stops in Greenland, Iceland and Manchester. Mexico and Canada are in range. Hawaii not so much. (Wednesday Nov 18 | post #8)

Lose JAL, especially with a potential open skys agreement on the horizon, and lose alot of future dollars. On the other hand, you've been telling your unions for the past 2 years you are broke, however you can find a half a billion to try to keep a partner in your alliance. Must be from the mgmt bonus cofer. (Monday Nov 16 | post #2)
