Yo I think they are really enjoying that sheet of paper. I'm surprised they haven't ripped it to shreds. Adam, at Philly Zoo they hang raw beef rib bones for the meerkats to enjoy.  (Apr 18, 2008 | post #25)

Yo I think you guys are doing a great job with the kats. They look active and not overly plump like some zoo kats. And variety is the spice of life even for a little meerkat. Pronker  (Apr 7, 2008 | post #80)

Yo I saw one of them splatting in the shade this afternoon. Must be warm there today. Meerkat keeper, what other kinds of insects do they get besides crickets (which are like pretzels) and mealworms? Do you ever give them thawed mice or beef bones? Pronker  (Apr 4, 2008 | post #65)

Yo Adam Did they ever have that contest to give names to the meerkats? It was mentioned on the nbc6 interview,(which was really cute). BTW gang you can adopt an animal at the Miami zoo: http://www.miamime trozoo.com/support -the-zoo.asp?Id=86 &rootId=7 Adam do you know if we can specify that we want to adopt a meerkat? Will the eggs be served at Noon? Meerkats are a riot rolling the hard boiled eggs! Pronker  (Apr 3, 2008 | post #57)

Yo Holly Thank you for pointing out that it is "illegal " to buy or have a meerkat as a pet in the USA and many other countries. Jo and Brad: If you want a meerkat-ish type pet for your son, try a domestic ferret. They are cute and comic and available in most states, though in some states it is illegal to own a ferret as well. The best thing to do for Alex is to adopt one of the meerkats at the Miami Zoo in his name. Also there is a new meerkat movie due out in April - May, called Meerkat Manor: In the beginning or something like that. It's the story of Flower Whiskers rise to power over the meerkats at the Kalahari Meerkat Project/Reserve where Meerkat Manor is filmed. If he'd like to interact with meerkats take him to Fellow Earthlings in Palm Springs, CA. He will be able to sit and enjoy being with the meerkats at the reserve. Thank you dear meerkat keeper for keeping that mob of yours healthy and happy. We enjoy seeing them every day! Pronker  (Apr 2, 2008 | post #49)

Yo Adam Dyemarking would in no way change the way your live guests view the kats. It's simply a way to tell them apart. A chart for the zoo guests might even enhance their experience too. Sean - Dominant Male, a dot on the back of his head between the two ears. Alexis - Dominant Female, a dot at her tail base Scooter - M/F - dot on his left shoulder Diana - F dot on her right thigh Marjory - F - a dot on her mid back Skarneck - M? does he really have a scared neck, if so he probably doesn't need a dye mark Is there some other way you as their keeper can tell them apart? Do they have ID chips, perhaps? And who is the one who always sits way up top on the termite mound? Just curious. Thank you for answering our questions. This really is the best web cam on meerkats so far. Pronker  (Mar 29, 2008 | post #40)

Yo Adam Thanks for the info on your kats. If you want to try dye marking, here is some info for you: http://friends.kal ahari-meerkats.com /index.php?id=dyem arks Be sure to use a veggie based or natural dye. Pronker  (Mar 28, 2008 | post #38)

Yo Jeanette: Sorry I don't think you can delete it. We'll just consider it an echo all the way from Germany. Did you see the Colorado meerkats in the snow? Cindy, thank you for the link, though its strange to see them in the snow.  (Mar 20, 2008 | post #18)

Yo Holly We're mobbing the Metro Meerkat keeper! I saw 4 of the little kats sunning by the stand up logs this morning. So cute!  (Mar 19, 2008 | post #13)

Yo Meerkat Keeper: The Metro Zoo's meerkat cam has become a popular watering hole for the Friends of the Kalarhai Meerkat Project Society. We're just buggy for meerkats. Can't get enough of them. Are your meerkats named? Some zoos name them, some don't. But meerkats do get to know their names. My own adoptees at the Philly Zoo: Mae and Gracie respond to their names. BTW check out our website. It has tons of Meerkat information. http://friends.kal ahari-meerkats.com / Also does NBC6 sponsor and keep the webcam running? Pronker  (Mar 19, 2008 | post #11)
