- EUR This N That: Did We Hear Correctly That George Bush...

It's a typical response from someone who comments without the actual experience on the issue, which from what I have seen is a major problem in America right now. You have no knowledge of counterinsurgency from what I can tell, trying to school someone who not only has gone through the training but is doing it on a day in day out basis. When I said Obama benefitted from Bush. I meant that Obama benefitted from Bush's mistakes. Obama has General Patraeus as his general on the ground who came up with our counterinsurgency strategy. But you will probably go back to WMD ? Do you even know what WMD is ? (besides saying weapons of mass destruction) It's no disrespect for Obama to benefit from Bushes mistakes. When I mean benefit I mean that Obama won't have to make the same or simiar mistakes Bush did, he has a "lessons learned" to go by. This is good for Obama and I hope for all our sakes he does succeed. I hope you don't believe that if Gore won we wouldn't have had 911, and/or Afghanistan would be over with already. Please tell me you don't believe that non-sense.  (May 29, 2009 | post #20)

The Stupidity of "Sotomayor is a Racist" Attacks

Well the thing is the conservatives are looking for things to find against her. It's not because she is a women, hispanic or otherwise. It's because Obama selected her. If it was John McCain the republicans would be cheering and the democrats would be looking for reasons not to confirm her. I'm a part of a conceal carry forum and they are looking for reasons not to side with her, looking for any anti-gun statements she may have made.  (May 29, 2009 | post #13)

The Stupidity of "Sotomayor is a Racist" Attacks

Man we don't need facts when we experience it. So I'll talk from experience which is all the fact I need. I wouldn't say that whites get more discrimination but I would say that if your black in a majority white area or white in a majority black or hispanic area, your going to get some form of discrimination and bias. Blacks who live in the black community in all black schools aren't going to get the same amount of discrimination as a black in an all white school and vice versa. As Americans we work towards objectivity, all Americans black, white, hispanic, asian etc. etc. But the republicans, and I'm rather disgusted with most of them after the Obama election because they have gone rather racist, especially Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, and Michael Savage. I don't see it with Sean Hennidity and Michael Medved who I still respect. Dude I hate to tell you but the path the conservative republicans are taking is going to shrink down their party. If I was a democrat I would in secret welcome Rush, Coulter and Savage because they are shrinking down their party. Obama is actually in secret hoping they take the reigns of the GOP, for it ensures that the democrats will keeppolitical power for a very long time. You don't know anything about multiculteralism. But simply listening to Limbaugh Coulter and Savage's montras. It's supposed to give a balanced historical perspective of history which was originally european based. Now I would agree with you that saying that George Washington having slaves which is correct isn't helpful, but mentioning the Tuskegee Airmen in WWII is helpful. The only thing I would say it you need to walk in another persons shoes before passing judgement.  (May 29, 2009 | post #11)

Obama Picks Latina For High Court: Limbaugh says, 'I want...

But Britney, Rush is doing us a favor. He is isolating the GOP in his attempts to re-define it. The GOP the way Rush wants to take it is going like the whig party. See Colin Powell has been trying to send the warning signs for the GOP but they aren't listening. What will happen is the GOP will lose more moderate republicans and the independent base is going to increase. The GOP will turn into a party that cannot get any political power. If they go the way of Rush Limbaugh. Now I used to be a modrate republican, now went independent. Trust me Rush and Coulter are a disease that the GOP cannot get rid of and their statements are further isolating the repubilcans. UNless the moderate repubilcans can take back their party; the republicans will lose a lot of their political power. I say let it happen. If anything Rush and Coulter are exposing the racist attitudes that were embedded in the party anyways. If you have noticed in recent history, those that haven't listened to Colin Powell have tended not to do well.  (May 28, 2009 | post #11)

Latino Gang Targeted Blacks for Violence

Guys this is no different than when the KKK used to go into black areas and terrorize them. Terror is terror no matter who does it, whether the KKK or a Latino gangs. Just because they have a different ethnicity doesn't make it any different. But the thing that as African Americans we need to do is defend ourselves. We don't necessarily need to go on the offensive but personal defense would be needed. the variance of that defense could vary from conceal carry to community defense or in some areas where the threat isn't that large just a community watch or nothign at all. But in general WE CANNOT PLAY VICTIM. No one is listening that will help anyways. Yeah you may get some attantion but anybody who would help isn't going to. Affected communities will have to defend for themselves. But in saying this, I do say that communities that are affected by terrorism need to work with the police. Synergy between the local community and police is what keeps the Taliban out of commuities in Afghanistan, so is the same in this case. So yes blacks need to Arm up but also need to work with the police to deter these gangs. Let the Latino activist communitist work with the gangs to change course IN THE END DEFEND YOURSELF.  (May 28, 2009 | post #887)

I say if the GOP is using this argument, let em. Colin Powell has been sending the warnging signs to the GOP and they are not heeding them. Now I was a moderate black republican but now have changed to independent, because I have democratic and republican views and neither party truly represent me. The GOP is going the way of the whig party.  (May 28, 2009 | post #9)

Why Has Former V.P., Dick Cheney, Gone on the Warpath aga...

The attacks of Cheney on Barack Obama is more than just about his policies. Like Rush Limbaugh, he is trying to redefine the republican party. Him like Limbaugh want to define it as "anti-Obama ". Being that Obama is not only black but also the most "liberal " president to come into the white house. They see a grand opportunity to redefine the republican party by choosing someone they can see as the "bad guy". He and Limbagh know that having a figure that everyone can see and say "bad guy" along with the power he holds, being president, will unite the republicans, or so they believe. Right now there is a fight between the moderates and the "conservative s". People like Cheney and Limbaugh want to drive out people like Colin Powell and Michael Steele who are moderate republicans. In truth the Obama administration also wants this to happen. Obama knows that if they can drive out the moderates the GOP will lose so much of it's political power that they will be a minority party, unable to gain any political power. Cheney wants to drive them out so they can have a base "true" conservative party in the way they want it. In a way it's hijacking the conservative movement. What Cheney and Limbaugh don't realize is that they are killing their political power just to attain their "true" conservative party. Most of the driven out moderates will either go democratic, being listed as conservative democrats; or become independent. The independent movement is growing with the inclusion of many former moderate republicans. The new GOP will not be able to get these votes while the democrats will try to get theirs. We are seeing a change in the two party system thanks to Cheney and Limbaugh's attempts to redefine the GOP.  (May 17, 2009 | post #21)

Defeating Hate Talk Radio

Well the real truth is Iraq wasn't a DIRECT threat to the US. What the truth is was Iraq and Iran were a world threat. The US saw that Iran and Iraq were waging a nuclear arms buildup, similar to Pakistan and India. If allowed to go without being checked both countries would be right now testing nuclear weapons on their own soil to show each other and the world their nuclear capability. NOTICE HOW IRAN IS TRYING TO DEVELOP THEIR CAPABILITY RIGHT NOW. See Isreal destroyed Saddam's nuclear reactor putting Iraq back 20 years. So Saddam used and paid Libya for the research. So when we went into Iraq Libya (who thought they were next) threw up the white flag. The problem is the American people and their naivity. GB wasn't lieing about yellow Cake. That was Pleutonium that was developed in Libya. So he didn't lie about that. But if Bush told the entire truth the American people would have laughed at him and we would be dealing with a nuclear Iran and Iraq playing a nuclear chess game. Also Obama is benefitting from the mistakes of George Bush. The Armed forces in 2003 was based off of a cold war against Russia not counterinsurgency. Bush didn't have Gen. Ptraeus who has founded our current counterinsurgency strategy. Obama does. Bush made the mistakes that any president in that situation would have made and Obama is there to take all the credit for all the successes. This isn't a dis of Obama but just the way things are. Many also think that if we focused on Afghanistan it would have boon over in 4 years. No it wouldn't have. I AM CURRENTLY IN AFGHANISTAN. Afghanistan is called the graveyard of empires for a very good reason. The strategy we are doing in Afghanistan and Iraq now is counterinsurgency which has had to be developed over time. It is the best way to defeat a guerilla style warfare in environments where guerilla warfare is best suited for. Counterinsurgencie s take 12-15 years for success, but the question is do AMERICANS HAVE THE WILLPOWER TO STICK IT OUT. When I talk about Americans I'm not talking about the military. I'm talking about those at home sitting on the couch and watching it all on TV.  (May 13, 2009 | post #24601)

Obama administration issues warning over rightwing extrem...

I think you and Know4life are both living in fantasy worlds. You Stewie are as racist as they come. I said this before people that the warning was a leaked warning and I bet wasn't supposed to be known to the public. For this very reason. The warning causes more damage than anything. Technically I'm on that warning list. I'm a Iraqi/Afganastan veteran. So does that mean the government is after me. I'm not so paranoid. Are the warning completely false. Actually no there is some validity to them, but the question is why was it leaked. Did the person who leaked it feel that government was going to do actions against US civilians to curb this threat. That is the question.  (May 11, 2009 | post #149)

- EUR This N That: Did We Hear Correctly That George Bush...

So your saying that Rush is a racist plain and simple. Let's not smooth this over now. You say what he is. Personally I am very disapointed with him. Maybe it's me, but I have been rather disappointed with many republicans on many issues, and this disappointment has occurred after the Obama election. I am currently in Afghanistan and IMO some things that Obama has done with the "war on terror" have been rather genious. Some I am like WTF. Many GOP people I know are showing their inexperience and narro mindedness with the world and I many times have to correct them from experience. Obama is benefitting from the mistakes of George Bush. Yes I said it right, benefitting. Bush has shown remarkable character in not blasting Obama. I hope that Bush get's some of his credability back over time. Understand that GB in 2003, there was no counterinsurgency strategy, nor any understanding of Islamic culture. In the military we still used FM-7-8 which is the infantry doctrine and it's based upon cold war strategy. So from 2003 - now we have been constantly learning, so when Obama was elected, he gets the benefits of a Gen Patraeus as his general in charge and a somehwat developed counterinsurgency strategy, of which Obama with his experience as a community organizer is best suited for.  (May 11, 2009 | post #18)

Obama And Sykes Bring The Funny At White House Correspond...

I don't see this as funny at all. I support Obama and don't agree with Limbaugh, but making fun of Steele is taking a step backward. If I were the democrats they should take the high road. Like what Obama did in his campaign. Allow the Republicans to find their way but making fun of them gives them reason to unite under a flag being anti-Obama. Lately I haven't liked Steele's so called cowarding to Limbaugh's rants, especially the Barack the magic negro. Do I believe that Obama is getting a pass with the media, Yeah, but saying it as the magic negro is insulting. I think the GOP looking at them are becomging more racist. I look at these factors. In Illinois Alen Keyes got no support from the Illinois GOP, Michael Steele gets no support or little from the GOP, and Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfield together conspired against both Colin Powell and Condolezza Rice. What do all these people have in common. Being black !! I believe there are many repubicans that aren't racist but the party IMO is slowly and surely becoming less of the Lincoln Party and being unattractful to not only blacks but many minorities in the US. Many ethnic groups may agree with the GOP but they may not join them. This is why the GOP is shrinking. I believe people saying they are independent will increase and the number of people saying they are republicans will keep on skrinking. I don't blame George Bush for it either. I blame people like Limbaugh, who I used to listen to but after Obama was elected I have been rather dejected by his statements and stances. Currently I'm an independent. I can vote any way I choose.  (May 11, 2009 | post #2)

Blacks Need More Sunshine

I did misunderstand the original question, I thought they were talking about "black" in America. Because in this country there are people that constantly say "your not black enough" or "your acting white" which is an entirely different issue to this one. This article talks about the biological factor. Melanin. But since we are on this level. The truth is there has been so many mixes the world, that technically everyone is black because somewhere in their history there has been mixing of negro and Caucasion and Asian somewhere. Currently I'm in Afghanistan and I see many asian looking features in many Afghans, especially in the Uzbeck population. Also Alexander the Great had decendants so I do see people that look just like europeans, and I of course see Afghans that look like the stereotypical middle eastern person. Egypt was a mix of Asian minor and Africa and this isn't uncommon. I would say in the world there are more mixed people than non-mixed. Even the most white person if we look at his DNA and go far enough will probably have other cultures and continents. So on the biological level it's very hard to determine. But on the society level, where black and white are based upon a stereotype there definition can be looks and/or political stances.  (May 11, 2009 | post #558)

Blacks Need More Sunshine

Well in America being black represents a political idealoigy as well as skin color. In general: If you "look black", and "do and/or act black things" you are black. If you "look black" and "do and/or act white things" you are acting white. If you "look black" and are republican you are black but listed as a sellout. No matter what you actually do. If you "look white" and "do and/or act black things" you are acting white. No matter what you actually do. If you "look white" and "do and/or act white" you are acting white. In our current society blackness is more or less dictated by stereotypes and political philsophy. I don't see people saying that Clarance Thomas, Colin Powell, Michael Steele, or even Condolezza Rice as black. Many blacks will quickly say that Bill Clinton is more black than they are. Thus I rest my case.  (May 11, 2009 | post #556)

Michael Savage Banned From The United Kingdom

Savage's audience is mainly people that have little contact with other cultures. He hooks people by saying turthful things embedded with hate speech. I have listened to his show and I have heard the hypocracy. For instance, he will say he is against islamic extremism, one one show, and then in another show he will say that he is against Islam. Savage is very good at promoting the "white man's anger". His first show on the air was about how blacks were taking advantage of affirmative acion. Like I said he embeds truth with hate. In talking about his first show there were people that take advantage of he system. But it happens regardless of race but Savage made it seem as if all blacks were doing it. Savage is also bi-polar and doesn't give differing opinions and will insult people that disagree with him. The best way to deal with Savage is to hang up on him before he can insult you. I have noticed he can't handle such callers and flips out every time.  (May 7, 2009 | post #84)

Michelle's Sneakers Causing Drama: First Lady wears $540 ...

poor judgement IMO, but then the media no matter what first lady it was would have gotten the same treatment. It's not to me that she wore $540 shoes she can afford it, but to take such sneakers to a homeless shelter isn't good judgement especially with the media looking for anything. But regardless of her shoes, she did go help the homeless and that is FAR more important IMO. Good for Mrs. Obama.  (May 4, 2009 | post #6)
