On the road to $100 million

Oh, but it is an elitist project. Don't lie!  (Jan 27, 2007 | post #1)

Papers suggest grand-jury report is critical of Tanner's ...

It seems reasonable to open the entire file. The sheriffs' concerns are legitimate because silence from the court suggests that another veil is being put over an already veiled report.  (Jan 26, 2007 | post #1)

Orange sheriff: We need more money for OT

Quaint! Spending money on an out-of-state gimmick to tell the good Shire's Reef that he needs more deputies and more coin sounds like the double-games of the Shire's Reef of Nottingham. Wicked King John is nearby, no doubt, but hopefully, Good King Richard will soon ride to the rescue, rid the Shire of this purse-clutching Shire's Reef and put and end to the scattering of coin to the four winds. At the very least, Robin Hood will thwart the Shire's Reef's greedy scheme.  (Jan 26, 2007 | post #11)

Be more ambitious

Nonsense! The budget is full of faculty salaries for deadwood professors whose ambition is to do nothing except scoff loudly at the local communities. The universities are granting tenure where tenure is not appropriate, obviously they have more money than they need. The probelm is feather-bedding professors who don't even want to be in Florida. Let the universities review their budgets. They need to clean house before thei budgets can be enriched.  (Jan 26, 2007 | post #1)

Restore trust

I never thought of it that way, but I can see your point. I didn't realize that the expressway board was limited to only Orange County. That information opens a fresh barrel of worms having to do with narrowing the perspective, but never mind all that.  (Jan 25, 2007 | post #3)

Pearlman's Gulfstream jet is seized by deputies

Always an entertainer, poor Lou makes good press as he flounders about in his economic malstrom. No sympathy here.  (Jan 25, 2007 | post #3)

Why do so few local Hispanics vote?

But Herr Koening, isn't that a German name as well as a noun in the German language that translate to "king" By the standards you're applying to our Puerto Rican citizens, you should change your name to "King."  (Jan 25, 2007 | post #4)

Dyer envisions city with busy sidewalks

Does Mr. Dyer live in Connecticut? I'm interested in learning how he plans to air condition the sidewalks in subtropical Florida's summer.  (Jan 24, 2007 | post #6)

Crotty elected toll-road agency chair

Dear Mr. Crotty, That was not a prudent move. Very truly yours, A Voter.  (Jan 24, 2007 | post #14)

Bush tries to regain footing

The lead sentence (which is not a true lead sentence) says, "Can this presidency be saved?" That's a clear signal that this article belongs on the "Opinion " page, not the "News" page. The obvious response to the question is, "Why would any sane person want to save this presidency?" but that's a matter for the "Opinion " page, not the "News" page. mmmmkay?  (Jan 24, 2007 | post #4)

Mavs gain 8th straight win, defeat Magic 111-95

Yes, I have to agree. Today's basketball is an Afro-European game, Latinos play baseball and that's all. It seems there's a ceiling in basketball frachises. However, things change as time goes on. Back in EIsenhower's day and I was a high school b-ball snot, b-ball was a white man's game. The players wore runner's shorts instead of mid-calf kilts. Now "white men can't jump." Someday, that will all turn around again. It's a game, it'll be fun to see what happens as time goes on some more.  (Jan 24, 2007 | post #5)
