Folks, stating that someone did something illegal before they have actually been charged is libelous, and the poster can be tracked and sued. We will block comments if posters continue to make accusations of illegal acts prior to charges.  (Apr 27, 2011 | post #56)

Fountain at King and Glen Streets damaged

Bystander and police scanner information is often inaccurate or at least extremely incomplete. It may also be legally actionable if published in error. We need to use authoritative information from police, first responders and hospitals, rather than what "everybody " heard. There are a host of reasons why the official reports may not be immediately available.  (Apr 26, 2011 | post #6)

Western Pa. man hurt in bear attack

Here's an update: UNIONTOWN, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania Game Commission supervisor says there’s “no credence” to a report that a southwestern Pennsylvania man was bitten or otherwise attacked by a bear. Adam Knopsnider’s family told reporters for WPXI-TV and WTAE-TV that he was bitten by the animal when he went outside to investigate a suspicious noise about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. But Scott Tomlinson, the game commission’s southwestern region enforcement supervisor, says there were no bear tracks or other evidence the attack occurred as reported in North Union Township, Fayette County. There was evidence the man may have been bitten by a dog during a domestic dispute. A phone number listed for the family wasn’t in service Wednesday. Tomlinson tells The Associated Press, “There’s no credence to the fact that there was a bear” even in the area about 35 miles south of Pittsburgh.  (Apr 7, 2011 | post #8)
