Evolution Debate

Should evolution be taught in high school?

I think we really get off track too easily. We start to focus on things that don't matter, instead of focusing on the only thing that DOES matter. I've said this many times before: There are only two things in this world that are important, God and people. So what's the Message that we should be delivering? God loves people. Period. I think even when we say, "God loves the world," or "God loves sinners," we are missing the point. The Message... is about people. It's about a God who created people, because He loves people. Look at 1 Thessalonians 1:8 in the Message Bible, "The word has gotten around. Your lives are echoing the Master's Word, not only in the provinces but all over the place. The news of your faith in God is out. We don't even have to say anything anymore--you're the message!" WE are the Message. God loving people enough to LIVE in people is the Message. It's not about coming to Him, it's about how HE came to us! And what I mean by that is, God had to come to us, not because He ever left us, but because WE left Him. He created us with free choice, and we used that choice to reject Him. After disobeying God, Adam hid from God's presence. God was still there, but Adam wasn't interested. The choice was never whether or not to stay with God. The choice came AFTER Adam left God. The choice was always, "Stay where you are, or come back to Daddy's house." And, as we see in the story of the prodigal son, no matter how low someone goes, when they return to Daddy's house.. He welcomes them with open arms. The Message isn't, "turn or burn." It's not, "get right or get left." It's not a Message of God's anger. It's a Message of God's love. Because God IS love. So we not only preach the Message... we ARE the Message... when we receive His love. When we receive and release the love of the Father, that's what makes us the Son. That's how we preach the Gospel. I've heard it said like this, "Preach the Gospel at all times, and if you have to... use your words." 1 Thessalonians goes on to say, in chapter 2 verse 8, "We loved you dearly. Not content to just pass on the Message, we wanted to give you our hearts. And we did." See, the Message isn't something you preach, or something you learn, or something you argue about... it's something you ARE. It's the heart of God beating in the chest of man. It's taking the gift that we've been given (and the gift's name is Jesus) and living that gift every second of every day. Not trying to make God a part of our lives, but realizing that God IS our life! He doesn't change our heart, He gives us His! It's not about making "bad" people "good." It's about making dead people alive! People who were dead in their trespasses and sins are now alive unto God! That's the Message. The Message is Daddy's love for His Son in all PEOPLE. It's not about anything but people and God. Love God and love people. Love God by loving people. People need to SEE Jesus in us. They need to FEEL His love flowing out of us. They need something real. Not a bunch of words, but THE Word! Jesus is God's Word. Love is God's Word. Nothing else matters. Nothing else is the Message.  (Apr 30, 2013 | post #128776)

Atheism

Don't dictate beliefs

Top 10 signs that you are a fundamentalist atheist 10.You claim to hold no Dogma. Yet, you're just as rigid and stubborn with your beliefs as any Dogmatists. 9.'Thinking for yourself' means adopting an atheist viewpoint. 8.You think that spamming Christian chatgroups and discussion lists with expletives and insults demonstrates superior free-thinking, rational, atheistic logic. 7.You get mad when Christians stereotype you, and then proceed to treat them along the lines of your stereotype of them. 6.You believe that because someone is an atheist, they are more educated and more open minded than a religious person. 5.You think that almost every genre of thinking MUST envoke scientific argumentation. 4.You feel superior over Christians because you’re an atheist. 3.You claim that no one can be a true atheist and convert to religion, whilst still suggesting that atheism is the default position by birth. 2.You say to capitalize the "a" in Atheist. 1.You KNOW you are right about Gods non-existence. Christians will see that nothing happens when they die....and you'll be laughing at them in your grave for being wrong....  (Sep 25, 2012 | post #1362)

what is your point? Josephus was born thirty-seven years after the death of Jesus. It was called a forgery. I offered a substitute. The End.  (Sep 25, 2012 | post #1284)

Why would you consider that post an attack? It only points out the tactics being used by dogmatic atheists. Science does not work with proofs. It works with theories and hypotheses. Proofs are a foolish endeavor.  (Sep 25, 2012 | post #5467)

All that matters is that you read it. Spotting the single missing apostrophe in the last example is a wonderful accomplishment on your part. For your information "plagerizer " should be plagerized.  (Sep 25, 2012 | post #5466)

Don't dictate beliefs

Cornelius Tacitus (AD 56 – AD 117) In his Annals, in book 15, chapter 44, written c. 116 AD, there is a passage which refers to Christ, to Pontius Pilate, and to a mass execution of the Christians after a six-day fire that burned much of Rome in July 64 AD by Nero. "Consequently , to get rid of the report, Nero fastened the guilt and inflicted the most exquisite tortures on a class hated for their abominations, called Christians by the populace. Christus, from whom the name had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of one of our procurators, Pontius Pilatus, and a most mischievous superstition, thus checked for the moment, again broke out not only in Judæa, the first source of the evil, but even in Rome, where all things hideous and shameful from every part of the world find their centre and become popular. Accordingly, an arrest was first made of all who pleaded guilty; then, upon their information, an immense multitude was convicted, not so much of the crime of firing the city, as of hatred against mankind".  (Sep 25, 2012 | post #1282)

Atheism

Atheism requires as much faith as religion?

Proverbs 3:5-7: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil.”  (Nov 19, 2011 | post #65215)

See, they can not prove that you have called them names so they try and bait you into it by calling you names. You would think that they would have a hard time typing with all the time they spend patting each other on the back about nothing.  (Oct 18, 2011 | post #26176)

A personal attack? Do you mean along the lines of saying that people are liars, godbots, or full of hate? I did not attack you personally. I pointed out your tactics, nothing more. I will be nice and not even call you a liar.  (Oct 16, 2011 | post #26000)

I see your tactic BoQF. You know that religious people are just people and you play on that fact. You taunt and goad them into making angry replies, you prey upon their emotions, and belittle their faith. When these people do respond in anger, as would be expected, you call them hateful and blame their belief system for their human emotions. That is a sick and twisted ploy to use, BoQF. For shame...  (Oct 16, 2011 | post #25984)

God meant a spiritual death. The serpent twisted the meaning. Getting Adam and Eve to believe that he meant a physical death. Then again, it could have been both. They may have lived forever if they didn't eat, but only God knows for sure. Either way , the only one that lied was Adam when he tried to put all of the blame on Eve.  (Oct 14, 2011 | post #25718)

"There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again" (John 3:1-7).  (Oct 14, 2011 | post #25500)

You can twist my words however you like. I know that you know what I meant, deep in your spirit. Faith is a ParT of being alive. The same as an arm or a leg, sight or touch, with out it a person in not wholly.  (Oct 13, 2011 | post #25496)

Why do Americans still dislike atheists?

When tragedy happens, we often see the best of human spirit, because tragedy shakes us from lives of complacency and routine. We glimpse our vulnerability and our humanity, and in so doing we naturally come together to comfort and love one another. The modern Western life is, however, in direct opposition to this coming together, with countless barriers to human co-joining: we compete for jobs, live in containers, drive containers, get lost in media illusions, use sex to avoid intimacy, hanker after the chimeras of fame and fortune, and live practically our whole lives behind the ego's mask. Tragedy cuts right through these barriers, so that we glimpse once again our innate unity, before the momentum of Western society has a chance to resurrect the barriers on which its dysfunction depends, separating us out again into competitors and waring factions. This glimpse of our innate unity is our greatest grace, and it is something that we all pursue under many different guises. Formally, it might be known as spirituality, religion or community; but everybody is looking for unity to some degree – we try to get it from the "tribal" buzz of supporting a sports team, from the ephemeral ecstasy of the sexual embrace, and from alcohol's comforting inebriation. The Holy Grail has always been that place beyond barriers, where we can collectively flow free.  (Oct 13, 2011 | post #25483)
