Illegal Hiring

It's a safe bet that there are some illegal aliens working all sorts of jobs around our communities. However, I'll be [email protected] if I know how to tell conclusively. For all I know, the guy with the leaf blower on my neighbor's lawn was born in El Paso, TX. I just don't see illegal aliens going away anytime soon... no matter what some politician does. Perhaps if there was a way to prevent Americans from hiring them in order to line their own pockets with higher profit, we could eliminate the desire for these individuals come over here to pick produce, lay brick, scrub motel toilets, and make our golf courses look good. So just convince some Americans to not be so greedy. Yeah... that seems feasable.  (Jan 30, 2010 | post #38)

Another great idea to curb the amount of abortions: We need to teach men that they should never have sex with anyone they never intend on marrying or having children with. Once we cure men of these unwise endevours; we can save all the babies.  (Jan 29, 2010 | post #227)

Perhaps how you've put it in this thread epitomizes how we've gotten to the point we are now as a society on this subject. Legally; yes one can obtain an abortion. Morally one probably needs to consult their minister/preist or other church resources before making such a decision. As we see in many instances, legality & morality are usually two different things in our country.  (Jan 29, 2010 | post #226)

If a liberal democrat's mother were to abort them; would their sould not go directly to heaven? Thus giving them a better chance @ glory in the afterlife then a conservative who's walked the Earth and sinned for 60 to 80 years?  (Jan 29, 2010 | post #225)

This is a good point. The whole "when does life begin". If you base it on Christain teachings; technically God already knows you before you enter the womb. So pretty much men masterbating is a serious, serious offense against unborn life and quite possibly one that will doom men to a eternal lake of fire.  (Jan 29, 2010 | post #224)

I don't understand why the more conservative of our society don't address the root of the problem that would cause people to seek an abortion. Abortions happened due to unwanted pregnancies. Unwanted pregnacies happen when people are fornicating with people they shouldn't. If you get rid of premarital sex, the odds that two people create an unwanted pregnancy go way down. They've argued that the mere fact that such a procedure is legal, that encourages women to be more promiscuous. Well, there's also a myriad of birth control methods out there that might do that. If we are, as a society, to believe abortion should be illegal due to moral grounds, then we should also outlaw premarital sexual intercourse. Something that all church-goers & family-valued conservatives could agree with. But yet why do we not here the outcry from this camp to rid society of frivalous sex in order to reduce unwanted pregnancies?  (Jan 29, 2010 | post #222)

APNewsBreak: 4 charged in La. senator phone scheme

These folks, though conservative heroes, are kinda idiots. Most folks, if they are privy to illegality share it w/ the proper authorities. This doesn't make sense. They come from the camp that believes in the rule of law.  (Jan 27, 2010 | post #160)

Being gay is not a choice. What if it were?

Choice or not. I think with all the debat about it one could only come up with one conclusion. It's a little bit of both. I've known plenty of people who've delved on the othe side of the fence for one reason or another. Who hasn't seen a couple of gals in a bar in college sucking face for the crowd? I mean, are all these chicks that do this on spring break going to hell? Bottom line: people bang who they wanna bang. There's really no way to explain it.  (Nov 24, 2009 | post #628)

Adult VideoStore on Lovell Road is Shameful

Different strokes indeed... Some with the left, some with the right. Some go with the double-fists. Some go medium, some go slow, some just pound away in an attempt to turn Japenese. As for the store, apparently there must of been some market research into this business venture to warrant the size & inventory of this place. Basically, it's capitalism at it's best. See a market opportunity & go for it.  (Oct 25, 2009 | post #184)

Perhaps the writer is bi-racial. Maybe something like Tiger Woods. You are correct about many posters lack of concern for correct grammer or spelling. But hey, it's the internet and anonymous so nobody cares if you write like a 6th grader.  (Oct 25, 2009 | post #86)

Rivals attack Haslam's stance on guns in parks

Good points made in many of the posts above. Everyone has their political leanings and that's bound to effect how we view things. However, the reality of most situations in the politcal arena are that both sides are doing whatever they can in order to be on top. Many of these efforts are far from ethical. Americans seem willing to except this as long as the resulting power-grab between the two major sides gives us something in the middle that we can all live with. Haslem, as best as I can tell, is somewhat moderate. He'll probably have to say some stuff that he doesn't really mean in the primaries in order to survive. However, if he's able to get to a general election; his being moderate will help him in going to Nashville to be our next Governor.  (Oct 25, 2009 | post #24)

Review: Jimmy's Southern Pub LLC

I've been to both establishments and I have to say I give the edge to Smokey's. Neither would be my ideal place to meet a gal, based on the quality of them that I've seen, but a nice dive to have a brew, listen to some tunes, eat some greasy food, and watch TV.  (Oct 25, 2009 | post #2)

Kathy, I would imagine that any sort of hate-crime legistlation would primarily be the concern of those alledged to have committed crimes against someone based on their sexual orientation, nationality, race, gender, etc. rather than law abiding citizens. Basically if one is not out trying to beat down people they don't like based on the things mentioned above; they don't have to worry about it.  (Oct 25, 2009 | post #196)
