In need of bulldozer work.

Or possibly rent one yourself if that is an option for you.  (Dec 4, 2014 | post #3)

hud/low income apartments!

I don't know the rent amount but there is a mobile home out Slate Branch Spur for rent. Looks like a 2 bedroom from the size. If you go south on 27, then right on 1642 and just keep going straight, you will see it. Just so you know you have gone the right way, you would pass a Marathon station on the left and about 2-3 miles later come to a stop sign with a church on the far left corner. Just keep going straight until the road makes a 90 degree bend and after the bend you will see it.  (Dec 1, 2014 | post #10)

FYI... the HUD office in Somerset has a waiting list (about one year) so no real solution there. I visited them in June or July for someone I know who was thinking of moving to Somerset. They didn't move. But good luck. You will need it.  (Nov 29, 2014 | post #7)

Wheels for 97 Z28

Depends on what you are looking for. Original? Special chrome design? Plain steel? Lots of places on line like Coker tire, Goodrich, discount Auto tire, etc. And there is always the junk yard. But before you give that Z28 to a 16 year old, CALL YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY. You may decide it isn't worth it. I know I would NEVER give a 16 year old boy a car like that. Even if he is the most level headed kid in the school, it will cause momentary lapses in judgement at increasing intervals the longer he has it. There are reasons the insurance companies charge college tuition type payments for 16 year olds. It is the old a "little knowledge" can be dangerous. They think they are expert drivers at age 16 and know they are by age 17.  (Nov 24, 2014 | post #2)

Still waiting for the Republicans/Conservatives to go to school and learn to read. A PATH to citizenship is not the same as AMNESTY. Right now it takes at least 5 YEARS to get through the system to become a citizen. Also many hundreds of dollars that many of the illegals can't afford and never could in their own country. Obama SUGGESTS an alternative that would be easier and faster but the ever present FEAR MONGERS on the other side of the isle continue to make their sheep believe that anything short of deportation and execution is asking for the country to destroy itself. Seems to me the other side is the one keeping any compromises from being passed and keeping Washington DC in idle mode and nothing getting done. But to be fair, the Democrat/Liberal side will be doing the same thing as soon as the fear mongers get control. It is a game where one side becomes the fear monger for a bit and then tosses the title to the other side. AGAIN, I say (and I do this with my votes where there are actually opponents!), vote EVERY incumbent OUT of OFFICE until they all get the message that we want cooperation and progress!  (Nov 22, 2014 | post #5)

Obama buying votes.

Well he is nearing the end of his second term and I have not seen an Islamic Republic set up in the USA yet. No Meccas being built. So as usual, it has been and always will be just the fear tactics of the Conservatives.  (Nov 22, 2014 | post #28)

Yes. I also had a rental near Ford's (across river) and it was bad there too. I get Verizon out Slate Branch but it is spotty and cuts out a lot.  (Nov 19, 2014 | post #5)

wicked witch and Tipsy... keep in mind that there may be two things at play here. Sometimes a carrier will give a NEW customer something they won't give an old customer. Second, if whoever Straight Talk is using for their network is now offering unlimited text, data or whatever, it could be passed along to Straight Talk customers but ONLY if you ask for it. Therefore, old customers will continue to be charged where new ones won't. It is how they make free money! Don't tell anyone what they are paying for is now free.  (Nov 12, 2014 | post #10)

What's mitch McConnell done for coal, when there is no el...

Some of your posts have been on the fringe but REALLY? Pastor Manning? You want to base ANYTHING on that nut job? He claims there is Muslim semen in your Starbucks latte and every world leader is gay (I suppose that could be true). But in the end, your assertion that Obama is not a citizen seems to be a parrot reaction since I doubt very much you have seen his birth certificate. IF Obama was not eligible to be President, he would have been removed from office in the first 3 months if he even got that far. Everyone running for a major office goes through an extensive background check. It would be nearly impossible for someone not qualified by citizenship to run, much less get elected or stay in office. At the very worst, he would have been prevented from running for a second term.  (Nov 7, 2014 | post #20194)

Oh but you forget. All that is Obama's fault. HE made all that happen months before he was elected!  (Nov 7, 2014 | post #20193)

I know all the Obama haters out there will yell impeachment but it won't happen. There is no basis for it. With Clinton, there was a perceived abuse of power over an intern even though she clearly was a consenting adult. This was enough for the charges but not enough to throw him out of office. Obama, to the best of my knowledge, has not done anything clearly illegal. There are some radical right types (even on here) that will say many things were illegal but actually were not. He has walked the line because if he didn't, his entire Presidency would have been a waste of time since the Republicans refused to work with him on anything substantial. An executive order was about the only path he had left. Obama's health care program is actually GOOD for a good portion of Americans and those wanting to repeal it will not only cost the country billions, it will return the poor to no health care. Republicans have publicly said they want to get rid of it. One of the misconceptions the radical right spouts is that Obama's plan regulates the health industry. Other than requiring health plans to meet a minimum standard, it does nothing. Your insurance is still with YOUR carrier and your carrier and doctor determine your treatment. The health plan does require the insurance industry to justify large increases in premiums and does not allow for NON coverage just because it is deemed too expensive by the insurance company. For years the insurance industry has refused to cover certain procedures JUST because they were too expensive for the insurance company pocket book. Not covering previous conditions was another insurance company roadblock that saved them money. Some insurance companies have decided NOT to play the Obama care game and you can still get insurance with them if you happen to be a regular lottery winner or have Bill Gates or Warren Buffet in your back pocket to pay for it. Republicans will say how Obamacare has hurt the elderly but in reality, the cuts in Medicare are picked up with coverages in the Health Care Act. Whether it was a one for one swap hasn't been determined yet. But many day to day coverages for office visits and preventative care that used to cost seniors cash out of pocket (the most common expense!), are now free. Coverage D is also being plugged which should save seniors thousands on prescriptions. The Affordable Health Care Act also has provisions for small business to help pay for coverage for their employees since many small businesses can't afford the premiums. Several MILLION Americans now have quality health care with a private doctor due to the Obama health plan and the Republicans seem Hell bent on taking that away. Is that really doing something good for Americans? It helps the poor on a sliding scale so the poorest get the most help with gradually less help as the income rises. But then millionaire politicians don't care about that, do they? They worry more about taxes on the rich that contribute to their election campaigns. As for Hillary in 2016, I doubt it. She may run but I don't see her being popular enough to win. However I could be wrong depending on who else runs. She definitely has the experience AND she has Bill to give her additional advice much like George Bush Jr had his father who had actual experience to give. I'm not a Mitch lover but all the Mitch and China comments are uncalled for. His wife is Asian and she INHERITED a bunch of money through China. That doesn't make Mitch a Chinese back stabber. The largest portion of his wealth was from that. He probably hasn't used his position any worse than anyone else in Washington to get rich. I just hate that he has power and appears to do nothing substantial with it. And what he says he wants to do is return Kentucky to the dark ages.  (Nov 6, 2014 | post #20033)

Consumer Cellular also uses the AT&T network and has the iPhone. Their plans are very flexible. You can change it in mid month and change it back again in the same month if you want to. Helps keep the cost of a busy week down. If you have an AT&T phone, it should work on any of the other carriers that use AT&T but you will need a new sim card for the new carrier. I live out near the lake and Verizon coverage is terrible. ALSO keep in mind that although AT&T will talk about 4G and LTE, at my last check last year they didn't have any towers around Somerset that would support it so you pay the cost of an expensive phone but only get 2G or 3G service locally. Do NOT trust coverage maps anyone shows you. The hills make a big difference in where the blank spots are!  (Nov 5, 2014 | post #4)

Service can be weighed in more than one way. Although they show a coverage map that blankets many areas, there are still areas that get lousy coverage (not just Verizon). Find someone living near you and/or going similar places to see what they say about actual reception. Having the best carrier in the world doesn't do you any good if you can't get bars. Where I live out near the lake, we get really bad Verizon coverage. Although AT&T will talk about their 4G and LTE networks, the majority of the towers around Somerset can only carry 2G signal (way out dated!!). In either case, look around at the other carriers. You can pay less and use the same network. For instance I believe Virgin uses either the T-Mobile or Sprint network. Consumer Cellular uses the AT&T network. Off the top of my head I don't remember which uses Verizon (Tracfone?). You get the same network at half the cost and an AT&T phone you already have, for instance, will work on the Consumer Cellular network since it uses AT&T. No need to buy a new phone.  (Nov 5, 2014 | post #2)
