Obama-Marriage - Sault Ste. Marie, MI

I think you meant to say: "not only ignorance about what being gay is about." I agree with you, but I think these anti-gay types will dwindle to just a handful in, say, another 40-50 years. Progress is slow, but it comes eventually. A lot of these folks will carry their prejudice straight to the graves. Obama is probably just using this issue for political advantage, I suspect. I really don't see where he can change things though, not with the way these people think. Just my humble opinion.  (May 21, 2012 | post #2)

If I am "dumb" about the market, then relatively speaking you are totally brain dead. I suggest that you move as much of your money into gold as you can, since you value Glen's advice so much.  (Aug 12, 2011 | post #8319)

I suggest that you contact the managers of Topix and ask them to relocate this board to a separate location. We have no control over that.  (Aug 12, 2011 | post #8318)

What about sales tax, property tax, usage tax, FICA, and Medicare? What about the fact that what they (and other workkers) have paid into social security has been stolen by the wealthy in the form of INCOME tax cuts? You need to educate yourself on the word "fungible. " Damn you're stupid@  (Aug 12, 2011 | post #8317)

You're such a loser a1270. I hope that you have been buying into Glenn Beck's gold. I understand that he's been selling into the buying spree. I'm glad you have him to look after your best interest. Fool.  (Aug 12, 2011 | post #8304)

A thousand lashes with a wet noodle for your side, I see. The Tea Party will lose support if they become too big of a problem for their political puppeteers. Frankly, I see them more as fools/tools of the Koch Bros. When they start reviewing their 401(k) statements and when it dawns on them how the stock market is affecting their pension plans, the smartest ones will see the light. The rest of them will populate Topix boards spewing out their nonsense and ignorance while declaring themselves winners of the great debate against liberals and Democrats. I agree that "our side" has some unsavory types, but I'll take the stink on my side over that on your's any time.  (Aug 12, 2011 | post #8303)

Evan Bayh? Honestly, he may have called himself a Democrat, but that is in name only. He is a darling of the Chamber of Commerce now. If he were to try to return to public office, I would not be a supporter. It does not surprise me that you like him.  (Aug 12, 2011 | post #8302)

Ryan Medicare Plan - Sault Ste. Marie, MI

The plan actually increases our deficit and features false assumptions, according to some analyses. The voucher idea would prove catastrophic for elderly seeking urgent health care. I doubt that Mr. Ryan has the ability to come up with a viable plan.  (Aug 9, 2011 | post #1)

You might be deceiving everyone else on this board, including yourself, but you are not deceiving me. Your cheap shots are pretty much directed at only certain groups: Democrats and liberals. If your contempt was non-partisan, your posts would be as well. They are not. By the way, name the leader who you think "can do that!!!!!!" I'll brace myself so you don't blow me over with the revelation of who that might be.  (Aug 7, 2011 | post #8259)

Oh, okay, a1270. I'll humor you and "agree" that every country in the world believed that Iraq had WMD. That's why they called for inspections and when the inspections came back saying that none were found, they stuck to their belief regardless. Every single country believed that Iraq had WMD. Every single one. After all, you thought that I could not name one country and that there was no proof of that. And Boenher never said after the debt ceiling agreement that he got 98% of what he wanted. That was all fiction. Mitch McConnell was practically depressed because the Republicans were shoved aside as Obama got everything he wanted in the debt deal. There a1270. I "agreed" with you on these points. I hope that makes you happy. Only in bizarro world, a1270, only in bizarro world.  (Aug 7, 2011 | post #8258)

I never said anything about concern for the stock market. I was pointing out to you that you were wrong when you said that news of the S&P downgrade was postponed by the Obama Administration to protect Obama. You see everything through a partisan lens, even when it isn't merited. You have a score of problems arising out of your insistence on seeing EVERYTHING through politics. That's why you're in such a mess. By the way contact the folks at this site: http://www.mfso.or g/ Let them know what you think. I'm sure they will want to hear from a real jackass right about now.  (Aug 7, 2011 | post #8253)

Do you want an escalation of war in Afghanistan? Just exactly what do you want the United States to accomplish there and what is your plan? More of your cheap shots at OUR President. What an eye-roller you are. If you hate America, maybe you could relocate to one more suitable to your liking. Try Somalia. And just exactly what war experience did Bush have? And what military arsenal is being cut back in Afghanistan? As for the downgrade question, ask yourself: With the stock market plummeting dangerously all week, what do you think would have happened if this news was released, say, at noon hour? Use your imagination. When the market is on a very rocky ride, it is best to release any major negative news after the market closes. S&P will pay dearly for its mistake by BOTH Republicans and Democrats, but they at least had the good sense to wait until closing before dropping their bomb. Moreover, they did it before the weekend giving the market the needed time to digest and evaluate the news. If that news had been dropped during the course of the day when the market was in session, the reaction would have been immediate, panic-filled and severely catastrophic. Evidently you do not have any money in the stock market because if you did, you would have known better.  (Aug 7, 2011 | post #8251)

Their attack on Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame was inexcusable. In my opinion someone should have been shot for treason--after a trial, of course. They appointed Patrick Fitzgerald, a very respected Republican from Illinois, to act as prosecurtor. When he got too close, Bush commuted Libby's sentence and took away leverage. The righties attacked Fitzgerald viciously, of course, but he has too much integrity to be bothered by it. He is back in Illinois doing his job as competently as ever.  (Aug 7, 2011 | post #8249)

I understand what you are saying. Of course, I am only providing my opinion here, for what it's worth. I know that the Presidential Daily Brief in August 2001 warned of imminent attack, but I do not think it was ignored deliberately. I think it was ignored because of incompetence. When the new Administration came in to replace the Clinton Administration, the reports were that they did not listen much to staff and/or advisors. Their contempt of the government employees was sensed by the employees. When Richard Clarke reported that the Administration ignored the al Qaida threat, I believe it was because they simply had no interest in governing. They ignored the reports to the detriment of thousands of American lives on 9/11. I do not think it was deliberate. They just had a bad attitude from the get-go and no interest in doing their job. Years back, I heard someone on Washington Journal on C-Span brag about how he mortgaged his house to buy Haliburton stock when the Bush Administration came into office. He made out like a bandit. Of course the fact that his new wealth came at the cost of so many lives did not bother him one bit. To those who think I should defend this guy's right to tax cuts: FORGET IT!  (Aug 7, 2011 | post #8248)
