Cash for clunkers is questionable program

Thousands of working poor are in desperate need for working automobiles, and the congress - at the request of the President - is taking them away from them. Why are the Democrats against the poor?  (Aug 10, 2009 | post #1)

PPL should use profits

You people should stop showing off your ignorance. PPL buys power on the open market or through long term contracts for electric supply, The current contracts are running out and the new costs are significantly higher than the current rates can support. Therefore PPL would have to declare pankruptcy (sp??) if the rate caps (which have kept prices artificially low for a decade) are not allowed to expire. Welcome to another government takeover. How's that Hope and Change working out for ya?  (Aug 4, 2009 | post #34)

PPL should use profits

Of course there has not been 'real competition' in electric distribution. That's why they are DEREGULATING! PPL has sacrificed 10 years of profits because the State couldn't bear to allow freedom to occur too quickly. Now we are going to pay the price for REGULATION - not deregulation.  (Aug 3, 2009 | post #11)

Issue: The repercussions of altering taxes now State cuts...

The state budget is in trouble because income is down because of the economic slowdown and because spending is too high. Therefore the solution is to raise tax rates - which will prolong the downturn and will allow spending to increase? On the other hand, lowering tax rates will cause the economy to explode, and tax income to incrase dramatically (it happens every time it's tried). Nobody ever said you had to be smart to be in Government.  (Jul 13, 2009 | post #4)

"All the while, we allow huge corporations to skirt their obligation to pay their fair share of Pennsylvania taxes." News flash, Senator. Corporations do not pay income taxes. Corporations collect taxes from their customers and pass them on to the State. That way cowards like you can hide the real tax burden from your constituents.  (Jun 25, 2009 | post #1)

Lobby for Congress to fix clean energy bill

"Wind and solar create more than twice as many jobs as coal and oil" Every letter from a Liberal must contain at least one laugh-line. "Even worse, the bill would repeal parts of the Clean Air Act, preventing Obama from cracking down on dirty power plants." Welcome to the coming thugocracy. Rendell wants to raise income tax a half point

THIS is interesting: Yesterdays lede: "Gov. Ed Rendell wants to increase Pennsylvania's personal income tax by 0.5 percent." http://bit.ly/OzQj M Today's lede: "Ed Rendell announced he will seek a temporary, half-percentage-po int increase in the state's personal income tax." There is a big difference between "0.5 percent" and "half a percentage point" - the latter being a 16% increase over the current rate. State-sponsored gambling is a voluntary tax paid by those who are bad at math. Payday lenders are perfectly legal, so why protest them?  (Jun 17, 2009 | post #1)
