Attacks on homeless rose 13% last year, studies show
I doubt seriously "all homeless" are "innocent victims"... I was, an innocent victim. I had the great experience of staying at a known Austin shelter - my truck was stolen by DRUG ADDICTS... who live in suched shelters... I was a real homeless person - poof one day I had a home, a next day a screaming alcoholic mother (who was disable) screamed for me to get out of her house... CIRCUMSTANCE MAKES MANY HOMELESS. To buy or not to buy a gallon of milk, can inch you to a verge of homelessness. Many terrible things happen to homeless, living in shelters, the street - most of the ones on the actual street CHOOSE the street - because they are drug addicts... I have 2 brothers, who are cops, an uncle and a nephew - what does nepotism have to do with a good homeless story or a bad homeless story? Good, bad or ugly - I will post regarding homeless, homeless civil right to groups or I will talk it when I have the oppourtunity - just know in this world - today - 5 May 2008, we have lots of poverty, working poor, foreclosures, AND HOMELESSNESS. Lots of people, lots of media attention, lots of "laws" broken... BUT ~ "they" have been doing this in west Texas for over 11 years!! Why was this not addressed 10 years ago? Why has this been put off til a presidential election year. Rick Perry is running AGAIN here in Texas (I suppose this next go round he will jump back on the demo wagon.... geesch) WHY WAS THIS NOT ADDRESSED A LONG TIME AGO BEFORE CHILDREN WERE BRAIN WASHED? Panel speaks out about homelessness
Fred You honestly cannot compare 1 individual to an entire world full of homelessness, low-incomers, just plain hungry people. Yea, that was a really bad thing to happen, there are obvious distinctions with street people, who choose to do drugs, alcohol AND LIVE ON THE STREETS. There are people under full circumstance, who never had homeless on their list of things to do in life - I am not yelling, or angry... as I have been involved in homeless-ness for 5 years now. When it happens to you, it is unsurmountable, it's a punch in the stomach... please don't judge all homeless by what you see"panhandli ng". I didn't panhandle, I am not a drug addict, nor do I drink... quite hoonestly it all happened to be in a day - I was overwhelmed. Now we have full blown recession - I have talked about for years, hig food costs, gas prices, people with housing, car loans, kids, how does anyone budget anymore? (Apr 9, 2008 | post #4)

Study makes doctors wary of new cholesterol drugs Vytorin and Z...
This is all so confusing and disheartening... why doctors or pharmacutical companies... cannot get on the same page about something so over prescribed, then extremely important to victims of heart problems, also diabetics. This amount of information should spell out STOP IT. I don't want to die because a drug for my heart is killing me??? (Mar 31, 2008 | post #2)
Fifth of New Jersey Families `Working Poor,' More Than in 2000,...
Retail down sizing has been going on for now, many years - it is simply being advertised on media, here in the US... I doubt seriously trying to boycott any item is going to make a bust... Retailers know this, the vicious circle, cycle continues. I feel damn sorry for farmers. I have lived among suched regulated farmers - no picnic there. I can remember an old farmer years ago, who picked up a box of cornflakes in my house ~ he said "how much did you pay for this", well when I told him he was spitting and spewing... the amount of the box of flakes was a lot more than a percentage amount the farmer actually received... If we were not here commenting, I don't believe these things would get observed thusly... so many many people just go blindly to the markets, grocery stores, you have spontaneous buyers... But, then the circle comes back full force to the working poor, to poverty, to disabled on foodstamps, it's definately vicious, then sad. (Mar 27, 2008 | post #6)
Fifth of New Jersey Families `Working Poor,' More Than in 2000,...
Yes, we are all working poor, but the MEDIA has not reported it as such until there was an announcement of recession... hhmmm... Many of us who watch signs of time, have seen this recession coming many years. Consumers are dying over high prices every direction they turn vs., retail who keep raising prices, lowering ounces of groceries... this is a head spinner for sure. There are more reasons for legalization than there are for JAIL or PRISON... this is so, stupid. This country could be a leader in hemp commodities, PLUS the perfectly easy packaging then selling to adults... We all know hemp has no THC value ~ ergo clothes, oil... food?!!!! FUEL ~ ANYONE???????????? ???? America would be front page for months ~ to rock with the sign of the times. Onward Petrifiedhippy (Dec 10, 2006 | post #30)
