Prop. 8 battle heads back to court

Marriage is a religious rite, and therefore should not be part of any law. Whether it is a man and woman, woman and woman, or man and man. Then each religion can decide how to implement the rite. However... If the state is to define marriage, then it must accompany all, or it will be discriminating against a particular group. I find it disgusting that you find the love of two people repulsive. Happy holiday you narrow minded puke.  (Dec 5, 2010 | post #11)

Santa Cruz City Council to weigh rental inspection checkl...

"We expect this to be a living document as the program grows," said Alex Khoury, assistant planning director. "I expect we will make changes to improve it." It is alive!! Yes, if the city gets money from it, it will "improve " with more fees, and and more properties being covered. They won't enter my rental without a court order.  (Nov 23, 2010 | post #17)

Santa Cruz County unemployment at 10.6 percent in October...

Jondi - If you are going to re-post the article, the least you can do is get the figures correct. California is 12.4% in Sept, not 12% Nationwide, it is 9.6%, not 9% And year to year, the unemployment rate is up 0.2%. Why do even simple things elude this "news" paper. http://www.laborma rketinfo.edd.ca.go v/  (Nov 20, 2010 | post #4)

http://www.laborma rketinfo.edd.ca.go v/ Yes, check the labor market tab, 12.4% in California and 9.6% nationwide. These are the same numbers that I quoted in my post. Jondi, did you even look at the numbers?  (Nov 19, 2010 | post #6)

Silicon Valley jobless rate drops in October

Don't worry, with the sentinels stellar reporting skills, this crackdown could be Wed and Thur or Sun and Fri. We will never really know for sure until after the fact.  (Nov 19, 2010 | post #8)

Santa Cruz Planning Commission OKs climate plan

Mixed use housing over retail requires a retail business. More likely the case, it would be housing over vacant store fronts. How do they propose reducing regional commutes by 30% when there are no jobs in Santa Cruz?  (Nov 19, 2010 | post #10)

Bay Area prosecutors to TSA officials: Be wary of extent ...

Not clueless, just pragmatic. If enough people choose not to fly, then the industry will have to change to draw people back to the airports. I don't look at it as giving in, I look at it as standing up and saying that I will not participate in something that I find to be stupid, ineffective and a personal violation. Remember, you do not have the right to fly.  (Nov 19, 2010 | post #33)

Solomon- Turkey dinner is a tradition in my family and will continue to be so. Your trying to cling to tradition by having a fake turkey. If it so horrible, why do you continue to promote the event with a "turkey" (albeit fake)?  (Nov 19, 2010 | post #4)

Bay Area prosecutors to TSA officials: Be wary of extent ...

Don't fly if you don't like it. I used to travel a lot, but since 911, and all the bs at the airport, I fly very rarely. Driving may take longer, but you get to see the countryside, and don't have to worry about some TSA nazi wanting to feel you up.  (Nov 18, 2010 | post #18)

Editor's Blog: "Welcome to Santa Cruz: Please pay here"

Ok...so what about people that live here? Do they have to pay $5 every time the drive down ocean? Setting up on 17 would mean people working would have to pay every day? This has to be the dumbest idea to ever be floated in this town (yet).  (Nov 17, 2010 | post #5)

Santa Cruz commission OKs bag ban, debates climate report

I just don't see why they don't make stores use compostable bags, or other biodegradable bags. An outright ban, or tax on the bags seems a bit much.  (Nov 16, 2010 | post #50)
