After years of courtship, Redford commits to NM

In other words, he wants to exploit New Mexico and its natives.  (May 29, 2009 | post #8)

City Council seeks deeper budget cuts

That's per "month"; not "moth"-- I am so furious about it that I cannot see straight....!  (May 29, 2009 | post #25)

City Council seeks deeper budget cuts

Santa Fe County, LOOK OUT! You are about to be subject to the idiotic regulations and ransoming that the citizens of the City of Holy Faith are suffering! And the cost of sanitation/garbage pick-up went up 8 dollars per moth recently. There is no Initiative and Referendum on things that the corrupt, feckless city council and Mayor do; just absolute power to do whatever THEY want to do to you. Letting this bunch rule the county, too, is dangerous.  (May 29, 2009 | post #24)

Dogs banned after attack at Tent Rocks

Nobody said that they do not like animals. There is a time and a place for everything, and walking one's dog in a historic park, when others are subject to its actions, is not wise. If you cannot leave your dog at home, or in a properly-vented car for the duration, out of respect for others, then do not visit the parks where dogs are not welcome. Since it is impossible to have park staff police all the irresponsible dog-owners, it makes more sense to ban dogs from this educational, public experience. Don't like it, and want to cry discrimination? How about caring for your fellow man a bit, instead of putting your beloved personal pet on parade in public? Plants that have been urinated upon are degraded. Leashes are not long enough to deter dog-bites, and dog-fights can get out of control. Suppose everyone who visits Tent Rocks brings a dog on a leash. The likelihood of dog-fights is astronomical, and the prospect of stepping in something that will ruin your shoes and sicken your kids is high, as well. I commend the powers-that-be at Tent Rocks for their wise, people-friendly decision.  (May 29, 2009 | post #71)

Pecos native still a Notre Dame devotee

What a wonderful, accomplished man Dr. Adelo is. God bless him and his wife. It is good to read about the many northern New Mexicans of Lebanese heritage (the great citizen Art Michael comes to mind...). Thanks, Ms. Pacheco, for shining a light on the Adelo family.  (May 27, 2009 | post #2)

To the crazed animal who thoughtlessly gave me the ugly rating-symbols: thank you for so vividly illustrating my point!  (May 23, 2009 | post #64)

Dogs banned after attack at Tent Rocks

When did it become acceptable to bring dogs everywhere? There is a time and a place for everything. Imposing your dog and its bodily waste products on everyone else is just spoiled and selfish behavior. Yuppies are getting aggressive with their canines, and the feeling of entitlement that vicious dog owners display, to the detriment of anyone who is unfortunate enough to be bothered by their precious pooch, is just the latest sign that the end of civilization--and maybe even the world--is at hand. This unreasonable, misanthropic doggie-worship is Biblical! A friend of mine was working in a shop on San Francisco street lately. A woman brought her huge dog inside, and let it urinate on the display case. She then asked my friend to clean up after her dog! It's sick out there, and getting sicker....  (May 22, 2009 | post #63)

Right on, Colorado, they ARE resistant to diverse opinions, and do not tolerate the well-considered opinions of others--even the admonition of the compendium of 200 economics experts who disagreed with President Obama's "stimulus plan" makes no difference to them. These poor unfortunates rely on rumor and innuendo to formulate their beliefs. A president who has no understanding of economics is preferable to these people, and they will forever be in denial. They just enjoy the pose or pretense of being "liberal ", "compassionat e", and tolerant, when they are anything BUT. As you've said, some of us were "liberals " when we were young, and then evolved into people who, through experience, developed common sense. Those of us who are independent and pay our own way, while having compassion for the less-fortunate among us, giving to charity and doing all that we can for the benefit of others, do not appreciate Obama's vicious treatment of taxpayers and philanthropists in our country. As a registered Independent (D.T.S., or "declined to state" in New Mexico), I resent the childish claims and nasty slurs by the initiator if this thread.  (May 14, 2009 | post #32)

City Council lowers Railyard parking rates

Good news. This town is throwing a bone to Railyard visitors. Could it be that Flying Star restaurant, a huge chain-store and the galleries of minimalist, ugly "art" aren't drawing enough cars? When the parking lot fills with Subarus sporting bumper-stickers like "My Religion is Loving Kindness" and "Kill Bush" you'll know it has worked. You know, the environmentalist crowd that has to drive everywhere. The City Council will make up the loss of revenue with its new red-light cameras.  (May 14, 2009 | post #5)

Thank you for being so consistent. Your mindless reaction just enhances my argument. I shall wear those ugly symbols as a badge of honor. They represent YOUR feckless, cowardly brainlessness, as well as your lack of tools with which to construct a coherent refutation. ĦBravo!  (May 14, 2009 | post #23)

Man kills girlfriend over slow cooking

Slow Cooking is now all the rage, and this incident proves it! Seriously, that poor woman. No pity for the perp; he wanted to be served faster, but now he will be serving a long, slow sentence.  (May 14, 2009 | post #53)
