Which si the worse temp agency in Greenville

When I heard about an opening at Tiger Eye--they make yard signs, buttons and such for political campaigns--a temp agency on 121 just a bit north of Russ Road refused to send me out there. Another time I was job blocked by a temp agency based on East Fifth St. and their name begins with an "S."  (Monday Mar 24 | post #5)

Do you know?

And then they wonder why so many women look down on them. I knew a Chester Shell in the late 1970's. He had one daughter that I knew of--"S." I've lost track of them since. But I remember "S" married a black guy, where they lived for a while, and she had problems between her kids and the law.  (Dec 28, 2013 | post #10)

Do you remember....

What the big news story was on this date one year ago? The date itself is the answer. 2012! We were told either Earth would be destroyed-a secular rather than a religious Armageddon-or we'd undergo a "shift in the consciousness " or some-such change and we'd all be a better people because of it. Here we are, on the one-year anniversary, and the only thing that changed is the bank accounts of those writers, filmmakers and other hucksters who showed we are just as gullible as ever. When we heard "2012," we should have also heard echoes of "Y2K," "1976," (many present and ex-Jehovah's Witnesses know what I mean there). That's not to say the world doesn't face real dangers. As a bit of trivia, in 1978 we came very close to accidentally starting a nuclear war. A maintenance crew was working high up on a catwalk in a silo with a nuclear missile in it. Someone dropped an adjustable wrench, which went banging and bouncing off the missile and the hoses, electrical connections and so on, and--hit something just right--and the launch sequence was started. The next few minutes was a frantic scramble to abort before the missile roared out of the silo toward its ore-programmed target. In the then-current suspicion of the Cold War, could we convince whoever got hit that it was an accident? The same year, a graduate student at Cornell University, using what he'd learned in classes, answers received from his professors, and unclassified reference materials, designed what many felt would be a working atomic bomb. No need to fall for 2012-type scares. There are enough real ones already.  (Dec 21, 2013 | post #1)

ObamaCare the end of a Free people

I have undergone a cancer screening and a coronary ablation in the last two and a half months. In all the paperwork I had to fill out, in all the consultations with specialists, the filling of prescriptions and all the rest, I have NEVER been asked ANY type of "nonmedical " questions. Nothing related to gun ownership, political beliefs, or any other irrelevant issues to my reasons for seeing a specialist. I want to see proof you or someone else were asked the questions you say were put to you. They're so off-the-wall that they sound more like the baseless charges of a paranoid, not questions medical professionals would ask. If you don't like the health care you receive here under a "dictator " then why don't you relocate to England, Iceland, Denmark, or anywhere else the government is more to your liking?  (Dec 21, 2013 | post #11)

ObamaCare the end of a Free people

The new world order. A phrase used by ultraconservatives who believe the US will be forced to bow down to the UN. Well if the government is too big, why didn't Reagan and the Bush Boys do something about it when they had the chance? Republican majorities in Congress and a conservative Supreme Court. Or were even minority Democrats too powerful for them? Remember it was Dubya who got the Patriot Act enacted-and even some conservatives said it trampled too much on individual liberties. The FBI misused their power 2,000+ times, by one account, in requesting financial records of Americans be turned over to them. Then there's the NSA, whose spying worldwide and working with England's equivalent, the GCHQ, in cracking many encryption standards used legitimately we know of, thanks to Edward Snowden. Religious people would say to trust in God. If you're not religious, emigrate. They know where you are now and what you think. Seen any unmarked helicopters hovering overhead?  (Nov 10, 2013 | post #9)

The World Ended on Oct 1

We're already paying a portion of indigent people's medical bills. That hasn't changed. Yes, I can see premiums going up for some people. The ones you mention--the drug users and others--for them, maybe going to Canada's your best bet. They have a government-run healthcare system too though. Or England.  (Nov 10, 2013 | post #5)

Two articles UCO citizens should read

I read both articles. A police officer who has written many tickets an upset citizens in St. Paris, Ohio was accused of (illegally?) searching teenager's cars and following them home. Later he was terminated by the mayor after a council member's daughter was treated as described. She started a petition to have him disciplined or be retrained. After his termination he brought his case before Council, saying there were no records of disciplinary action taken against him, no records of conflicts with citizens, and his termination should be reversed. So what's your point?  (Oct 24, 2013 | post #2)

50 Cent: you're a f**king paranoid. No gay man would want to count you as a friend, let alone try to cop a feel. You flatter yourself if you think they would want to touch you. I'll remind you that many GLBT people worked in the civil rights marches of the `60s for black people. And this is their payback? A comment I would have thought came from Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson or Fred Phelps. Juan pedro and Arron: ditto.  (Oct 13, 2013 | post #6)

The Affordable Care Act will help me out tremendously by eliminating the waiting period for pre-existing conditions. Blame Ted Cruz and the Tea Party for this. The ACA had been passed, the Supreme Court had upheld its more controversial provisions, but like spoiled brats the GOP is again trying to derail it. And they wonder why they keep losing national elections.  (Oct 12, 2013 | post #2)
